What about Philip the Fair and Joanna of Aragon? On they day they met, they looked at each other and immediately went to look for a priest to get married instead of waiting for the accual wedding. They fell in love at first sight.

Wasn’t his wife Joan of Navarre? Philips mother was Isabella of Aragon
@Theturtleowl
@Theturtleowl 2 жыл бұрын
@@imcalledweasley9280 There are two Philips with the nickname the fair. One was Philip IV of France, the husband of Joan of Navarre, the other Philip I of Castile, who is also named 'the handsome'. So I might have used that name in order to avoid confusion. I ment the later Philip, who lived 200 years apart from Joan of Navarre.

what about Elizabeth and Phillip? she was head-over-heals for him and they enjoyed a 73 year long marriage. The notoriously stoic 95yrld Queen was noticeably heartbroken after his death in 2021. and the fact that her health rapidly declined since his death makes the cause of her own death in September quite obvious, she died of a broken heart.

After Prince Philip died I was surprised she lived so long to be honest, because when people are old and have been together in a happy marriage it is not uncommon for the survivor to follow within weeks or months.

There was a video here on youtube where the Queen was greeting people with Philip beside her. Both were looking so regal and elegant. Between greetings, Philip leaned towards her slightly and said something. Elizabeth kind of looked sideways at him and smiled. She lit up and he looked so proud. I know they had their difficulties but they put real work into their relationship and I admired them.

It’s funny how Catherine of Aragon has gone down as a religious fanatic, dour, and dumpy. She was pretty, smart, and fierce. Henry VIII was really in love with her. Remember, he was only 17 when they married. And they lasted over 20 years. If she had produced a son, there wouldn’t be his (let’s face it) absolutely fascinating marital history.

Henry VIII was a divorce addict way before divorce addiction became a thing . 500 years ahead of his time, literally
@cherrieaulait
@cherrieaulait 2 жыл бұрын
He literally invented divorce. It was demanded of him he had to produce an heir & C of A couldn't after 20yrs or something so he split from the Catholic Church & started a new Church in order to be able to divorce her, I see it as he went to a lot of effort to give her safe passage out of that marriage. If he hadn't, somebody in the court wanting an heir for the country might have conveniently done away with her.

Great video, but if you do one more about this topic, I would definitely suggest adding Holy roman empress Maria Theresia and Francis Stephan of Lorraine. I heard that even broke a bed while making love😅 Of course, he was not loyal to her, but they had very passionate marriage and 16 children (and Maria Theresia herself wrote it wasn't because she wanted to have that many children😅)

Nice and Western Europe centric. Other examples pleasing? -- Maria Theresia Habsburg and Franz Stephan Duke of Lorraine. He gave up Lorraine to marry her. They made a 3 month honeymoon and had 16 childrens - should be able to be compared to Victoria -- Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal - she was always at his side even in war times. During such a travel she died giving birth to the 14th child of them. Her grave is the Tadsch Mahal, which is maybe the most beautiful grave in the whole history -- Maximilian and Maria of Burgund: They shared interests in every respect. Not only political ambition and family but even their hobbies. -- Alexander III from Russia and his wife Dagmar also known as Maria Feodorowna ....

@katalinelo8011 2 жыл бұрын
Also Ferdinand I of Habsburg (a grandson of Maximilian and Mary of Burgund) with the princess Anna of Hungary. That was arranged way before they reached adulthood, and up until the last minute it was a question which Habsburg boy gets to marry her. (Same time his sister Maria married the brother of Anna, future King of Hungary, it was a treaty about inheritance of each others realms made up between Maximilian and Wladislaw II, hence the double marriage) They had 14 kids if I remember correctly (over 10 for sure). It was a happy marriage with true affection between them. After Anna died, Ferdinand started to grow a beard as sign of his mourning (she died shortly after having her last baby, possibly complications from the birth).
