One of my favorite things we did at our wedding was have music playing as guests arrived and waited. Once we heard The Final Countdown, it was time for the wedding party to line up and that was my cue to run to the line so my husband didn't see me 😆 (we were all outside) The 80s music made it way more fun and memorable.

I’ve been married almost 10 years and my husband and I had a court house wedding two days after Christmas while he was home on leave from Comm school in the Marines. We had been together 6 years already and only decided at Thanksgiving to get married. The more I watch these wedding planning videos, the happier I am I didn’t have to plan a big fat Italian/NJ wedding. The idea of a seating chart made me wanna faint when I had to help plan a communion party that was for my husband’s niece.

I love planning seating charts! As long as nobody knows I planned them I guess, because that would be bad if people wanted to sit other places and stuff

@@elizabethsmith955 I guess it’s different for some families but Italian families once the word of the party or wedding reception hits, people start bothering you. If it was crazy for an 8 year olds party, I wanted nothing to do with a wedding reception 😂 But it’s ok, my husband and I will be married 10 years in Dec and our entire wedding cost $300 for a dress, shoes, wedding license. My parents paid for a meal after the ceremony and gifted us the money for the rings.

Even with a small wedding it’s just as stressful. I think I’ll have about 40-50 people, 4 days engaged and I’m already overwhelmed!

i can’t even stress this enough for a caterers perspective. filling those in betweens, saves us the harassing of “when’s dinner ready?” or “we ran out of appetizers already?!” thise moments where guests are occupied, saves our lives, just keep the caterers informed about your schedule!

can I ask, no hate of course, but every wedding I've been to, the reception was extremely long and drawn out. so much so that a lot of people left before things like the cake cutting. the gap between appetisers or entree and dinner was at least an hour and a half, then another hour and a half for dessert. and we waited a long time just to see the entrees in the first place. is this normal? is it just because it's not easy to feed that many people at once? or because they didn't want the night to end too quickly? or was I unlucky and it's not usually that drawn out? I love the ceremony but hate the reception for this reason. it's just such a long day, and a lot of waiting. especially when you're seated with people you don't know 😬

@@katyb2793 depending on the venue, number of guests, and bride and groom requests, timing is always dodgy. sometimes the venue can be a little while’s away from the catering kitchen, so setup and food prep is delayed. if it’s a number of guests issue, having to call in more food from the kitchen can cause a problem at the kitchen, if they’re making food for another event. and then if it’s a bride and the groom where they take pictures for hours between ceremony and reception, we run out of our appetizers quick and then that delays time between apps and the entree/dinner. receptions aren’t for everyone, but wedding staff all flow with the rules of the bride and groom (and sometimes the mothers of the bride/groom) we as the staff understand the frustrations and we often take the blame for it but we all just work around their schedules and hope and pray for the best

If you are an already stressed out bride: Please ignore this tip! I'm sure your guests are happy to just be there, celebrate with you, and eat some good food! If you are an avid party planner bride or someone who can afford to just throw money at a wedding planner to think for you: have at it! Sounds like fun!

@nxyla Well, I just meant to say, you do you and don't feel like it has to be like every guru suggests Edit: The stressed out bride winds up in places like this because she's trying to figure out wedding planning. I know because I've been there.

@nxyla I think you're reading too much into it. Especially the throwing money at professionals bit. All it meant was if you enjoy planning stuff have fun with all the extra and if you don't but have the money to throw at other people to plan all these extras for you have at it. It was not back handed at all. It was just pointing out, these are not needs so if you don't want to plan them or can't afford to, no one is gonna look down on you.

This us such a weird comment The reason for a wedding is quite literally for the attention to be on the bride and groom and their relationship. You are supposed to be looking at them. They are supposed to be the centre of attention.
@hihi615

Dude, the entire point of a wedding is "look at me and my special moment, we're celebrating" A photo collage would be a collection of memories. Photos from special moments, likely a timeline of your relationship since they're LITERALLY THERE TO CELEBRATE YOUR RELATIONSHIP
@katyb2793

my friend had a collage during the reception and everyone liked it. they had photos of family we never had the chance to meet, photos of when they they were kids, photos with friends (so everyone had a photo of themselves up there too), special occasions. it was really nice. a celebration of their lives leading up to this moment! if it was just the couple tho.. that's less.. nice haha
