Such a good whiskey. Love the viscosity and the finish. I don’t regret buying this one at all. Fun video!

The budget conversation while wearing that sub is hilarious!! 😂 Honestly, for $300 it’s a steal. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to buy a batch 3 for $500, and I snatched it before they could change their mind!!
@stuffandwhiskeyАй бұрын
Josh here and I'd have likely done the same. It's a special bottle of whiskey to be sure. It's all in what you value regarding the Sub I guess. Got it years ago before the market went bananas. Most people pay more annually in car payments in a single year than what I paid for the Sub, while I drive a paid-off 185,000 mile 14 year old Nissan (but I keep it clean). Point being we all spend money on certain things, but things like vehicles tend to get a pass (even though they're far more egregious) while watches seem like a splurge. Doesn't mean someone isn't budget-conscious. It's a fun conversation to have and one I love having been a watch guy for most of my life.
@traviskoogler5225Ай бұрын
Oh I get it, just making a comical observation…I’m quite the watch guy myself, got my green sub in April of 2022 (market peak) for msrp…it was worth twice what I paid when I walked out of the jewelers door, just like yours is right now. Nothing wrong with a tangible investment that you get to enjoy as it gains value! I guess I just figured that having a bourbon channel would make you want to stretch those bourbon budget boundaries a little more than normal folks! Cheers 🍻

In a manner of speaking, I've paid $300 for 1 bottle to date, but it was in the form of a 375ml scotch for $150. I'd only be willing to spend $300 if it was a 2-way or 3-way bottle split, no more than a 5-way bottle split in order to attain sufficient experience.

Mr Sam B2 was pretty meh for me, especially when factoring the cost, but B3 was pretty fantastic. Still not buying a penny over MSRP, but I did pay for a pour of it in Indy last fall. For me and my preference, I would rather have a GTS or WLW.

Rare Breed is now $49.99. It's getting to the cutoff where I'm not sure it's great at that price.

This was one of the options in the Spring bottle lottery in Ohio. I probably would have passed because I had never heard of it.

What would you recommend for a $200 bourbon that I can actually get in North Carolina? Something for special occasions with bourbon nerds.
@kurtpearson57773 ай бұрын
Here in NC, we don't see a lot of these types of offerings. I'd recommend store picks (Old Forester, for example). They are great for sharing with fellow bourbon buddies. You don't have to buy a $250+ bottle to bring something great to the party. My opinion. KP from NC (Alamance County).
@stuffandwhiskey3 ай бұрын
It's so tough as distribution is so different, and it's difficult to recommend a bottle that pricey without knowing what you love first. Making broad sweeping recommendations without knowing someone's palate preferences feels pretty reckless to us when so much money is in question so we're almost always a "try before you buy" at that price point. If forced to make a recommendation though, for readily available shelf stuff in most markets, it's hard to beat Calumet 14-16 year bottlings. They're a good balance of proof, flavor, and age that we enjoy, although some do find them too oaky or medicinally cherry-forward, so keep that in mind if either of those things aren't your thing. Truthfully, our favorite bottles are single barrel picks, whether they're our own picks or picks from our local store or other channels that have similar palate preferences to us.

I don’t pay more than $200 for ANYTHING! (At least not yet 😉) - and out of a 150 bottle non-funded (except for my wallet) bourbon collection, I’ve only spent $200 twice.

Josh, you think you're having trouble talking, just be glad you don't talk fast like a Yankee - you wouldn't be able to get anything out! 🤣 4:00 I'm getting a Kentucky hug right now, from Wild Turkey 101. 🙂 😮 I don't spend $300 on whiskey in four months! Mister Sam? That's what Walmart employees called Sam Walton (the founder of Walmart) before he died.

I'd find it difficult to spend $300 on a bottle of whiskey. Maybe find a few friends who would be willing to agree on a few shared bottles. If someone sees one grab it and split it equally 🤔🥃

😂 technically percentage wise you're still spending $300 for a bottle. Unless I guess you don't have $300, but I'm assuming you're saying it's just not worth $300 for a bottle. In which case I agree. I wouldn't spend $100 on a bottle personally, but depends on the person and how much they value it

Lol 300 for no age, candian whiskey, and american blend hard pass. Sure paid 250 for a 4roses 135th anniversary or 210 for Michters 10 year. But I knew what I was getting. 300 for BTAC sure but not some blend.
@stuffandwhiskey3 ай бұрын
Even if it’s better than BTAC?
@ryanb51792 ай бұрын
A major portion of the blend is BTAC. Hand picked ER17/GTS barrels go in this blend. Drew Mayville is the master blender and he has free rein of any Sazerac owned warehouse to pick whatever barrels he wants. About 1,200 bottles are released every two years.
