So cool seeing you use the 14mm. I've had the Sigma Art 14mm 1.8 in my kit for over a year now and the images always give a unique feeling only captured with a lens like this!

Love those shots of the staircases, and the internal hotel shots! Great work. Grear lens, and seems reasonably priced, compared to what the branded versions would costs!

I bought one for Astro and it has been great, unmatched for one take (long exposure) shots even. Now I find myself pulling it out at the track when I'm doing motorsports...just to add some more creative (different) shots for the day. Only 4 or 5 images (compared to 2-3K) so it it is still more of a niche lens.

How much of the success of these photos comes from not the lens but the Leica? What video camera were you following it around with? What lense was on it? Great photos!!!

I have the sigma 14mm f1.8, do you think it’s worth the upgrade ?
@TaylorJacksonPhoto Жыл бұрын
Is it better than my Nikon 10.5mm APS-C fisheye? I've been looking to upgrade since it's the only lens I own and people keep complaining that their wedding photos are only in fisheye and I don't know what to do
@RanftEvan Жыл бұрын

Check f4 some of the Sigma lens get soft at f4 fit some reason. There was a video I was watching showing this issue with the Sigma 135mm F1.8 vs the Sony 135mm.

Great video , Thank you so much. How is 14 vs 14-24 Nikkor compares sharpness wise ?
@RanftEvan Жыл бұрын
It’s hard to say exactly because it’s 2 different cameras. But I would say the same if not better, but the only way to truly know would be have them both on the same body. I’ve made photos at the Marriott with both lenses and I preferred the 14 prime images

Does the lens allow for ND filters? When I’m shooting landscape, I often use ND filters to adjust for conditions.
@RanftEvan Жыл бұрын
I looked it up the other day and it looks like nisi has made a mount for it. It’s pricey but at least the options in there
@wingcreator Жыл бұрын
You can put ND gel/filters on backend of the lens or in front of camera sensor.

İ test it for video, but too much distortion in the corners. So I went to Sigma 20mm 1.4 wich I really like. But for photography the 14mm is a special lense, it's really good.

@TheArtofKAS Жыл бұрын
Awesome tests, Evan. Great lense Absolutely agree with the notion of plateauing in regards to some camera technology. I think that Sigma and Tamron have been two companies that have always been on the edge of innovating some of the stuff that we've already seen many times before I think it's because they don't have super advanced technology like ai eye-tracking and focusing or 8K raw video that they have to put in cameras in order to make a good product instead they dump all of their XP into specing out their lenses. 😂😂
@RanftEvan Жыл бұрын
Agreed! It was refreshing to use something for photography that really felt new and innovative. Especially when the photos and performance backed it up
@jklphoto Жыл бұрын
Kept waiting for you to comment/compare it to the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 AF-S on your desk Evan. Astrophotography would be the obvious use case. No reason for landscape shooters to lug this beast around. And softness at f/1.4? Of course. That's why I rarely shot wide open for commercial work. Just. Too. Risky.
