This is brilliant. I hate the extra mike cable.. because it also requires the media mod to get the aux cable to plug in. Now I can toss the media mod and my gopro bulk is much smaller on my helmet, plus pull out the annoying mike wire that often flops around hitting my chin. Gave it a try today - works!

I’m still running the GoPro 10. Recently I got myself the Rode wireless me setup. I had the mic clipped to the chin curtain in my helmet & it worked fine. I now use a Dango helmet mount & I’m able to mount the mic on the inside of the mount in the helmet, just in front of my mouth & it’s just as good. I’ve tried the Rode mics in this situation but as they’re designed as lapel mics not close proximity mics, I find they peak and sounds is not ideal. Good to hear the setup is working for you. Also the Hollyland Lark Max is a great option for wireless mics. Thanks for watching!

I just got the cardo today and I cant tell if it is a player issue or the camera and phone cant both be using the mic at the same time i think you said that in the vid it was hard to keep up u mentioned some tech idk about.. i did some quick research and it seems that it is one or the other any shot u can confirm that for me so i dont spent more time wasted trying to. 55 ... kinda wack they didnt sponsor u cause a few months ago when i was considering buying the cardo this was the top vid i watched.. and today when trying to pair this was also the best vid I could find still.. thanks for the hard work

I don’t believe the conversations over DMC would be recorded, but you can use the new function in the Cardo app for that. Music wouldn’t be recorded either, but I will test and report back.

I have been able to connect it to my SENA 30K successfully on my Shoei RF-1400 and my Neotec II. In addition, I was able to stream music from my iPhone to my helmet and did not pick up the background music on my GP video footage. Game changer! However, I ordered a wireless MIC from Ulanzi which may be better overall voice recording sound quality.

Ok, this is what I discovered with the Ulanzi. I really need to show this as a video but didn’t record it because …. Uhm…. I was in my pajamas 😂 1. I could not get the microphones or wireless receiver to directly connect using Bluetooth but didn’t really expect to 2. Using a GoPro Media Mod with the HERO 12, I could plug the digital wireless Bluetooth receiver into the Media Mod directly and connect one or two of the Bluetooth mics to the receiver. I used one as a test. No need for two mics. I hit video record on the a GoPro and walked about 100’ away and my audio came in crystal clear. In fact it was booming so I need to turn the volume way down. I had the mic taped into the front of my Neotec II but it can be Velcro in. Each mic has a lapel clip which can also be used but I would trust Velcro more. The clip on the receiver fits perfectly in either cold shoe on the media mod. Thats how I placed it. 3. The Ulanzi device comes with a myriad of different cables for different kinds of applications which is rock star in my opinion. 4. As a further test, I connected my iPhone to my SENA 30K and played streaming music from Pandora while I was talking into the Ulanzi mic. I did not pick up any music in my helmet with the Ulanzi mic. This takes riding and recording audio\video to a new level. I will test on the bike tomorrow. I will upload a video to my channel of that test. 5. I am 100% blown away with the new 12 and its expanded capabilities. Hope that helps

55 :) My Gopro 12 has arrived. It pairs with Sena SC1 on Schuberth C4 without any problems and records the sound very well. But there is a problem. I'm also pairing my phone with Sena SC1 and listening music. I understand it shouldn't happen at the same time, but I can't switch. Moreover, Sena also has an option called second phone connection. Also, when I make an intercom connection with my friends, the Gopro connection is disconnected and even if I turn off the intercom connection, it does not connect back.

Yes. I have similar experiences with Cardo. Though Cardo have a function where you can record the whole conversation via the app.

Same here, Sena mesh intercom or any other is not possible when being Bluetooth paired with the GoPro 12. Would be perfect if the Bluetooth connection while not recording would be as passive, your intercom active and only when recording, it blocks the intercom out (similar like incoming call) 🤷‍♂️

55. Great vid. I have the GP 11 and now wish I had waited for the 12. You are a bad man as I now have to go and get a 12 😀. This is a great feature and voids all the cable issues. Shame about the syncing not working with auto start. Seems like going to need plenty of batteries and change stops.

Any reason this wouldn’t work with a bold? You can bridge dmc mesh intercom to your secondary Bluetooth channel so you should be able to get group chat recorded…?

Bluetooth connection to any Bluetooth microphone is a feature that could have been present in GoPro cameras for at least five years. Perhaps they grew tired of selling mods for $90 each to achieve similar functionality, which also required the acquisition of specific microphone models, such as the Rode Wireless Go or similar. Now, we are pleased with this 'new' feature.

Now you are using this feature auto power on and off feature which we mostly use to save battery. So when you power on and starts recording. does it connects to Cardo automatically in quick time? In my experience, no, the quick record feature does not allow enough time to connect to the Cardo before starting the recording. But that may be fixed with an update.

Hey MotoNZ, 55 awesome video mate. I want to start live streaming my rides with a GoPro while having only my music playing from my Cardo Freecom4x in the background. Before I go buy a GoPro, I want to know if there’s a way to do this? I’d plan on streaming to Facebook directly through iphone/gopro connection, and I’d also need a direct feed from my Cardo’s audio to the GoPro. Is this a possibility? My guess is I’d need a splitter so I can plug into my speakers and into the GoPro.

Having a problem with audio echo when using 2 channels and the gopro is on the chin mount. The bluetooth delay vs the internal mic is sufficient to cause it noticeably. I can see it can work on your setup with the gopro on your handlebar as it won't pickup your voice on the internal mic.

I don't have Cardo but i've try it with my cheap AliExpress and it was unusable. The biggest problem when connecting any freecom is that they have noise reduction and you can't control gain on Gopro, so you can't hear the sound of the motorcycle too much and the voice sounds too generic for my taste. It would be a game changer if I could connect something like Rode Wireless GO or some similar mic with the magnet and stick it inside the helmet. I am surprised that DJI did not do it with their action 4 since they have wireless mics. One tip. If you want to have usable audio from gopro on second channel (without wind noise ), buy cheap Windslayer foam and you will have engine sound for use in post. I have a tutorial on my channel for settings. Nice video, regards from Croatia.

Thanks for your message and watching the video. I have found when you use the audio from the Bluetooth device, the GoPro actually records audio from the device and the internal mic, so a simple mix of audio from both feeds brings back the natural ambience well.

Hi! I have an issue, when I connected the audio of Cardo edge with instant Ace pro, the audio result completely silent and only take sound directly from the mic when I talked (I use mic boom, not wired for my modular helmet). So no background sound from the ace pro, even I tried to speak directly to the mic hole on Ace pro still no sound. Then I tried no to connect it with Cardo edge, the mic on Ace Pro works well to catch the sound,(so I assumed no problem with internal mic). Is there any setting I need to change in my ace pro? I tried to gain external mic, to +6db but no change for the result. Awaiting for your advise...🙏

Yes you can, but you will only be able to record your voice... not the whole DMC group. if you need to record the whole DMC group, hit record on the function in the cardo app.

The GoPro hero 12 records 4 mono streams of audio when connected to the Bluetooth mic device. 2x from the Bluetooth device and 2x from the internal mic. Then in post production you can adjust the levels of both the Bluetooth and internal mics.

This setup does not record the whole dmc conversation. If you want to record the whole conversation you’ll need to do that using the record function in the Cardo app, or if you run Sena see the videos we have uploaded on this channel.

I have many different settings depending what im trying to achieve. but for my chin cam i really like using an ND filter on a bright sunny day and restricting the ISO down to 100-200, gives a really nice motion blur.

Nah, it doesn’t work like that. Only one Bluetooth device can connect at the moment. Otherwise everything is garbled. If you want to record a group chat on Cardo you’re best to use the recording function in the app

@@MotoNZ not for me - the big challenge for me is mx/enduro. Really what I want is a new GoPro fully enclosed in the old style protective case, but with wireless mic so the camera setup is fully insulated from rocks, dust, mud etc. Good to see insta going well though. GoPro has great image quality and stabilisation but reliability has been sh*t. I made the mistake of upgrading from a four to a GP9... It had some horrendous bugs. If I'd had a direct competitor to go to they would have been history... But there wasn't, and they weren't 😂😳!

You can get a case for the GP12 Also the lens is replaceable and the housing is water and dust proof, so I wouldn’t worry about it, I regularly get off road with mine and have no issues. The GP9 was a bit dodgy, but so far with 2 GP12 I’ve not had a single issue. Good luck!

The 10 went to a new chip so I'm guessing along with some poor quality control on coding the system was being stretched, so really I needed to wait for the 10 but I didn't know that so k'ching $800 and a lot of aggro! 😂 I know you can just use the media mod direct - there's a guy here in the UK (midwest MX) that does crazy off road in Wales just with the media mod and it's fine, but the truth is I'm just too retentive for that 😂😂😂!!

Sure does. Once paired you can turn the camera on and off and it automatically pairs, and quickly too.

I have tried to pair my cardo freecom4+ to my gopro 12, it recognizes in the screen, but when I hit "+" to add the freecom on the gopro, it shows "error". What can be wrong? I even updated cardo firmware, but nothing changed. What can I do? Thanks

I did my first test today (using Cardo PackTalk Edge and the Hero 12) bluetoothed on the 'Bike' channel but found the audio dropping out considerably. After watching this I'll try the 2nd phone channel and see if that improves things.

Have you been able to try how the connection to the camera works when the Edge is connected via intercom (DMC) to other riders. Is the sound still transmitted to the camera?

I have tried that arrangement. still not ideal. best solution currently is to turn bluetooth off on your phone and use that channel to connect the Cardo to the Hero 12.

Did I understand correctly that the connection to the camera is not good when the dmc is connected to another Edge. Or did you mean that only the mobile phone should not be connected?

Only the mobile phone needs to be disconnected. However the camera will only record you audio, not the person you are connected to via DMC

​​​@@MotoNZ Big Thanks for info🤝. It is not a big disadvantage for me that the speech of DMC connections is not recorded. Then no one has to worry that the speeches will be on video😂. As long as the sound quality is just as good in the recording even when the DMC intercom is on. With my current Fodsport M1-S Plus device, it is not possible to have intercom connections at all when the camera is connected. Connection is possible but all sounds are muted to camera. So it's just a microphone if you want the sounds for the recording.

That is something I've been looking for for a long time, one question tho, If i connect my packtalk edge to the gopro 12 and start recording, can I have the packtalk edge connected to my phone as well at the same time? so I could listen to music while recording? because I wanted this solution for recording my delivery job and making content out of it but I'm afraid I will have to ditch the music while working, hoping for an answer

As far as I know. with the phone or camera connected via the phone bluetooth channel... you cant have the other device connected. However some people are reporting that they are having success connecting the camera to Bluetooth Intercom channel 1 and phone being connected to the phone channel... give it a try and report back.

Hi there, In my experience, Quick Capture does not allow enough time for the bluetooth mic to connect before starting the record function on the camera, meaning its only using the internal mic.

Now here is the part that confuses me. There are several cardos. You are using packtalk and I’d like to get freecom x4. Would it still connect to go pro hero 10 and as a person who have used diff cardos, do you think the audio quality is roughly the same on the packtalk edge/ neo and the freecom?

No, no Cardo will connect to your Hero 20. It does not have the functionality. Connected to a hero 12, yes Freecom and packtalk would sound the same.

It was a good camera but as I’m Not a big fan of editing I got a little miffed with editing 360 footage and then editing it again into my regular videos so sold it. I’m really liking the idea of the GoPro as you clearly pointed out no more extra mic or cables. I have a sena srl 2 but have just updated to the 3. Better speakers, Siri compatible along with having the mesh network available. I’ll check out your other review on the Insta pro. Oh and you have a new Sub 😁

Thanks for watching, What do you mean by "Intercom audio"? If you mean the full conversation with your riding buddies... then no. the camera will only record you. but if you are using a Cardo Packtalk Edge then you can use the function int he app to record your whole conversaion.

alright so this is a game changer.. but my Cardo edge is connected to my GoPro 12 but.. it seems like my audio records only when I talk. did you connect yours through GPS or phone bluetooth? I'm going to check my settings in the Cardo app and update it so see if I can fix it.
