What is with a 6GHz AP on the 2nd network port on the PC? That way you would save 1 hop if you connect them directly like that. Of course you would need to route internet on the PC and set them to a seperate IP net then your normal IP range. (for example 10.0.1.X/24 instead 10.0.0.X/24)

@@MrTeeF Yeah. My Mainboard has two 2.5GBit network adapters. I have my play area near my PC and I've managed to have the AP (situated on the ceiling, not a full fledged router and on other channels then the main router) in my gaming room (so called office 😅) that does not go through the router and don't need to route another cable through my house or pollute the living room where the main router is with another plastic box. @MrTeeF

@@kikicmoa Even though it has its advantages, you actually don’t need a 2.5 Gbps LAN port for good wireless streaming. 1 Gbps is more than enough. The 2401 Mbps refers to the communication between your device and the router, not the direct connection to your PC. The key is to maintain a stable signal at 2401 Mbps or 1200 Mbps, depending on your router's speed...

The AXE75 only supports 1000 Mbps, so you should be good. In my case, I use a BE550 as my main router, which is where I connect my PC. The AXE75, in turn, is wired to my main network, not the PC. (But you can wire your PC to your access point if you want.)

Does it matter or hurt speed if you connect the AXE75 to your modem through a CAT 6 cable that is actually approximately 15 meters long? Cause my modem is that far from where I want to put my AXE75 tplink router as an access point for my QUEST 3. Do I have to connect my modem to the tplink router with a short ethernet cable? Other than that, even on VD games I ll connect my pc straight to the AXE 75, because I dont need internet connection, so it ll be a close LAN near me. On MSFS 2024 though I need internet, so I hope that this 15 meters doesnt cause any problems.

Hi. I'm getting ready to buy Meta Quest 3 and I have this question: Is there any point in fighting for stable 2401 Mbps via Wi-Fi 6e if my Ethernet port on my computer supports a maximum of 1000 Mbps?
@MrTeeF
@MrTeeF Ай бұрын
Yes and no. Data flow isn’t just one-way from your PC; it also communicates with your router and other devices. So, higher speeds can still help. Even with a 1000 Mbps Ethernet limit, a stable wireless connection is still key. This is essentially what the Wi-Fi Mbps speed represents This is why I focus on both 80 Hz and 160 Hz bands, ensuring they stay stable at 1200 Mbps or 2401 Mbps. While you may not fully use 2401 Mbps, Wi-Fi 6E offers benefits like lower latency and reduced interference on the 6 GHz band. Also a dedicated connection eliminates bottlenecks. A standard Wi-Fi 6 network might work fine for you, try before investing. But if you're investing now, it might be worth future-proofing. ;)

if the quest 3's wifi 6 band width is only 6gigs than you are NOT doing any better on wireless vs the usb cable. wifi 6 has a range of in between 2.5 to 10 gigs depending on model. you need at least 5 for OLD pcvr games. hence Y old games work just fine on this HMD. and 10 for new ones. new games stutter BAD on the MHD because of the 5 gig limitation on the cable. cost range for a wifi5 router depends on location. out here a 6gig router start @ $300. the ones that can do 10 start @ 500. for example an asus one that does 10 is 800. and not sure how people are connecting with total wireless because I couldn't. the router must be connected to the PC by ethernet. if you plan on doing PCVR with this HMD I do not recommended it for NEW games. old ones are fine but new ones will have issues
