This setup is optimized for use with Quest2. Please note that there is currently a bug with the Wi-Fi drivers on Quest 3 or a very poor antenna placement, which makes it unstable on mid-range routers. However, with this setup, you can still get about 900 Mbps, which should be sufficient for most users. For optimal performance with Quest 3, it is recommended to use a Wifi6 or 6e router with a 5Ghz 160hz signal or a 6Ghz 160hz signal with a speed of 2401.

Thank you. Glad to help. Unfortunately the Quest3 wireless issues are still not resolved, but there have been several improvements since version 60. Even this setup seems to be working fine now as long as you're in close proximity to the access points. But the speed still varies from 740 to 1200 Mbps. But it's not so extreme that VD/Airlink can't keep up anymore. For the Quest 2 this should give you rock solid 1200 Mbps per second and no lag or studders. (As long as your PC can keep up.)

Thanks for the video. Was about to buy the one made by Puppis for $80 but found this RE505X for under $40, same speed. I hope it works, I just have a slow router, I have wired to all my devices but my phone, so I don't see the point getting a 6 router. The only reason I need it is VR and this is much better.

@@thebrokeindian8166 Just got it set up, so far so good. I need to test my speeds, haven't done that yet. I'm not sure if it is communicating with my modem through wireless or Ethernet, the Ethernet isn't flashing that much. I need to do some tests still. The app works great though.

@@thebrokeindian8166 Just got it set up, the App, for the phone, is the way to go. I'm not at my house so not with my PC I play VR on so I can't test with games. About the only thing I have to test it on is Immersed, I'll try it though the router and then this access point to see if it gets rid of latency. Immersed is really picky about speed though, so it will be a good test. I'm also waiting for a Ethernet cable to reach my notebook, I'm house sitting so I had to order one from Amazon, I should know how well it works by tonight. I'll reply to you when I find out.

Does this set up work if your pc is not connected via ethernet directly to the router? So if i have this right, you connect ethernet to the extender port and the extender gets the internet from wifi to the router. So it will act as a direct link from quest to pc over cabled connection while the pc and quest get internet through the wifi connection to the extender from primary router?
@MrTeeF6 ай бұрын
Your PC should always stay connected via LAN cable to the main network. i use a duel setup with both wifi and LAN connected. PC and Quest both get internet from the main router, but the internet connection is actually not important. Then streaming the Quest communicates directly with the PC over the network and the more stable connection and higher mbps to the actual router (not your internet download speed) the better the experience.
@Ballissle6 ай бұрын
@@MrTeeF I have no way to connect pc directly to main router via lan. Only via WiFi (or tplink powerline with 1/5th the speed i should get). I'm confused as to how you are then connecting. What do you have connected to the access point ethernet port on the tplink? My motherboard only has one LAN port so I couldn't even connect to both separately without a switch.

Hey, I have a really good i-mesh wifi router, do I then need a extender to make a seperate network for the vr headset?
@MrTeeF Жыл бұрын
Depends on the ruter i guess., but i doubt it has a second wifi. You can thought seperate your 2.5gHz and 5Ghz and just dedicat the 5Ghz to your headset. But if you're like me you probably use your 5 ghz for a lot of devices. But test using your regular network fist before investering in an extra ruter or extender. It might work fine on it's own. But if you experience stutters, then this might be an option.
@MrTeeF Жыл бұрын
If you have a Wifi6e router though then you good because the 6e network can be separated and is perfect to dedicate to your headset.

My speeds im not sure matter but i have 1130mbps down and 100mbps upload woth arojnd 12ms latency
@MrTeeF7 ай бұрын
The speed of your internet isn't the crucial factor here. When streaming PCVR, your headset directly communicates with your PC, so what matters most is your Mbps to your network. If you have a Wifi6 connection, you should be fine. However, if you're sharing your network with multiple devices, you might experience stuttering every 10 seconds or so due to potential bottlenecking. In such a scenario, consider investing in a dedicated router like this one.

I have a Huawei wifi 6 router, will this work for me or is it not compatible?
@MrTeeF10 ай бұрын
Should work. If you want it dedicated to your headset just wire it to your main router and set it up as an Access Point. fine.consumer.huawei.com/en/support/content/en-us15806373/

Yeah but I dont really understand how it should work. Cause as I understand you connect this to your router and not PC and how you actually stream your PC games through it? You connect your PC to this new dedicated 5gz network via Wi-fi or what?
@MrTeeF10 ай бұрын
An Access Point is simply an extension of your existing network. It creates a new Wi-Fi "port" that you can dedicate to your devices, removing any chance of bottlenecks or interference in that particular Wi-Fi signal. The Access Point and your PC are wired into your main network router.

Quest 2 has a max speed of 1200Mbps. Don't use 2.4 Ghz. On Quest 3 you need a 160Hz 5G network to get 2401 Mbps. But 1200Mbps is more then enough for a good wireless experience.

Little note here … This setup is primarily for your Quest 2! This will not work for Quest 3 because of a bug in the firmware: As of today there is a major bug in communication between Quest 3 and certain types of Router models. Essentially AX and AXE models but more might also be effected. I have been investering this bug since launch and finally both Meta and TP-Link have confirmed that the Quest3s negotiation protokolls with the routers is very unstable. This problem is totally unrelated to VD or AirPlay functionality, but it's here you'll notice the problem. As of right now the Mbps can flux from 1080 to 1900 on 6G and ocasinaly dip down below 800. Making it stutter and glitch in latency. On 5G it will flux between 1080 and 420 Mbps making it essentially unusable in wireless PC streaming. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHfVnWyoia97bqcsi=gGiN5pxrK-jiZQwn Both Meta and TP-Link are currently investering the problem. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqLMXpybjpuUp5Ysi=_0gB4sIprIVbpbpy Meta has stated that the problem will be fixed with a firmware build in the near future. communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Unstable-wifi-covarage-with-Quest-3-on-some-Router-Brands-Known/m-p/1099915#M241197
