James has been about a lot longer than that mate. Have a read of some 90's mags and he or JHS are mentioned in quite a few of them. I met him at a track day way back when and all thats changed is he went grey and got fatter. Just like me.

@siraff4461
@siraff4461 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulwood7798 It was a brilliant time in the biking world. I feel genuinely sorry for people who missed it. I remember when the first Fireblade came out and it caused a massive stir. Back then the average car was an 80-90hp Sierra/Cavalier so a 185kg (dry-granted) bike that could make over 130hp with the usual bolt ons was like something from another planet. It also felt like something special. Now the bikes are much better but a lot of them have lost that special feeling. Things like the ZX-9R, 916, R1 and so on all had their little traits which made them very different to ride. These days even though there are loads of different engines and makers they all have a certain sheen which seems to numb down their real character. I wouldn't go as far as to say they're boring but they do feel very generic in the way they behave. Its almost as though someone came up with limits for how fast the front can come up or how much it can try to tank slap. I admit it could well be rose tinted goggles but for me there are very few new bikes which make me feel special (1290R, Rocket, RSV4-11) where as back then you could get on most big bikes and they would give you the buzz.

I have popped into JHS numerous times, I've had the piss taken a lot but I've never been treated like an idiot even when I deserve it... James is a fountain of knowledge and is always willing to give his best advice... James and Will have built me an engine that missed 2nd in Thundersport this year by a point, all done without splitting the cases... James is how you hope everyone in the motorcycle business to be, unfortunately the vast majority of bike shops are just chasing money..

Please remember that the motorcycle tests are the minimum standard to be allowed on the road. Happily there are great people who will share their hard won knowledge with you for no reason but that they love to ride and want to share that. The motorcycle roadcraft system was designed by the best road riders to enable a 25 year career riding daily. Check out your local IAM club and get that knowledge for almost free. Lower insurance costs are good but not as important as staying well. Ride safe, making progress..

Yep. getting old sucks. Years after smashing an ankle a little bit of left over bove found it's way into the ankle joint when I bent it really far and it wouldn't go back straight for a couple days. X-rays and all that but they said they could cut me open but that would really only make it worse. Can't hear right because I never wore ear plugs or had a muffler. Busted hip back in the '80s wasn't so bad then but now is awful on cold days or after too long on a bike with a wide tank. Fingers on my left hand always typing the wrong letters. Being an old rider sucks. But I still want a go on that new Ducati Streetfighter. I still love the feeling of holding a low hovering power wheelie on my Speed Triple. But these days I'm as likely to actually ride my 900cc Bonneville as anything.

i love your whole series on budget bikes its so great to watch and really informative. I have an idea for the next budget bike series...hyperbikes?? The most famous and iconic motorbike of all time is the one and only Suzuki Hayabusa and the next best thing that beat the top speed of the Busa ..zx14 or the ZZR14. Chris could find a 2006-2008 first series Kawasaki as he likes these bikes and Fagan could find a 2nd generation, Busa. The views would go through the roof with these to bikes and you could settle the score once and for all which overall after a 3-4 day test is the best bike
