My ranking is a bit different but I do agree with your number 1 house, this was my first ever HHN and honestly it was a great experience overall. Did all of the houses and Insidious The Further still lives rent free in my head. Got to do it twice and is easily the scariest house. The fact that you entered the house through a gigantic red door made it for me THE house of HHN 33.
@rschaen2 ай бұрын
I agree with Major Sweets. It’s too chaotic to pay much attention to the sets. There is always someone in your face and constant loud banging, so that your senses are overloaded and it’s hard to focus on anything else. However, I would still rate it higher.
@M3m3l0rd122 ай бұрын
Insidious is easily the best house at this years HHN. Had incredible scares and the detail was great representing the 5 films. In 2nd I had A Quiet Place due to how interesting it was with it being all quiet and the puppets of the Death Angels. But dam, Universal had balls to involve both a dead dog in Triplets of Terror and a baby getting ripped in half in Monstruos

Insidious was ranked low for me, simply due to the issue of not knowing much of anything about Insidious. The house was fantastic and I enjoyed certain scenes (liked the different mannequin mazes), but for me storyline is important as well. Since I don't know much about Insidious, I didn't feel invested in what I was walking throughout. Perhaps my opinions would be better if I had know about Insidious more. That is why most of the original houses this year were much better in my experience for me.

I'd say "A QuIet Place" is the scariest house this year for one reason: They put in corn. For those who don't know, there's a superstition that if HHN puts corn in one of their houses, a storm's going to hit Florida.

Interesting, do you know when that superstition started?

Slaughter Cinema 2 a triumph for us. A great house with some great scenes. We got a really good run through of Bloodlines too so have this high in the ranking. Sadly Triplets was a fail for us but overall we enjoyed all the houses this year. All had merit.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I didn’t find Insidious very scary at all. I haven’t seen the movies, so the main scary guy just reminds me of a discount Darth Mall, partnered with the Bride of Frankenstein if she was hit by a car. The sound bite in the first room of “He’s got DaBaby” took me out the environment for the rest of the house. I even had the triple scare (which usually hit me the hardest) at the end line up just right, and it fell flat. I think it’s the longest house, which if you’re scared will make it seem even scarier. But for me it made it goofier. Where is Darth Maul’s silly uncle going to pop out next?

This was my list, houses first followed by scare zones 1. Insidious: The Further 2. A Quiet Place 3. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines 4. Slaughter Sinema 2 5. Major Sweet’s Candy Factory 6. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire 7. Monstrous: Monsters of Latin America 8. Goblins Feast 9. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits 10. Triplets of Terror 1. Swamp of the Undead 2. Torture Faire 3. Demon Queens 4. Enter the Blumhouse 5. Duality of Fear That said, every part of this year’s event hit with me. I just liked some things better than others. Totally agree on Insidious being one of the greatest houses in recent years, especially as an IP house, but my favorite one for this year has got to be Monstruous. Seriously the most incredible monster design that I can remember at HHN. So beautifully scary! I also really enjoyed Slaughter Sinema 2, it’s like sketch horror vignettes that are really easy to follow along in each room and you don’t miss out on the whole story if you miss one detail/scare. The shark wasn’t moving when I passed by it though, and that was sort of a bummer.

Today was my first HHN. I think Insidious had the best pacing and atmosphere, and the ending scare got me but it wasn’t consistently scary for the wait time. Frozen Empire had great sets and it had moments but it was a bit loud and annoying which became a consistent theme for the rest of the houses. Overall sadly I didn’t think HHN was worth it. The local houses, mazes, and hayrides I grew up with were much scarier than HHN but that could just be a regional thing. The IP was carrying heavy and the scares lacked creativity imo. That being said nothing was bad, just disappointed given the hype. The stage show was amazing though!

But I felt like the originals were pretty good, I definitely think Slaughter Sinema 2, Triplets of Terror, and the Latin America house were probably the best of the originals this year and arguably better than a majority of the IP houses. @@VincentVision Personally, I don't think it makes too much of a difference because even if it jumps from the 1984 party to 2024, it still takes you through different locations, like the shed, the cake tasting area, and the meat locker. It still feels like you are going through different parties even if it's the same year. Also, logistically with them having masks on it would be very hard to differentiate age differences for 5 different time periods and the casting that would be needed.
