You Sir are one of the few stackers I agree with...So many are caught up in the spot price that they think generics are the way to go. You don't have to be a numismatist to get the fact that real government issue coinage is going to be more in demand.
@john-ze7eu
@john-ze7eu Жыл бұрын
I liked how you brought it to our attention between, 'low and high demand periods'. That pretty much tells us everything. I called a bunch of coin shops yesterday asking about gold buybacks on maples and eagles (interesting findings there too). I also asked several about silver buyback. It seemed that they were itching to get their hands on generic buffaloes and offering nice premiums too. What they didn't really want were the 100oz and kilo bars and offered well below spot on both

Yep, exactly. Demand for metals fluctuates, in addition to the types of sizes of the metals through different periods.

In my opinion, 90% constitutional (aka "junk") silver is the way to go. It's highly recognizable, has low premiums, is fractional in nature, and is easy to buy and sell at any given time. You touched on Morgan silver dollars in the video, which technically falls in this category, but tends to have a numismatic premium on top. Morgans may be fun to collect, but I think 90% half dollars, quarters, and dimes are better for investing.

9:41 BRUTAL!!! And I love it😆😆😆 how am I just finding this silver channel.?! This is the same stuff I say in the comments on other silver channels where they’re paying extra premiums and slobbering over the designs and looking at my comments sideways for buying at $26 and calling them out on not buying- “Oooo da premiumzz iz too high right now. I’m gonna wait for my precious $15 spot before I buy again 👗👠💅👩‍🔧.” Meanwhile I’m putting their silver in my safe. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Brian Taylor I don’t know but welcome to the debauchery! Good man! Keep on stacking because the days of $15 are behind us. The people waiting for $15-$18 silver are the same folks who didn’t buy gold at $1300 because “it’s too high”. They are all waiting for it to drop a few dollars to drop, meanwhile they missed the entire bus. More silver for us. 🙌👊😎

Fascinating discussion, thank you. I haven't started to buy silver yet, but I'm looking at it pretty closely. I won't be buying collector's items, rarities, proofs, anything like that. I will buying currency, coins I can buy food, gas, and ammo with In The Event. That seems to mean "junk" silver. Still--it's clear that if I'm in the market at all, I need to be aware of these factors in order to recognize good deals when I stumble across them.

CC and viewers, I am researching collecting/storing silver. This has been on my mind for two years, but did not know where to start. I am getting an education. I enjoy information like this video. I am 56 years of age, and I want a little safety net while in retirement if medical issues threaten savings/IRA/401. My wife is questioning me big time, but I have no real good answers. If I do not spend the metal I intend to leave it to my kids. I the most difficult issue to resolve is storage. Gold seems easier due to volume, but a lot more money to fork out. I do not "intend" to try to become a well knowledgeable collector, but I want to know the basics. Thank you for the straight talk.

Loved this straight talk video... something I haven't seen/heard much of on the myriad stacker channels I watch. Interesting comment about the lack of mild spotting on Morgans and Kooks. Just curious, but if those generic buffalo rounds had the info, such as the name of the bigtime precious metal dealer, would they then be more worthy of moving up and out of your lowest category? When I first began, I obtained a few tubes of different, attractive rounds that have that company name/logo, so I'm just wondering if that is enough to keep them from your basement level? Thx. Enjoyed your video greatly. New sub, so I didn't know what to expect, but, if your others are like this, I'll be very glad. Enjoyed actually getting some REAL info and guidance rather than the "everything is beautiful" fluff/nonsense.

Whats the point of the Pamp serial number? You cannot check it. Any forger can put on any number. From the Pamp FAQ: Where can I check certificate numbers for PAMP bullion products? We do not provide this as a general service, however we may do so under exceptional circumstances. If you believe yours is such a case please contact us.
@CampbellsCoins
@CampbellsCoins 4 жыл бұрын
It's true, one can't check it now. But Pamp or Geiger may decide to make a database later it might be possible. Each PAMP assay has a QR code that may verify it's legitimacy later. It's also shows the mintage for that year. It's really no different from why we collect other items with serial numbers; collectibility.

if shtf your are going to grab your shotgun and a pack of ammo, and leave your heavy silver behind so you will have space for food. You will be a nomad unless you are lucky enough to have months worth of food and ammo, which you will still need to find after that runs out. all that while keeping raiders off of your ass. Horde silver to keep your wealth in a physical form, and to be protected from hyperinflation scenario. Don't expect it to save your life though. Marksmanship and survival skills are far more valuable for that.

If I'm looking to sell silver, Id sell generic silver bars first. I don't want to get rid of my coins. Those might be hard to replace so those would be the last to go. I'm not too worried about spot price: if bought at $10-$20/ounce and sold at $25-$30/ounce, why care too much about spot because you're making a profit anyway? But as far as stacking and saving, I like ASE and mapleleafs.

Here's the problem with going with higher premium coins like a kook over an eagle - if the price of silver doubled tomorrow the premium wouldn't double with it. That means that as a percentage of your investment, you're actually losing money buying premium coins because while you will get a higher dollar amount, you also paid a higher dollar amount, so the percentage return is lower. Example - I can get eagles for $2 over spot in Orlando or kooks for $10 over spot online. Let's say silver was $25 when I bought one of each and now it's $50 so I sell them both. I paid $27 and $35 and since the premium doesn't really change, I sell them for $52 and $60 respectively. I make a 92% profit on the eagle but only a 71% profit on the kook - which is the better investment?
@mudguppy
@mudguppy 4 жыл бұрын
I call bullshit on buying ASE at $2.00 over spot. I live in South Florida, and from LCS from Naples to Sarasota they are $5.00 to $9.00 over spot depending upon your relationship with the dealer and # of Eagles being purchased. But that is just my experience. I can't buy hand poured junk or generic for two bucks over right now.

@TheBooban 4 жыл бұрын

@@TheBooban That's why you go with the percentage return on investment. If you were buying ingots would you go with the price per ounce or the price per ingot? If you go by price per ingot then a $50 one ounce ingot is a better deal than a $55 two ounce ingot. Understand?
@CampbellsCoins
@CampbellsCoins 4 жыл бұрын
The better investment is whichever you can sell. Who cares if, for example, your generic buffalo has a higher percentage profit if you can't sell it. In 2011 when the price of silver rose to near $50, shops weren't buying generic and if they did, it was well below spot, because the demand for buying generic silver was so low and the demand to sell was so high. Very few people got out at $48. Most sold for it's next price break of $35. The example you gave is also why Kooks and Libs were not at the top for the best silver to buy. That's a hell of a deal on ASEs btw. Good for you!

They are not the most beautiful bars, well at least mine was not, but who cares, It’s an Engelhard and as time moves forward, they increase in value. I was really surprised on how heavy it was. I guess back in the eighties they really took pride in their work and I always wonder how many hands it has gone through before it reached mine. And how many states it has been through before reaching my state. Anyway, Congratulations.

Yes. You’re doing it right. Never clean coins. Bars & rounds don’t matter, they’re just weight

You will never get back the premium you pay on PAMP. When do you anticipate low demand period with silver required for EVs, solar panels, circuit boards, medical and dental uses? Mines will never dig out enough silver to support future "green" living.
@CampbellsCoins
@CampbellsCoins 3 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ on the premium for PAMP, check out some of the sold prices on Feebay. I do not anticipate low demand periods for silver anymore. The clean energy push will drastically raise demand and prices. I've covered exactly what you're saying in many other videos. Thanks for watching and for a great comment 👊

Works for coin dealer, Campbell's coins. Of course he will only endorse extremely high premium coins. Highly circulated Morgans and Peace dollars are "junk silver" equivalent with less silver contact.

Silly. Yes some have a higher premium when you sell but you PAY for that premium when you buy. Same with the low premium stuff. In the end its all silver.
@CampbellsCoins
@CampbellsCoins 4 жыл бұрын
Except those premiums on the generic and the higher end stuff do not remain constant in relation to one another, the premiums on the higher end silver jumps up a lot more. Stupid or not, it’s the state of reality and has a bearing on what people buy.

Britannias are completely tax exempt in the UK and is a big deal over there. I don't know which other national coin is tax exempt like that.

Personal choice and depends on where you live.. US then American eagles could be your tea.. if you live in UK then silver as a tax free investment is more interesting.. if you are a international traveler then pamp may offer you more option when selling.. I personally like to collect limited edition with high premium.. and I prefer Britannia’s and panda over eagles as they are both backed by gov but more limited in numbers..

@@33cattt49 depends on how you wanted your coin to end really, milk spot happens mostly on circulated coins and as the premium are close to the spot.. it doen't effect the value of the coin by huge amount.. there is a huge fuzz over milk spot.. but i don't see it as a problem.. as antique dealer or collector sometimes use those "milk spot" as an identification from the mint.. the best advice i got from a antique dealer is never make your coin dirty, and never clean your antique.. unless you are a professional.. as a clean silver is not welcome by a lot of collectors.. they want well preserved not clean.
