Jethro insists on returning to Dr. Twombly to secure his health certificate for fifth-grade graduation, despite Miss Jane’s efforts to explain that Twombly is a psychiatrist, not a regular doctor. Meanwhile, Granny confidently predicts rain, though Miss Jane argues that the newspaper forecasts clear skies. At Twombly’s office, Jethro has yet another baffling conversation with the psychiatrist but eventually leaves with his bill of health. Later, Twombly tells Drysdale that he’s fascinated by Granny’s home remedies and wants to learn more. This sparks Pearl’s interest, and she confides to Granny that she finds Twombly somewhat appealing.
Drysdale brings Twombly to the Clampett mansion just as Granny demonstrates a love potion to Pearl, leading everyone to believe that Twombly has fallen under its spell and is romantically interested in Granny. Alarmed, Granny attempts to “break the spell” by blowing a special powder on Twombly, but his continued interest in talking to Granny convinces the family that the potion is still working. Pearl, determined to win Twombly over, tries to impress him with her yodeling, but her efforts fall flat. Twombly, still intent on spending time with Granny, invites her for a drive in his convertible. Granny refuses, insisting it’s going to rain, while Twombly, trusting the forecast, assures her it won’t. However, the moment they step outside, it begins to pour, leaving Twombly both surprised and impressed by Granny’s uncanny prediction.
