I have been saying for years I have adhd. I am all over the place and I joined ww again because I lost some and just got off track. I am on a 40 day bible study. Also I feel like God has been pushing me to do a bible study with our church with the kids or with the ladies. I definitely work best under pressure. Also I am praying so hard for my girls and their salvation. I feel like you were just speaking straight to me.

Working best under pressure is a big red flag for adhd, because under pressure (or in chaos) we get a dopamine surge and we become unstoppable (aka hyper focused). It’s about the only super power we have. The rest of adhd kinda just stinks.

Yep, I’m a starter and not good at finishing. Just like you with the cleaning. Feel weak and tired but can only push through if one of these “accountants” comes along, and then I push through somehow. Tired afterwards too, but I get it done. The pressure of someone else seeing, yes, and I tend to forget about God, you’re right! And I’m task orientated. So I’ll come into a room to fetch something and I’ll leave the drawer open and walk away without shutting it. I was overcome with a wave of nausea this morning, but now it’s time to work cos I feel better. And I’m watching KZbin. Sorry Lord

Nicki, it was like you were talking about me! I have the same problem with getting bored and trying to do too many things. Although, I've never been diagnosed with anything. Sometimes I just don't have the energy to do anything. I also have two teenagers on the Autism spectrum and understand what you are going through. My daughter is 18 and nonverbal, she requires more than my 14 year old son, who's higher functioning. They both are totally different and require a lot of my time daily. Usually, by the end of the day I am totally spent. Still, I do manage to wake up at 5 am and spend that time with God (quiet time or Bible study). Even with all that, I still tend to procrastinate and I do need more accountability, so you are not alone.

Yes! Procrastination is my issue. There’s always “later” to do something. Years ago when my boys were younger I was cleaning the house and one of them asked, “Are we having company?” Not that time but it was telling me that my habits were showing. I don’t have ADHD but consistency is a struggle.

Wow, glad I stumbled onto your video. Maybe ADHD is my problem, I don't know but I start a project and don't finish it before I move to on to something else. I buy all this stuff and I don't use it because I've moved onto something else. I'm easily distracted, can't stay focused, and consistency is out the window. On my job I can't work on things daily, I have to let things pile up and get to deadline day to rush to get everything done. I have days I just don't have the energy or strength to do anything; I think I do need accountability.

I too have ADHD and a creative mind and need to be held accountable to accomplish stuff. I'm working on starting a business and it feels like an uphill battle! I've started Bible journaling (how great is that for creative people? 😊) which has lit a fire in me for God's Word that I've never had before 🙌 but I'm struggling with how to do a good Bible study and then this pops up in my feed. This definitely spoke to me.

I haven’t been diagnosed with it because I haven’t discussed it with a dr. But I know I have it I do the same and I’m creative and I do the same thing. I say ok I want to start this buy all the stuff then never ever even get it started I have money tied up in all this stuff and don’t even start. Then I have buyers remorse and sit and cry because of the waiste then I see another crafter or KZbinr doing something and run out and buy all the stuff for that. It’s a never ending cycle and it’s depressing and a horrible thing for anyone to have.
@nickidrake

It definitely makes life harder. Satan wants you to feel remorse and shame, so don’t let him. Ask God to help you stop impulsive shopping, every day. And just keep working on it. You will have times you fail. And it’s okay. Keep praying, keep asking.

I came across your proverbs book and I’m currently going through that . I don’t want to start another one I need to stay focused 😊. I really want to do the revelation Bible class too but I need to finish this one first . I’m just so happy I came across your books . Oh my Goodness... Based on your description of your ADHD that sounds almost exactly the same issues I have. I've always thought that ADHD was just hyper children. But the description of how you lose the dopamine which makes you lose the ability to do things, I've suffered with that for years. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. You are my favorite KZbin channel and I wish I could get started with the online Bible Study. I'm already a member I just have so many other things that I'm trying to get done that I don't make the time to do the Study that you're doing. I'm doing small snippets of different Books in the Bible but I'm not sure I'm accomplishing anything! Thanks again for all that you do.

Wow. Thanks for this! You just described me to a T! I never thought it was ADHD. But I have a problem where I will study one thing and that will get me off on studying something else and I never get back to what I wanted to originally study. Also I tend to grab one of my bibles... l read it for a few weeks and then I find myself switching to another one. It's so frustrating because I feel like I start big and do too much too soon and then I never finish it.

What Christian accountability looks like is a struggle for me… being involved in BS all the time, I see many groups start with 20 and end 6 weeks later with 7. What we say is…” it’s ok, just do what you can” . Not very good for accountability as shown by shotty attendance at best. Not good for those who have issues with commitment, but also for the rest that are there to be with fellow Christians for their accountability. Funny thing is, when you question this, people become indignant and throw out the “ we shouldn’t judge”. So I am asking this with a sincere heart…What is Christian accountability? As you mentioned one day we will all stand before God….how many will be shocked at what he says? Iron is supposed to sharpen iron….how can we help each other in the Laocedia church age of lukewarm noncommittal? Thank you so much, Nikki!

How do you know what goes on in my brain?? 😉😉. Although never "formally" diagnosed with ADD - I can see the signs. And looking back through my life the signs were there. I don't think I have so my the hyper part of it but definitely the attention deficit part. So many unfinished projects. So many attempts at doing one thing or another. So many thoughts of "I'll just create something that works for me!". Sounds like I need to check out your Bible Study book and your daughter's prayer book. Thanks for sharing with us!

How I have missed you! ❤😊 Welcome back! So, here I am, contemplating my failed Bible markup system. Should I give it up? Is there a better markup/highlight method? 😂 It is my first Bible, and although it is cost less than two watered down Starbucks coffees... It is God's Word and I want to keep it for as long as I live (and beyond!). Any ideas on how to move forward? I feel like I have used symbols on ALMOST EVERY BIBLE VERSE.😂😅

It’s so easy to feel that way and want to start over but yes, stick it out because you will cherish it someday looking back. I would just color code God with one color and then use other random colors to highlight whatever stands out to you personally!! Hope that helps!!!

Lately my sister just got rid of all of her favorite movies and anime, because she thinks that’s the right way to truly give up something and they’re “idols” that’s hindering her walk with the Lord and when I told my mother about it, she said that someone’s misleading my sister the wrong way. Is that the right way or not. And when I mention an anime known as sailor moon, she just won’t talk about it and now she’s not telling me where she’s moving
@nickidrake
@nickidrake 3 ай бұрын
We all feel different convictions from the Holy Spirit so it must be that your sister feels convicted that those things have become more important to her than God in her life. So she is getting rid of them. So she cAn focus more on God. It’s all about WHO sits on the throne of your heart. Where do you spend your time? What do you get most excited about? If it’s not God, and things that further His kingdom, then it may be an idol. Hope that makes sense. ❤️❤️❤️

Nicki, after watching this video of yours and reading all the comments, you can add me to the number of AhHa moments that have occurred as a result of your video. What you listed in your video are things I've said, did, and experienced as long as I can remember. When I get interested in something new and buy everything I think I'll need for it, my kids go, huh oh, how long will your interest in this one last? Or I walk into a room to do one thing and get waylaid by 10 other things before I end up getting to what I was going to do to begin with, etc. I constantly put things off until they HAVE to get done and have always said, I just work best under pressure. After watching this video, I'm wondering if ADHD is what is really at the root of it all. Can you recommend a website that you like/ use about ADHD or know of one that has a test to determine if someone has it? I don't want to take up a doctor's time talking about it since it wouldn't be worth seeking medical treatment or therapy at this point of my life so I would rather read to learn more about it. Thanks for filming this video.
