She has a PhD in this field, and is a professor. She knows her stuff. She not only reads it in the original language, but also in its original context and cultural lens. People that only study the Bible, but not other ancient religions, won't see the parallels the same way. It's comical yet sad that so many came here to correct her when they don't have a smidge of the knowledge on this subject that she has. People are so scared to question the validity of their beliefs that they will argue without even giving it some real study or thought. Of course, people double down and have all the confirmation bias there is. I am so grateful to not be Christian anymore. It messes with one's logic, and they would rather believe a book that has a talking snake in it is God's word over considering the possibility that the ancient Hebrew god, Yahweh, was just another god made up by people. It's sad because this is the same god that told people to wipe out entire villages, including children. It was totally accepted by Yahweh to take young virgin girls into captivity and "marry" (aka assault) them. Have your Yahweh. Yuck.

Do not spread misinformation about God of bible with your half knowledge. You should know theologians and biblical scholars translated the scriptures into thousands of languages from ORIGINAL text. God is supernatural. n Nothing can be compared to him. We DIDNOT create Him. He created us. God in the bible ordered Israelite to retaliate the enemies ex: sihon and og. Sihon and og attacked Israelites when Israelites asked them permission to pass through and even purchase food and water. Amelekites first attacked Israelites when they were helpless. God ordered Israelites to marry slaves captured in war and treat them fairly. Read scriptures before you comment.

The major lexica (BDB, _DCH,_ _HALOT,_ e.g.) consistently associate the term in Ezekiel 1:27 with מָתְנַיִם, most specifically with the translation “loins.” Among the meanings of the English term _loins_ is “the reproductive organs,” as in the phrase “fruit of my loins.” The implications in the case of a male deity are obvious. Whether a scholarly consensus exists for such a reading at Ezekiel 1:27 is another matter, but there seems nothing crazy or incompetent about the notion. The ancient Mediterranean gods had bodies, with genitalia, whether in ancient Mesopotamia, Canaan, Egypt, Greece, or Rome--that includes ancient Israel.

And...among the English interpretation of the word is Hips, or lower part of the back. How convenient of you to leave that out. A spirit being, who is self Described as eternal, has no need for a dick. Lmao.

@@dcogent1, you apparently missed the context of the statement, as in the rest of the post. Ancient gods in the region had bodies, including genitals. These ancient gods were not purely spiritual beings, including Yahweh/El/Baal. That’s why the ancient temple had a throne for him. It wasn’t any metaphor. Gods as purely spiritual beings is a much later development in the history of religion of the region.

@@Steve-hu9gw You confuse YHWH, the Elohim of Israel with Baal, the diety of the Canaanites. Furthermore you conflate your understanding of said Diety with what he actually reveals about himself. Therefore, I'm simply more inclined to understand what the patron Diety of the children of Israel revealed about His person, character, and attributes...than someone pontificating about things they don't completely understand. Which is why it's quite convenient you left out the APPLICABLE definition of the word in relation to Ezekiel 1:27 for the definition that supports your narrative. All that to say, I didnt miss anything, I highlighted what was pertinent. You simply chose to talk around that.

@@dcogent1, you obviously understand nothing about biblical studies or scholarship. I was never addressing how Ezekiel 1:27 should be interpreted, nor am I now. My point was to clarify that there is nothing crazy or academically incompetent being proposed in this video. FYI, I spoke in terms of Yahweh/El/Baal because the god of ancient Israel is precisely such an amalgamation. I didn’t make that up. That’s the longtime scholarly consensus. In fact, everything I’ve been saying is consensus scholarship. (Though note with precision what I have and have not been saying. You’ve demonstrated considerable problems in that regard.) I know. I have a degree in this stuff.
@dcogent1
@dcogent1 Жыл бұрын
@@Steve-hu9gw - “I have a degree in this stuff” - That’s great..yet, that makes you no more a scholar in this than my degree in Genetics makes me a Geneticists. The difference between you and me, is that I actually know the Bible, live the Bible and Know YHWH as my patron Diety. You simply pontificate about what you think you know, behind the auspices of your degree… much like the Sunday Christian pastor who has no idea what he is talking about much of the time when it comes to the same. For example: You stated that "...there was a throne in the temple.." My man… there was no throne in the damn temple. There was a throne ON THE ARK OF THE COVENANT. If you have evidence to the contrary...provide it. What this should show you is: Just because you think you know what you’re speaking of, doesn’t mean you do. Ok, so what....You may not have been speaking of how Ezekiel 1:27 should be interpreted… BUT I WAS. Lol. What part of that don’t you understand. Furthermore, YHWH has NOTHING to do with the patron Diety of the Cannanites… nothing. If you studied the bible, instead of relied of what you’ve been inseminated with, you’d know just that. Unlike Baal, and the plethora of Heathen dieties, YHWH has NEVER had a image constructed of Him, and as a matter of fact He spoke at length about the difference between him and the dieties of the surrounding Canaanite tribes. I mean what, in your mind becuase YHWH is translated Lord as is Baal the two can be conflated? You can’t get past the first of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20) without knowing that is folly. And, Since you went there, The REASON why this position expressed in the video is PROBLEMATIC is because: 1. not only does it fly directly in the face of everything the Torah, the Nabim and the Ketuvim reveals about YHWH, the Spirit. 2. It, like you, actually ignores the CONTEXTUAL USE OF THE WORD in question. Case and point… YHWH is clearly SPIRT, not a flesh and blood being… as told by that one individual who knows better than you, me, or the people who taught you… that being Yeshua Ha Mashiach. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” ‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Let’s take that one step further: “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭39‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Again… why would a Spirit, a NON FLESH AND BLOOD BEING… have need for a damn penis… make that make sense. So, good for you, you have a degree I'm sure your parents are proud. But you’re knowledge of the patron Diety of the children of Israel and how he presents HIMSELF to HIS prophets and HIS people via HIS WORD aka THE BIBLE.... is severely lacking.

VIRILITY is a particularly masculine attribute. Regardless of how often or how commonly people misuse language (I don't care if everyone says it wrong), fertility is something that only women have. Women are fertile, and men are virile. You wouldn't call a seed fertile as well as the field it grows in, you would call the seed viable. Pollen and sperm have virility or a lack thereof. They completely lack this fertility you speak of. So do men.

Fertility and infertility can be applied to both male and female as they both can be fertile and infertile. And I don’t get why the word “fertility” being attributed to males is a problem or why it matters. It’s just a word used to demonstrate the healthy state of the reproductive system or something of the sort. What does it matter exactly? Male and female can be referred to as fertile since it all really means the same thing for both males and female to be fertile (which again, insinuate the healthy state of the reproductive system).

I was merely pointing out that it doesn’t matter whether Male is described as fertile, because it in-tale the same meaning if a female were called fertile. That is why there exist male fertility gods in many other myths. It simply doesn’t matter.

No. The word in Hebrew used for the description of the Lord from the waist down in Ezekiel 1 is "אֵשׂ" which from the strongs exhaustive concordance means, "A primitive word; fire (literally or figuratively) -- burning, fiery, fire, flaming, hot." And is translated in English "of fire" in reference to the appearance that He had from the waist down. In Ezekiel 1, the only reference to wings is made when referring to the wings of the living creatures that were described in the beginning of the vision, that were distinct from the Lord, according to Ezekiel.

First, her evidence that “God’s loins were exposed” didn’t justify her claim that he was “certainly well endowed”. Second, why the hell would a God need a penis? Who is it intercoursing with, and why? This begs the question - does God also have sperm, which are cells? Does God have other cells and do those cells comprise a physical body like ours? If so, where is that body?

@@Scott-et4kd Sir, Begging the question is not considered a formal fallacy. She used a Bible verse out of context to support a false premise that ancient Israelites believed God had genitals or specifically a penis. There are clear verses in Bible that debunks her premise. Example, Numbers 23:19 King James Version 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: As Jesus tells us elsewhere, “a spirit has not flesh and bones” (Luke 24:39). There is a big difference between being a spirit and having a spirit. Jesus says that the Father is a spirit, not that the Father has a spirit; this means that he lacks a body entirely. She fails at understanding the cultural context of Ezekiel 1 which is to Gods preeminence over the Israelites worship of Egyptian idols, Mim or the Greek god Priapas. She attempted to cherry pick and isolate a single text in Ezekiel without reading the rest of book which clearly Ezekiel 23. 20 She remembered her lover with the penis like a donkey and a flood of semen like a horse. This is the part she's talking about in Ezekiel, where you get "clear allusions to [God's] genitals": "Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. 27 I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. 28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him."

My Hebrew is pretty rusty, so I’ll just take her word that it means loins, which conjures up quite an image. Essentially it’s this “loin” floating in the centre of a ball of fire. But is the god that Yahweh (sp?) is drawn from a fertility god? I thought it was a war/storm god? But then there was some other that was stirred in? It doesn’t sound like there was anything in Ezekiel that specifically says that gods halowed unit is particularly girthy, but is there more in the mythows that he evolved from?

Even when examining the **original Hebrew text** of Ezekiel 1:26-28, there is no indication of anything like what that woman is describing. The Hebrew text is focused on the **radiance, fire, and glory** surrounding the figure, and these details are metaphorical, representing God's holiness and power. In the Hebrew, the word used for "waist" in **Ezekiel 1:27** is **מָתְנָיו** ("motnayv"), which literally means the "loins" or "waist," referring to the midsection of the figure. The description is of **fire and glowing brightness** coming from this area both above and below. The original language emphasizes the brightness, fire-like appearance, and the majesty of the figure, not any literal exposure of the body or genitals. It's possible this woman encountered misread or misinterpreted the text, as there is no reference in the Hebrew to anything about uncovered body parts or genitals. The passage is about God’s **radiance** and **glory**, metaphorically using light and fire to communicate His divine nature, not a physical, human-like portrayal.

And either the loins or human figure had brightness around it (doesnt state him btw). you could counter argue he ate magic mushrooms, as most religious leaders did back then and still do now ritualistically, as it's nature from god/s

Actually, that is not accurate at all. Loins are not the genitals, first of all. Loins are either side of the back above the butt. Nice try, though. Anyone who wants the truth can look into Ezekiel themselves. Analyze the Hebrew. It is not referring to that part of the body being the only visible part at all. The text is describing the height on his body to which the fire appeared to be. More accurately translated to "waist". The same word appears later in Ezekiel, in chapter 48 and it talks about wading up to water to the knee and then the water getting deeper and wading up to his "loins" or waist. Look up the meaning and origin of "gird your loins". People back then we're actually living lives full of threat and danger. There are some very vulnerable organs back there. The "loin" guard did indeed cover the genitals but it was pulled all the way up to the middle of the back to protect one's actual LOINS from being vulnerable to attack. I am calling confirmation bias. It's such a stretch. 😆. I can't be arsed to watch the whole video. Does she actually have any other examples of the Abrahamic covenant God having been a fertility god? Or is this it? Sincerely.

I supposed it depends on how we're defining "fertility god," but almost every major female character in the Bible has a story in which they are infertile, they appeal to god, they pass some test of faith, and then god grants them fertility. I think that's a pretty strong case for his role as a fertility god, but it says nothing about him having literal genitals.

If you are serious about understanding Dr. Stavrakopoulou's position, read her book "God: An Anatomy." She not only covers Yahweh's fertility god status in depth, but explains the cultural context of male fertility gods, as well as countless other interesting things about God's body in the Bible. But you couldn't even demonstrate sufficient intellectual honestly and good faith to finish this ridiculously short video, so I mark your chances of reading her book slim. Your interpretation of "loins" in this context is flat wrong, and the evidence is laid out quite clearly in her book.

Isaiah 11:5 "And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins." Isaiah 21:3 "Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it." - ouch 🤕 Daniel 5:6 "Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another." See how the context matters? Deuteronomy 4:15-16 "Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the Lord spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female."

""... its striking resemblance to the 'Theogony' of the Greek poet Hesiod. There the Earth (Gaia) gives birth to Heaven (Uranos); then Uranos and Gaia together become the parents of Kronos and the Titans. Uranos hates his children and seeks to prevent their birth, but Kronos, incited by Gaia, emasculates his father with a sickle, and out of the blood which flows comes forth the Erinyes (Furies), the Giants, and the Melian nymphs, while Aphrodite is born from the foam what's arises when the severed member falls into the sea. Kronos and his wife Rhea then beget the Olympian gods, foremost among whom is Zeus. Kronos swallows all his children except Zeus, who is saved by the substitution of a stone which Kronos swallows instead of him. Zeus, on growing to manhood, forces Kronos to spit out the gods whom he has swallowed, and the stone, which comes out first, is set up as a cult-object at Pytho (Delphi). The poem ends with the Battle of the Gods and Titans and the final victory of the Olympians. Hesiod's sequence Uranus-Kronos-Zeus is matched in the hittite version by the sequence: Anu (Sumerian 'an'= heaven)- Kumarbi, father of the gods,- Weather-god, though Alalu in the Hittite version represent a still older generation unknown to Hesiod. The emasculation of the Sky-god occurs in both myths, though the motif of the swallowing and spitting out seems to have become attached to a different incident. In the broken part of the tablet there is some reference to Kumarbi eating and to a stone which may possibly correspond to the Pythian 'omphalos' of Hesiod's version; & it is probable that the Hittite myth ends with the victory of the Weather-god. These points of resemblance are enough to establish a strong probability that both versions derive ultimately from the same Hurrian myth. The 'Song of Ullikummi'...""

This seems dishonest given the context and the actual Scripture she is referencing. From His loins up (loins or hip area) there was a vision of burning metal or amber. From His loins down, burning fire radiating down. Anyone from that time who saw this vision wouldn’t think YHWH was flashing them, but that the top half of His appearance was more of a solid, molten fire, and His bottom half has radiating fire. By the logic she is using, the “wheels” in this same vision should be some type of orifice, right? Wrong. This is a cheap and poorly constructed attempt to cheapen the truth of Christianity by lumping YHWH together with mythical deities.

Isaiah 14:20-23 [20]Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. [21]Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities. [22]For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD. [23]I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.

Revelation 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll. If anyone adds anything to them, GOD will add to that person the plaques described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, GOD will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City which are described in this scroll. Proverbs 12:12-13 The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures. Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk, and so the innocent escape trouble. Proverbs 13:15 The righteous hates what is false, but the wicked makes themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves. Proverbs 13:16 All who are prudent act with knowledge, but fools expose their folly.

God in bible is supernatural. You cannot make graven images or contain Him in a form. He is beyond description. Nothing can be compared to Him. Prophet Ezekiel saw a fraction of His glorious majesty. He is Holy God. No one is allowed to enter naked or revealing clothes in His presence. One should even cover their head to enter His temple.

@@azman1186 To make this kind of argument, you would have to know the Hebrew words and know with precision how they divided up the body. And some of this may have been lost to time. For example, we know that their concept of the "hands" also included the wrists and forearm. But we would never "hands" in this way. So unless we can say with confidence what "Moten" means, we cannot make such arguments.

What is the point in saying such things? Do we think that because we pretend to know the truth we can utter it at the four winds? Every idea is true in itself but not every idea is the truth. Therefore we should not go in search of idiotic ideas, told by people who lack sensitivity and any form of understanding, but we should stop scrolling and go outside, in the real world in search of the truth in his pure essence

One thing she hides is the fact that Abraham's father an idol maker was challenged by Abraham concerning their false idols but God was watching When people first come to know yahweh they asumed he was just one of the man made gods so they tried to give him a wife and put him in a pantheon Yahweh even at one point said No longer call me lord or (baal) but husband because he is married to israel He knew he was being confised with baal whos name means lord Baal statues always have left foot forwarded wit right hand raised holding things or pointing up Same as bafomet Baal idols are always found with a female statue Ishtar, inana, aphrodite She is always related to sexual immorality of all kinds, intoxication and gender roles flip She is the mother of harlots Yahweh challenged every false god that stood up to differentiate him from the idols. This woman is a false teacher. Catholics took that ancient form of Babylonian paganism and renamed it all to look Christian so this form of false religion is still active today Americans dont realize we are headed down a bad path These false god demons are the cause of every collapsed society on earth Youll see they prospered, they go perverse and sexually immoral then they die in one day. These demons have limited abilities They must ask God permission to do anything so if God gives us personal choice and we choose to worship a demon that wants harsh torment for man then you die by whatever that demon chooses then you go where they go Hell The evidence of the most active demons show everywhere American Christians have grown in a country where the signs of ishtar and baal are everywhere but overlooked Christians unknowingly take part in rituals to demons and fallen angels Not to say they knowingly do this The oversexualizing of women and children The false holidays=Christmas Halloween eostre or easter These exact days are on a witches calender Even the days of the week are named after pagan gods Catholics changed sabbath to sunday Its always been saturday Saturday is named after sator, saturn or satan An ogre such like shrek comes from Og in the bible The sons of Og were giants who ate human flesh and had sex with human and animal Alike Alot of what disney has made cute and snuggly are actually evil demonic beings from antiquety The world went full pagan and God wanted to bring the people back because of his love for us because for him to not do this means youve been given up to your own devices and he would rather have mercy than sacrifice

Clear allusions to genitals in Ezekiel? Come on, that is extremely misleading! Looked up through all Ezekiel 1, nothing even remotely close, and in the verse she is referring to, Verse 27, the word translated Loins is mothen (H4975 - look it up), the middle part, the place where one would girdle himself. I expected more from this chanel, I really did... :(
@nicholaskarlsen1550

Lol. Just read it in context. What would be the point of Yahweh covering everything above and below his belt line, but leaving only his belt line exposed? It’s not just a ridiculous image, it’s also pointless. On the other hand if Yahweh is exposing his genital region, that’s also a ridiculous image (to modern people) but it does have a point: to show what a fertile creator god Yahweh was.
@emanuelpacurar1169
@emanuelpacurar1169 Жыл бұрын
@@nicholaskarlsen1550 With due respect, the text says nothing about covering. It describes the vision of the man as being surrounded by something shiny (like a substance resembling fire - a kind of metal or amber, the word is hard to translate), and goes on to describe the way the "fire" is localized, going from the waist up and from the waist down. That is why I believe the context is rather pointing to Yahweh being engulfed in fiery glory rather than the fact that He exposes his parts.
@emanuelpacurar1169
@emanuelpacurar1169 Жыл бұрын
All I am saying is that there are explanations that fit the verse better than reading pagan fertility imagery into it. I found misleading her alternative translation of the word "loins" (not supported by far, she calls is "straightforwardly"), and the eisegesis of the idea of covering everything except the loins. But I will read her book, maybe she goes more in depth there. I wonder what other evidences she presents there.
