Jephthah’s story teaches us that even if men writes you off, God can do mighty things through you. It also teaches us about the danger of rash promises, the power of faith, and the cost of true devotion. It’s a call to trust God’s wisdom, not impulsive vows. Let us be reminded to be mindful of what we say, honor commitments wisely and live with the confidence that God can redeem anyone no matter what your profile is. What lessons did you take from this?"

I must commend his integrity because not everyone will fulfill the vow giving that their child is involved. He was a man of honor regardless

Yes. And his daughter as well for not revolting. I admire their devotion.

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. When we pray to Him, avoid making hasty vow.

Many people believe that Jephthah sacrificed his daughter but it was not so. God hates human sacrifice. Remember how he warned the Israelites concerning passing their children through the fire like the heathen and how he didn't allow Abraham to equally do so,? Jephthah's daughter was given to God in service and not burnt as an offering. God detested such practices and still does. 🙏🏿

I share the same sentiments. Although in Judges 11:31 Jephthah’s vow stated “burnt offerings”, but the Bible did not categorically state what he did. But with emphasis on her chastity, I think the dedication meant she took no husband and had no children but was wholly dedicated to God.

Yup! God hates human sacrifice. Almighty God already knows what’s in our heart when we pray and never make any hasty vow.

We loosen up when we are promised greatness hence we don't even understand what we're saying. We often forget that God will only do what we ask Him to do for us.

Yes! More so, we need to be very mindful of our words and actions

Was he desperate for winning that war? All did the spirit lead him to say those words? For this story and Abrahams test to sacrifice Isaac are similar. What he did, he can do now and tomorrow.

The debate is still ongoing till date. At the time Israel was being attacked and they had no king. He was an outcast and wanted to prove himself by all means possible to get the acceptance of he was lacking. So like you said, it could possibly by desperation.
