I haven't mentioned it in previous comments but a great deal of your footage is very sentimental journeying for me. We lived in Hastings for four years 2002-6 and travelled to London on the train on numerous occasions. I also have some video footage at St Leonards Warrior Square and elsewhere in the area. Most importantly, however, our final train journey in England (Saturday 2 December 2006) was from Hastings to Charing Cross, first class, one way, bags packed, going home to Australia on what will almost certainly be our last major journey. Every Hastings to London shot puts me right back on that train, wherever it's shot...

I'm so glad that you are enjoying my work. Our last long haul flight was back from Sydney with a change in Dubai just over four years ago. Neither of us are keen to be in a plane for more than four hours ever again. I would love to visit Australia and Japan again but can't see it happening.

At 1.00, isn't that taking the Down slow Bickley loop, not the Up slow?

Absolutely. Must have gotten a bit over excited when writing that bit. I do proof read after I have finished writing but the odd thing slips through. A former Japanese colleague studied preconception in relation to the difficulty of checking your own work. It was fascinating.

Did the 1h12 to Robertsbridge divert via Swanley down through Otford to Sevenoaks?
@BoogiesTrains3 жыл бұрын
Sorry it's taken me a while to answer this. I had to look back at the source material. The Hastings service is subject to frequent diversions, the exact route taken depends on the location of the related line closure. In various videos I have captured diverted trains at East Croydon, Norwood Junction, Beckenham Junction, New Beckenham and Lewisham station. If the main line is blocked south of Chislehurst but north of Sevenoaks then the diversionary route is via Otford and Bat & Ball. Blockages north of Chislehurst but south of St Johns mean diversion via New Beckenham and Lewisham. I doubt that both ever occur on the same day. Blockages south of Sevenoaks but north of Tonbridge mean that the trains go via Redhill and Norwood Junction. Blockage south of Tonbridge is a bus replacement with passengers from Hastings advised to use the Southern service to Victoria. The fact that the highlighted train was only going to Robertsbridge suggests that the line was closed somewhere between Chislehurst and Sevenoaks and also south of Robertsbridge. Not a good day to be travelling.

Burning yard waste is prohibited in Mississauga, and Toronto, Ontario. There could be too many false calls to the Fire Department. Leaves have to be left in a pile along the curb of the street, or in paper yard waste bags over on this side of the pond. Aarre Peltomaa

Causes a lot of problems with neighbours round here. Rules exist about allowable times but are not enforced and consequently widely ignored.

What does the guy in the back cab do when not driving half of the time ? Is it the 'Life of Riley' ? Aarre Peltomaa

Southeastern longer distance services have a guard on board. Some of them patrol the train and help customers. Some hide in the back cab. The routine duties are control of the doors which can be done from the cab or various locations in the cars.
