This mileage issue is really not a big deal. USC, this year will have 3 road games this year between 850 and 2100 miles away. Oregon has 3 games between 800 and 1700 miles away plus another that is 530, Washington has 4 road games this year of 800-2300 miles away. Using your road trip miles USC is 9714, Oregon is 9030 and Washington is 11972,,,, NOW while still in the PAC 12. Even Utah is nearly 9000, these western teams HAVE to travel long distances every year. The bigger issue is the eastern teams now going west not the western teams going east. As Ohio St is only traveling 3850 miles round trip this year. And the travel home aspect is much worse for an Eastern team coming home from the west as you lose 3 hours, where USC going home gains 3 hours, so they could leave NJ at 5PM ET, travel for 8 hours and be home at 10PM, Rutgers going the other way and leaving at 5PM Pacific doesn't get home until 4AM and as for the "non-revenue" sports, no one is watching anyway so TV ratings will be minimal regardless of whether the OSU softball team plays USC or no, so frankly use to divisions to minimize the travel and be done with it in the non revenues..

During the BCS playoff era the SEC has won 15 national championships while the B1G or Ohio St has 2 and everyone knows the 2002 championship was given to Ohio St by the refs and the pitiful pass interference call at the end of the game. During that time 6 teams from the SEC has won a championship. Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Auburn. The SEC is by far the best conference and its not even close.

I like Mark Rogers, VOCF, approach with with 4 PODS. West (4), NW (5), Central (5) and East (4). This virtually maintains the Flex - Protect format that the BIG already agreed too. Play everyone in POD annually and then Flex every two years so that you virtually play every school home and home in a four year period. But, I defer to the BIG's judgement. Remember, just happy to be here. I'm excited about all the frequent flyer miles that I will accumulate.

The conference needs to go to small divisions like you find in the nfl. They’ll make their way to 20 teams, and probably eventually 24. If that’s the case, six teams in four divisions or four teams in six divisions can be used. If it’s four teams, they can rotate a division every year with one more conference game to be saved for a rival

I agree, stanford gives the west 5 teams to make a pod..and if the 4 pods rotate that makes big matchups alot..plus gives structure...then the 2 best from the 2 competing pods that year in the champ game.. then at 20 teams the big can sit forever...unless the sec breaks up the acc...then maybe 4 teams, north carolina, miami, houston, and smu...(mainly for recruiting footprint outside the rust belt) because texas and florida is prime recruiting...which would help the big alot in post season play vs the sec. in the pods you save alot of tradition..plus it doesn't get crazy like having osu play, mich, usc, oregon, penn state, wisconsin, washington, nc and miami in a row... like if they try to do the big game money grab patch work constantly... and everyone eventually plays everyone at least once every 3 years...and the pods bring about some sanity as far as travel..for everyone at 20 teams it would be 9 conference games a year, at 24 it would be 10 conference games a year you could throw a smu in a pod with usc, houston in a pod with wisconsin, nc in a pod with osu, and miami in a pod with penn state...a lil funnel to push talent up north...cause not every player will have fly the whole family nil type money...

No divisions. It's just an outdated and lazy idea in the modern era. Divisions were terrible at 14 teams with the West being terrible and OSU, UM, and PSU being stuck in a suicide pact. It'd be terrible with 18 or 20 teams too. There's nothing wrong with the flex scheduling model. It protects rivalries while also protecting the top teams from getting disproportionately hard schedules. The SEC goes out of its way to protect their teams scheduling wise. They can team up with the Big 12 to give them Pitt and maybe Syracuse or Louisville so that the votes are there to dissolve the conference. Get rid of Nebraska because they’re the weakest academically. Nebraska can go back to the Big 12. Then go after Stanford and Cal. This will corner Notre Dame to join the B1G. That’s give the conference 20 teams.

Nebraska isn’t going anywhere. They’ve been a target because of culture (maybe the only school ever) since I was a kid. They are as locked in as anyone, sorry.

Nebraska brings in the tv ratings. Just look at the last couple of years, they have a top 15 ranking. TV rankings will keep Nebraska where they are at because that’s what pays the bills. I’ve been saying this for over a year. FOX isn’t paying for academics, they are paying for an audience. The bigger the audience, the bigger their charge is for advertisement. The more money they make, more money the B1G makes.

West Coast teams getting screwed on the travel, but that will change with the addition of Oregon and Washington. The schedule will need to be re done. I still think the B1G need to add two more West Coast teams (Cal and Stanford) to balance things out more. FSU needs to go to the SEC.

It’s not like the east coast teams won’t be traveling west . Surely the west teams will play each other every year right ?

@@TroyHarperGoBucksGo Most of the teams are clustered one on side of the country. Therefor all of those teams will have less travel. The teams on the west coast will have to travel more because they have to play all of those other teams in the Midwest/east coast.

If the ACC’s GOR is broken, the first desired team is ND, that’s a given. Stanford looks to the team to pair up with ND. If ND still shows no desire to join the B1G, I think FSU and Clemson is B1G next option.

@@jimedick9496 I agree . Personally If possible I think the Big 10 should go after Florida state , Miami , UNC , Virginia , Stanford and offer ND the final spot . If they decline go after Cal or someone else with a strong program and AAU membership . Save the all the out of conference games for the bowl games .
