Another fun Easter egg that can be found: in 2x5, you see the front yard of Soo’s house, and you can see the tree that was lasered this episode still shows up as lasered/burnt.

One thing I find strange in this episode is how they got an Oregon driver's license wrong. The picture is on the wrong side for one thing as well as smaller details. It's actually much closer to a Washington driver license, which even has a pine tree at the bottom.

You're getting your times mixed up. We already know that the author of the journals mysteriously vanished 30 years ago, so he wasn't around to father Soos 22 years ago, or write postcards from New Orleans 10 years ago.

I do love this ep, but going by most reactions I've seen I guess I'm a bit odd. Because I remember thinking that I still kind of wanted him to meet his Dad. Even if just to tell him off and end things on his own terms. I'd feel differently if there was any indication his Dad was say violent or otherwise dangerous, but that's not the direction I felt they were going. (That said making it where he shows up at his 12th birthday would be a bad idea. Besides warping the timeline it might have just made it harder on Soos when he abandons him again, which he surely would have.)
