Hank’s new dog bed made by Big Barker is made with high-quality materials right here in the USA, is sleek and easy to wash but above all else, is so very comfortable for our little (big) guy! Weighing in at 90 pounds, Hank is a big dog and we never realized how much support he should have while sleeping on a dog bed. Once we found out about Big Barker, we were honestly quite surprised we had never really thought about it. In retrospect, a skunk incident that lead to us having to get rid of Hank’s old bed was the best thing that could have happened for our sleep-loving hound.
Probably the most notable thing you’ll see when looking at Big Barker dog beds is that they are big! They’re made for big dogs. We have the size large and it measures in at 48” x 30” x 7”. The 7” measurement is what keeps Hank supported. This 3-Stage construction (made with Big Barker’s proprietary blend of American made foam) is built and tested to ensure ultimate joint support. The layers consist of 2” of comfort foam, then 3” of high-density support foam, then topped with another 2” of comfort foam. Big Barker guarantees that this foam will not lose its shape for at least 10 years, and they stand behind their guarantee.
Once we traded in Hank’s old, flat, and hard bed for the Big Barker, we really couldn’t believe we had let him sleep on something so unsupportive and uncomfortable for so long. You’ll notice when you head over to Big Barker’s website that they make big beds for big dogs. Even the large (the smallest one available) feels big but Hank really loves having all of the extra room. Whether he’s curled up or sprawled out, he has plenty of room. Honestly one of my new goals in life is to have a house full of giant Big Barkers with dogs lounging all over the place.
We do understand that you will probably first look at the Big Barker and think “wait, $300 for a dog bed?!” Don’t worry, we did too but then we thought about it for a second. First of all, this will support Hank and help keep his joints healthy and that in it of itself seemed like a no-brainer. Secondly, he spends so so much time sleeping and lounging, why not let him be as comfortable as possible. And thirdly, Big Barker warranties their dog beds for 10 years. A dog bed that will keep its shape for 10 years? Yeah, no brainer.
We also thought that if we get Hank a dog bed that is actually comfortable and something he loves, maybe he will stay off the couch. It’s a long shot, but we are excited to give it a try. The fewer times we have to wash our couch covers, the better. Which brings up another good point. Washing the Big Barker is quick and easy and it cleans up really nicely. The zipper runs 75% of the way around the bed and so putting the cover back on the bed is a breeze.
Overall I’d say if there’s one way to explain how we feel about the Big Barker, it’s that we are embarrassed that we’ve been letting Hank lounge on an uncomfortable, unsupportive bed for the last 7 years of his life. It’s easy to tell (see photos) that Hank absolutely loves his Big Barker. Good review I was just going to order a Big Barker today, but I'm having a hard time deciding on the headrest. Hank did look like he enjoyed the headrest, and my dog does have a habit of leaning his head up against the legs to furniture when he sleeps. It looks to me like he'd get a stiff neck, but I guess he wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't comfy to him. I'm still thinking on it, but I'll probably go with the headrest in the end.

Hey i just wanted to say that Hank looks exactly like my fog Koda! Wish i could show you a picture of him! Hes a Vizsla Pit Bull mix we belive! We got him from a shelter as a puppy but he looks just like Hank!

I just purchased my dog a run of the mill bed, but now that i've seen this video I'm considering buying him a big barker instead. $300 is a lot but I buy him a $50 bed almost every year so I have probably spent more than what the big barker is worth already lol. 10 year warranty sounds nice !

I lovee our big barker. I have two large dogs and purchased the extra large and it’s so well worth it. I to have also curled up with my babies lol even though my lab prefers to sleep in my bed on my puffy mattress(spoiled).. I have also never had an issue cleaning this bed it vacuums and washes so well leaving no hair and dirt in my washer and dryer witch is a plus. Best dog bed I’ve ever bought.

Thank you for your review. If you're not giving him some already, check with your Veterinarian whether a joint supplement such as Dasuquin would be good for Hank. It will definitely help with the stiffness/lameness.

So just to address the price point....it is expensive. But this bed is by far the best bed we ever purchased for our dogs. We bought the large size 2.5 months ago and it has not flattened at all! We used to go thru bed after bed after bed. Some at $70-$100 per pop. They would flatten within a couple months and essentially be junk. We are almost 90 days in and it's as good as new. The best thing is you get a warranty and it's not supposed to have chemicals in the foam. I've never been so impressed by a foam mattress tbh. I keep mine covered with sheets and pee pads (dogs are on steroids which make than pee a lot) and anytime I get a spot on the cover (no we did not purchase the underneath waterproof liner) and it's never soaked past the cover and which I've spot cleaned several times and it's never soaked into the foam. Which is good but I can't honestly say how easy it is to clean the foam. Anyways, best $250 I ever spent on their comfort.

It is a lot of money but with a 10 year warranty and how well made it is I definitely feel like it's worth it. I'll be honest though, our mattress on our bed isn't even that expensive. But I probably care more about Hank than I do myself.

All my dogs have 3 beds , for the hot summer months I use a raised dog bed to keep them cool , for winter they each have purple beds , and when I am out they use a comfort soothing bed , I have heard great things about the barker bed but is hard to find in canada

@@AdventureRig thank you , I am a part of a animal rescue more cats and dogs so , yes I spoil my pups , cats , birds , ferret and so fourth , but I spend a little of my time rescuing cats , and dogs finding foster homes and getting them adopted . I go every weekend to homeless camps to bring food for their pets , . I just want to bring more love to those who cannot speak

It still looks brand new... not even exaggerating. Not only does the cover look good (we wash it when necessary), the foam bed has not worn in any areas.

Skunk is a tough one.... That smell is extremely difficult to get out of anything. I think this dog bed would absorb the smell like anything else. You can wash the cover but if it got into the foam I think you'd be screwed. Thankfully it has only been a one time incident.
