Alas Phil, you are still young and a perfectionist - shaping bushes and lopping branches are unnecessary luxuries at this hour. I'm in Washington State in the USA, west coast near Canada. When it gets past the first week of July it's always sunny, through until mid September. Well, not this year. We are still in August and have had two weeks of clouds and rain. It's still raining. Our summer is gone, my garden hasn't produced any ripe tomatoes and I'm in sweaters instead of t-shirts! I'm so sad about it because this will roll write into fall and winter. Take the party in doors and laugh at the rain!

No ripe tomatoes? That says alot right there. We've had a really dry summer in the Yukon, so I've been praying for rain.The temp close to 0℃ at night now, I could see my breath on a walk at 8:30 pm... the leaves are turning 🍂

Even though it cleared up and party went as planned it's always good to have another day planned for a rain-date for any event so that gives a few days in case it does rain out. Sure Lightning's appreciates the charity getting funds and the MND one too. Everything always has a way of working out :)

@@colleenlongardner2692I believe that was from where the tree was down for such a long time. It killed the grass beneath and with the poor weather it delayed his ability to get it up sooner. The grass will come back, it just didn’t have enough time to yet. At least that’s what I think. 🤷‍♀️

The best party I ever went to was one where the hosts parents telephoned from the airport to say they were coming home as their flight had been cancelled and the host had every guest washing and cleaning up (he didnt have permission to have a party), Everyone had the best time covering up all signs of a party and leaving before the Mum and dad made it back. Give every guest a task and you will have so much fun

Sad about the rain but on a VERY POSITIVE NOTE your garden in now in really good shape and if you continue with your efforts to clear all the unwanted plants and equipment it will become a super LOW MAINTENCE garden/terrace enabling you to do lots of fun things that you enjoy, so all is not lost. Keeping all bushes, trees just to the perimeter is also a super idea for swift mowing of large grassed areas - well done.

Oh my goodness Phil, this preparation is going well! You move these bushes as if pushed by lightning (ha ha, where is He?). The little bush that you took out near your wooden bridge, and the stone foundations of the old bridge, explains indeed very well the necessary upkeep of the borders! I just remembered last year, wasn't it the same "not so nice" weather? and the previous year and so on...? but hey, once it gets dark, since it's not raining, it doesn't matter; ))
