This is where I was getting frustrated in my church, I was becoming an outsider looking in. I love the people at my church, the pastors just weren't teaching the gospel or the bible, just cherry picking for ted talks. I agreed that people were getting saved and coming to Jesus, 100% support everyone who finds their way. I was seeing as I dove more into the bible and theology I was seeing what Keith is talking about. I started looking at what the Catholics and church fathers are talking about and I see the difference in stark, but also in humbleness. I start RCIA this September. Looking forward to going deeper into this and have been loving going to Catholic Mass. So much beauty and history that most churches are missing and some don't want. Much love fam!

“IF” you have not already, please consider going to Adoration of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament (also known as “Holy Hour”). Call your local parish and find out when they offer it. Then, just go and sit in silence in Christ’s Presence. Take your bible. Read scripture, pray, contemplate. Tell the Lord of your search for truth, of your doubts, worries, even fears. Then, be as patient with Him as He has been with you. When you receive the grace to know that HE IS THERE, you will be forever changed. Miracles occur in Christ’s presence - of that I can personally attest.

Born and raised Protestant. I left at young adulthood because I was tired of being bludgeoned over the head with "Jesus is coming!!!" I was taught a fear-based brand of Christianity...get right or burn in hell, then I was taught prosperity doctrine. Okay...how does that help me be a better Christian, father, brother, uncle, husband??? I left church altogether for 30 years. My wife, before I met her, attended the United Pentecostal church...what a disaster that was for her. She too left church for 30 years. Then at age 50, I felt a tug at my heart to stop in at that big Catholic church I drove by every day on my way to work. The next Sunday morning, my wife and I attended our first mass, not having a clue about any of it. That was June of 2017...we haven't looked back and thank God every day for bringing us home to His church. And by the way, my wife had the same tug at the same time, independent of me. Neither of us knew a single Catholic, let alone having ever set foot into a Catholic church. Best decision we have ever made.

Do you believe everything God said in Scripture is true or do you believe the doctrine of the Roman Catholic church? God said through Paul, "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 1 Timothy 2:5-7 Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." These two verses tell us of the exclusivity of Jesus Christ. He is the only name by which we must be saved. He is the only way to the Father and He is the only Mediator. Roman Catholicism teaches Mary is also a mediator and co-redeemer and that she was sinless and remained a virgin. Everything the Roman Catholic church teaches here about Mary is a lie. So who would you say is lying? God or Roman Catholic doctrine? They can't both be right. God cannot make mistakes and God cannot lie so what do you believe? God's word or RC doctrine?

And even if that were the case, it is still a performative contradiction just given basic biblical history! Are you so propagandized and indoctrinated by Catholicism that this is actually a problem? If the Holy Spirit is within us, whether one or many, are you claiming God cannot reveal truth because there isn’t popular consent? Are you also claiming that popular consent always leads to correct interpretations? Man, I guess I was wrong about Torquemada and the inquisitions. He must have been right when he was burning women and teenagers for denying papal authority! Or perhaps we should assume the ministries of Isaiah and Jeremiah are worthless due to being contrarians to the popular consensus of the Sanhedrin because they did not consult their interpretations and authority? Or perhaps we should be careful to follow Jesus who dissented against the popular opinion and interpretations of the religious elite!? Spot on, this is why I am on my way to the Catholic Church. For the longest time I have been bothered by the seemingly endless divisions in Protestantism, and have thought about how we can be united and even have a restored christendom. Then I saw the the endless divisions was built into the very nature of Protestantism, because of sola scriptura. Oddly enough, while Luther and Calvin rejected any ecclesiastical authority being over them and their interpretations of scripture, they fully expected to themselves be seen as authoritative, having dissenter punished for questioning their interpretations. Do as I say not as I do. They knew that if Biblical interpretations were up to every individual then chaos would be the result, so they tried to have unity by using magisterial power. It had limited success and ultimately failed breaking down into the modern individualism we see as the hallmark of American evangelism.

The Bible itself tells us that there is much more to know than is contained within it. Christ left the world a Church, not a book, and it was the Church that gave the world the Bible, in 397 A.D.. The doctrine of Sola Scriptura did not even exist prior to the 14th century, when it was introduced by Protestant forerunner, John Wyckliffe. John 21:25. There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.

Also, Luther was attempting to reform Rome before his excommunication. Later, in the 16th century Trent corrected many abuses that Luther pointed out. To this day people who actually hold to the Book of Concord are still catholic, yet excommunicated by Trent. God speed to all

Having been raised Protestant, the constant finger pointing of one Protestant group at another is why I, for a long time, left the church. Still believed in God but not the fractured churches to which I was exposed. There had, since my childhood, been a malevolent spiritual presence always hovering around. After getting married this spirit began to attack my wife as well. It was all connected to a Ouija board I had been given as a child. That is when I sought out spiritual help. It was in the Anglican Catholic Church that we began to receive the help we so desperately needed. After that denomination divided, as many Protestant groups do, my Christian journey led me and my family to Eastern Orthodoxy where we have been for 21 years. Much to the chagrin of my mother who once angrily asked "how could you get involved in a church like that, we always raised you to be Protestant." I just found your channel and am enjoying it. Keep up the good work.

As a convert 28 years ago from the Protestant sects, I agree with you 100%. Protestantism is not one group but hundreds to thousands of different sects all teaching Jesus is Lord but then disagreeing with everything else. I noticed it at college where I attended a Baptist University. I saw the different beliefs within the Baptist sects that I attended. I am just glad God opened up my eyes to see the Scriptures clearly and understand them better as well as history of the faith which brought me into the Catholic Church

This is all true. But you have to know better than most that this isn't even on their radar. When you don't have a Universal Magisterium you just think that's the way it's always been. Every Protestant thinks Catholicism is just another denomination when in fact it's a completely different way of thinking that is foreign to their entire view. Protestants don't understand how it requires a brand new way of thinking that even requires new language that they don't have, like Magisterium or Canon Law. It's easy for a Catholic to understand Protestants but it's near impossible for Protestants to understand Catholics because they have never experienced Catholic Culture. We need a way to help them bridge that gap so that they can relate.

Former protestant of over 50 years, now Catholic here. Yes that's exactly right. All that training and constant learning as a protestant, yet at best peripherally aware of essential Catholic practice, but mostly unable to perceive it because as you say, 'it isn't even on their radar'. It is a complete paradigm shift of thinking and deeply challenging to ingrained learning. The nature of people to to hold fast to what is known and 'safe' in their practice. Bridging it is a miracle of God as human nature holds fast to personal religious routine, the church community and family practice & influence.

I can attest to this as well. We are either another Christian denomination, not Christian at all, or they’ve never given us a thought in their life. I don’t need a church, I don’t need to go to church, I’ve got my relationship with Jesus and that’s all that matters… least that’s what I thought till I found the fullness of the faith 3 years ago 🙏🏻 Glory to Jesus Christ!

I noticed a similar problem with the Pentecostals who don't regard each other as true Pentecostals. Each group has their own definition of what a Pentecostal Christian is. They all want everyone to leave the Catholic church but cannot know what denomination to enter into. The Pentecostals are against the Catholic church, each other, and all unbelievers, making the Pentecostal god a puny god of non definitional divine revelation.

Just as an FYI, in the protestant community we get a lot of side eye from the other denominations also because according to them our beliefs and traditions are too close for comfort to Catholicism 😂. With that being said, I would suggest you investigate exactly what the conservative Lutheran churches like Missouri and Wisconsin teach about Sola Scriptura, and do so through the lens of knowledge that we also have many traditions in our church. I think you'll find it interesting. Not trying to convert; merely educate. Jordan B. Cooper is an excellent source of Lutheran apologetics and I would recommend watching his videos to learn about confessions and beliefs from the true Lutheran perspective. God bless, my friend.

I heard so much of the Prot tripe against the Catholics for so long that at some point along my path I felt like I had to deny my Catholicity in order to “be” a Christian. At first that felt like a moment of freedom but, that evolved into an expectation more than any kind of reality. I went through many years of church “shopping’ and doctrine chasing and dogma stigma and endless study to only learned that no one out there in the field where our Prot Brothers and Sisters live really knows what they are doing. They are as a group more confused than those people who initiated the movement (like bowels) that they all identify under. One day it occurred to me that the only thing they all seem to agree on is that the Catholic Church is bad. The one force behind that reformation which has clearly never reformed anything is that Catholic hating syndrome. Then one day I started to see that most of them do not really know why they hate it beyond some parroted buzz lines from people like John MacArthur and some other faces hiding behind pulpits. In July of 2023 I had to start a prayer vigil and “discover” what I had to know was out there. I prayed a lot and I hoped a lot more that the truth would lead me to somewhere peaceful, like a place where I would know peace and love are the only things that matter. I prayed for my wife to find us a church I could go to and be at peace in because I want her to be comfortable. Shortly after that began to see that she was taking an interest in a new church in our home town. She started attending a bible study and showing a very real enthusiasm for this place she had found. I was done shopping. I was just praying for a Christian land I could hang my hat and call “home”. Around September of 2023 she invited me to go to her church service with her so I went with her. i even had her drive so I could not back out of it. I wanted this to be the cul-de-sac. I wanted to be going to a new “home”. I got there with her and instantly smelled the “mega-church” spirit. I became swamped in a tempest of dread. It was the same old “new prayer partner” and “new best friend” environment where the only thing short of jail is that they did not clamp me up in a pair of handcuffs. Every handshake was as if to say I was in desperate need of whatever they were selling. And, who ever it was that thought to a cost new people with a Niagara Falls kind of welcome is the way to reach people… …well, damm you. I am not a prize to be conquered. I am me and me is who I will continue to be; there is a LOT of prayer behind “me” and a Lot Of Jesus Behind That Prayer. I don’t go where I go lightly, I am there and that is good if I choose it to be so. These people were like railroad ties falling on me. After some time I did learn to kind of think I might like some of them and actually developed a happiness to see them. The 3 hour services were a bit much and I don’t sing so the 14 song intros were a little much and the songs were like elementary school stuff but some of the people there who could sing like angels sort of made that work a bit. The thing is, they were all very, very, very. - did I say “very” - Baptist. Everything is a symbol to them. Nothing is a delivery of the Holy Spirit, but, they do it “all” anyway. I say and believe, if it’s a symbol then the hell with it. What good is a communion wafer if it’s nothing? What use is grape juice? Why “baptize” if it’s symbol size? That’s how I see it. The truth is, I can deal with different belief structures but, the pulpit is no place for that in reference to other Christians. When the Grand Wizard banged on Catholic theology from the pulpit I felt a rage boil up inside. Jesus started that Church. Those words from Matthew hummed through my head like a chainsaw every time that guy bashed on that part of Christianity. Then came the coup de gras, the teaching that Catholics needed to become “Christian”, and it came in the form of if they are not like us they are not Christian… …I have never seen any credibility in those kinds of denegrations. I became Christian as a Catholic… …the John MacArthuresque BS has no place in my ears. Then it dawned on me, I was, in my head defending Catholicism. I needed to get my eyes, ears and mind back into where my heart clearly was. I went back in the Easter Season of 2024 after much study that was much easier now in the age of technology than it was in 1988 while married to an SDA woman who bored into my head the woes of Catholicism the first time. I spent a year studying from library books and learned the true history of our Church, but that ended very, very badly. She was relentless in her hate of us so it all came crashing down. In 2023 and 2024 all that information is at our fingertips. I was able to refresh in merely weeks what took me a year to learn in 1988. Thanks be to God I am Catholic and I am alone - again - in my faith, but at least I am in the Church Christ first called, “My Church”. Peace is not with me, the spiritual assaults are quite wicked, but, I know truth is on my side and I am staying here and I will not sway again. Praise to Jesus Christ. ❤🙏🏼

From the opening session of the First Vatican Council: Everybody knows that those heresies, condemned by the fathers of Trent, which rejected the divine magisterium of the church and allowed religious questions to be a matter for the judgment of each individual, have gradually collapsed into a multiplicity of sects, either at variance or in agreement with one another; and by this means a good many people have had all faith in Christ destroyed. Indeed even the holy Bible itself, which they at one time claimed to be the sole source and judge of the Christian faith, is no longer held to be divine, but they begin to assimilate it to the inventions of myth. How more true is that today than it was 1868?

And then, I discovered a simple truth - having faith includes having faith in The Church. It all flows from there!!

The Bible does not say that the bible is the pillar and bulwark of the truth. The Bible says the Church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth 1 Timothy 3:15 15 if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth. Many of our Protestant brothers & sisters claim that only the Bible is the source of authority for Christians (Sola scripture). However, the Bible does not support this claim. Rather, the Bible states that the Church is the source of authority. In 1 Timothy 3:15 (as seen above), St. Paul points out that the Church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth. Therefore, if the Church (which was founded by Christ and is His bride) is the support and bulwark of the truth, then it can be found in the world. God does not leave us in confusion, but He guides us and unites us under this institution- this "household of God."

@@carolmonroe6489 You're absolutely wrong and had no clue of what Catholicism is.

@@uglyducklingako4989 few things. 1. The Bible wasn't compiled yet as we currently know it, so obviously it's not going to say it's a pillar. But John says that the Word was God and then the Word became flesh meaning Jesus. So what is scripture? It's God's Word. So by "Sola Scriptura" you mean turning to God and to hear what He has to say. Now man is fallen and people corrupt things. The catholic church is a great example. But if we wanted to use the church tradition idea, the catholics only came about in the 300s and did so with lots of pagan compromise. There are older churches with older traditions. But even then, it's unnecessary when we have the letters of the first century church and we can read their thoughts, sufferings, and patterns (Sola Scriptura again I guess). Either way, Bible literacy is the fix to the problem of division rather than the introduction of unbiblical traditions and idolatry. Our eyes need to be on Jesus and following Him. Following His Words and His example, not that of human origin.

I was raised Southern Baptist. When I was a kid I asked why are there so many denominations. I was told the Bible is like a diamond. Depending on how you look at it different people can see different colors from the same diamond. They said the Bible is the same way, two different people can read the same Bible and have two different interpretations. So I asked how do I know if I have the right interpretation and they said you have to have faith. And that’s how we have so many different interpretations of the Bible and so many denominations. People want to read the Bible and interpret it as they see fit. They don’t understand that the devil is whispering lies in their ear just as he tried to do with Jesus

Personal interpretation with its many “truths” is the cause of the scourge of modern relativism, thanks Deformers!

Hi Keith, I heard from another famous writer and family man who became a Catholic, that the final fact for him was while on this journey of clarification and decision making, he asked himself the question... Who has the authority to interpret Scripture... all these baptists and protestants are fragment churches, so how do they interpret it?... and the answer that JESUS CHRIST His DISCIPLES the authority to go out and preach... was what he was looking for as the final conviction to join the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I really appreciated this. Thank you. I love you as you are.... being bold suits me, I love the TRUTH! God bless!
