Best time to target big catfish is the winter.

In this fishing video I took some frozen cut bait, mostly carps and mullets, and tossed them into the river. It was a winter fishing day but I was able to pull in 2 nice sized catfish. Catfishing in the winter can be tough but nice size catfish are often active.

What rod you using

I use a few different rods. I mostly stick with a Shakespeare brand. They are cheap but very durable and come standard with a 7 year warranty. In my opinion the reels are more important than the rods.

@@palma1009make sure you use the flex in the rod. The flex can help act like a slingshot. The heavier your line and the stiffer the rod, the harder it will be. Generally the longer the rod the further you can cast as well.

@@BitesandStrikesFishing what rod you recommend me for my penn feirce 4 8000 live liner i have one thats says extra heavy its 6ft, called penn mariner 3 so it dont have that much flex its really stiff.

@@palma1009 I generally stick with Shakespeare Ugly Stik brand. They are cheap and durable and have a 7 year warranty. If you’re using it for mainly catfish I would look for a 7’ medium with medium action tip. Something like the big water. Really don’t need anything more than that. amzn.to/41zOfok
