I've been a fly fisherman for 45 years. I used to loose fish by standing on the line, or physically trying to let the line run through your hands against rod. But once I immediately put the fish on the reel I rarely lost a fish.

Well done! Do you find rainbows fight a lot harder than Browns? Here in W. North America, generally speaking Browns are like landing a log compared to the Bow's. Especially the Kamloops strain rainbow. Awesome fish.

The flies in the fishes mouths at the start were different and not the cat with a black wing

Nice fish mate! To be honest, I've never understood why some fisherman pull the fish in instead of reeling it in. All that line lying about the ground is an accident waiting to happen. Fly reels have adjustable drag for a reason.

you "strip" it in when it's a big fish to keep tension on the line bc the reel is a 1:1 gear ratio so the fish would easily get off

+the man the myth the legend Can't agree with you there. From 7:00 mins onwards there is ample opportunity to reel in the slack line and get the fish on the reel. Leaving loops of line around your feet is not good practice in my opinion.

i really don't consider fishing in a hatchery proper fishing anyone can catch fish in those waters. You should try fishing where there are wild fish and see how many you will catch!

big ron on every fly fishing vid there is someone stating that rivers or reservoirs are the only legit place to fly fish....using light gear to catch 6oz fish is not to everyone's liking bud. There is no denying that it's harder to catch natural fish but it comes across as a bit elitist suggesting someone has no skill unless they fish rivers

Peter rob I have caught wild fish mate....plenty actually....sea, coarse and fly....don’t assume you know my experience from a KZbin comment. Stocked fish see a lot of flies from day to day and are not as easily fooled as a half staved brownie which sees a fly drift by and has to make its mind up within a second to eat it.....my original comment still stands....let people fish how they please it gets tiresome seeing elitist douchebag comments from j r Hartley types who feel they are upholding the ancient code of the society of fly fishermen by “only” fishing rivers and feeling the need to let other people know about it in the KZbin comments section
