I hope you two realize what a joy you are to those of us who get the privilege of watching your videos. I also hope you realize what a wonderful life you have there in the holler away from the fast paced life of the city. Each time I watch your videos and listen to you talk I have to confess being envious of your lifestyle. That is the lifestyle my parents and grandparents lived when I was growing up. What a wonderful life it was! Oh, that I could go back to those days and enjoy them again! 😊

A humorous anecdote as told by Ronald Reagan , seems appropriate with your lower garden next to a creek , removing rocks and all , hope you enjoy it 🙂 "There was an old Kansas farmer there. He had a piece of creek bottom land that had never been developed at all -- it was all rocks and brush and all messed up. And he started in on it, clearing it -- the underbrush, and hauling away the rocks, then cultivating the soil there. And he planted a garden -- everything from vegetables on to corn, and it really became a garden spot. And he was pretty proud of what he'd done. So, one Sunday morning in church after the service he asked the preacher if he wouldn't stop by to have a look. Well, the preacher arrived. And he took one look and he said, ``Oh, this is wonderful.'' He said, ``These are the biggest tomatoes I've ever seen. Praise the Lord.'' And he said, "Those green beans, that squash, those melons.'' He said, ``The Lord really has blessed this place. And look at the height of that corn.'' He said, "God has really been good.'' And the old boy was listening to all this, and he was getting more and more fidgety and finally he blurted out, ``Reverend, I wish you could have seen it when the Lord was doing it by himself.'' 😄

Tipper, I have a question for you, if you see this would you plz respond? It’s about your hat you always wear when you’re working, I was wondering if it’s UPF 50 to prevent sunburn? I ask because, I just got through a scalp skin cancer and need to wear a hat with UPF50 to, hopefully prevent another skin cancer. Could you tell me more about your hat and where you got it? Btw, Matt’s surprise for all his girls is so thoughtful and kind, why can’t this world be full of more Matt’s. You all are very fortunate to have one another. Such a beautiful family y’all are. ❤

You could always plant your “ putting by “ corn at once so canning or freezing can all be done, but save a little space to plant a few hills at staggered times to have enough “eating corn” all summer

My father used to use a chalk line to plant every seed he ever planted. He would also cut a stick pre-measured by him. For pole beans, it was 4 inches , for corn, it was 6 inches, for potatoes, it was 10 inches. You drop the stick then plant the seed. I thought he was being overly meticulous until once everything came up and got to looking lush, and then we would have people driving by our house so slowly to admire the perfection of our garden. And when Dad saw weeds in the garden, he would tell all of us kids, "I gotta hoe that will fit your hand just right!" And he would give us each a hoe of various sizes which did fit our hands "just right"! LOL!!!

My Daddy, back several years before he passed , was in his garden putting in some T-posts, when he lifted the post slammer a bit too high, and when he came down with it, it ricocheted off the end of the pole & hit him it the top of his li’l bald noggin! I told him he needed to go get it stitched up, as I could see his skull. He said, “ awww…you women always exaggerate!” I took him to the ER & it took 13 stitches to close it up! I said, “ Look Daddy, I guess the Dr. is exaggerating too! lol.

Subscribed today! Been watching since a little before Corie and Austin got married. Didn't realize it was so easy but here I am. My wife and I love your channel. The life, the music....it all brings us joy to see. We also have twin daughters. They live in my deceased parents home within walking distance of our house on land my parents gave us. We're both close to retirement and plan to do gardening. Used to have a few cows but got rid of them about 4 years ago. Want to grow our own vegetables. Y'all have prompted us to a simpler life. Tipper, your "I Am From" segment inspired me write my own story. It shined a light on how richly God has blessed me and led us in life. Matt, we had a Kubota L3302 delivered Saturday and I've already moved a bunch of dirt! The 45 year old Massey Ferguson finally gave up the ghost. Thank you'll for bringing us into a saner life. God bless you! P.S. Thank you for introducing us to Outshine.

I hope your corn does better than ours did! It was so tall; about four and a half feet. It was very green, and the stalks thick and straight. We had a severe thunderstorm with 80 mph winds. It flattened every row, snapping most of the corn at it's base. As my husband said,"The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"

Wow, that is a big garden. My Dad would have loved having a garden like that. When I was a kid and we lived in the country he had a big garden, but years later they moved closer into town because it was easier on them for getting to and from doctors and stores, but even then my Dad had a small garden in their back yard. He loved working in his garden and my Mom liked freezing a lot of the things that Dad grew. I'm sure they probably saved our family money by doing what they loved doing. Love watching your videos; they often remind me of things my family did.

Good job! Y’all are a great team! Reminded me of my child hood in the garden… Saturday morning it was all hands on deck ( 5 of us kids) and a lot of evenings after daddy got home from his day job ( auto body repairman) we’d be in the garden … hoeing, pulling grass and weeds, sometimes watering, and then a lot of picking and hauling it back to the back porch . Fresh garden vegetables for supper every evening, tomato sandwiches whenever we wanted, cucumber salad on the side of our barbecue meat ( daddy love to bbq) Good times! Good times! Sitting on the front porch shucking corn and kinfolk and neighbor women helping my mama and she /we’d help them at harvest. It was a joyous event in the community… sweet iced tea and bare feet ! cutting up and just having a good time with it! Canning a whole lot of it and sharing with the elderly and needy . We were so blessed! Those were the days ! Thanks for sharing this and bringing back the memories! ❤️🙏

Miss Tipper, I find my garden tools at the thrift stores - the GOOD old stuff, and sometimes the REALLY good OLDER stuff. I hear they can be had at garage sales, too, but I don't get out that much. I clean up the rust (if I'm willing) and give wood parts a coat of whatever is handiest (walrus oil or deck treatment-type stuff). The really good, old wood can look pretty pathetic, but feels stronger than the newer lightweight wood of recent years. When did this start to change, anyhow? The '80s? Thanks for another great video - nothing like enjoying a popsicle while sitting in a tractor bucket. Have a beautiful day and God bless!

A tip from us we used a 1” pvc pipe cut 4’ with slant cut on end place the slanted side in ground and drop your seed down. Saves a lot of backache. We done all our seed like this fast easy😊

We don't have room for corn, but we buy sweet corn to put in the freezer and last year we found an easy way to process our corn we husk, wash and then cut off cob put into a large electric roaster add water if needed and cook for ten minutes let cool and put in freezer bags, much easier than boiling and and blanching in cold water,, less mess turns out great

When I saw the title of the video I said out loud " Oh yay they got the corn field planted!" LOL! I loved hearing about how people visited each other and talked about their garden/field and catch up. My parents would visit with people (mostly family but closer friends too) and we'd have people stop by and visit with us when I was growing up, not so much garden talk as just catching up in general. People just don't do that anymore. I wish we could get back to more of that, on Saturdays ( grew up hearing that pronounced: "Say-r-dy" or "Sur-dy")! And sounds like y'all do need a picnic table out there; just add the picnic table idea to the list of projects : )

I LOVE Silver Queen corn. We used to go to the Eastern Shore many times during the summer and there are fields of corn for days….We’d always stop and get a few dozen ears. It’s the best. I could eat it every day…looks like you might be too. ❤ Happy Mother’s Day to you all.
