I passed my CCNA R&S exam a few weeks ago. I used CBT Nuggets as main studies and a CCNA Study Guide. Jeremy is awesome and very knowledgeable. His lessons were super clear and he made real world reference throughout the course which made it much more relevant. I am currently going through the CCNP R&S series taught by Jeremy.

I never write comments but when you told your story about finishing school and going to work for pizza hut I had to say something, I am in the exact same position. I finished my degree in biochemistry and never want to see the inside of a laboratory as long as I live, so now I work as a delivery driver at pizza hut while I watch your videos and work on my CCNA. Thank you so much for sharing that story it really made me feel better about myself and that I am not alone in my position in life, thank you.

What OS is better for learning to Cisco exams? Windows or I need only Wireshark, CiscoPackeTracer and GNS3 and I can use Kubuntu?
@GurukiranS8 жыл бұрын
You need Windows to run Cisco Packet Tracer and GNS3(These are simulation programs). For basic configuration you can use Packet tracer, if you are up for a challenge as a beginner you can start using GNS3. And about wireshark- it is a packet capturing software which captures all the traffic on your LAN adapter. You might wanna take a close look at the captures. ARP, DNS, DHCP, TCP, IP captures which will really help you. Hope that clears your doubt.

I have been contemplating dropping out of college. I am learning absolutely nothing except basic HTML and conversions in my computer information technology class. I took Cisco for two years in high school, and routing and switching has been apart of my life since I was ten. I think that I am going to drop out regardless to save money, my sanity, and to pursue my dreams. I am asking for am honesty opinion. What do you think I should do? How do I go about getting my first positron after being certified with no experience? I will probably email this to you as well. I subscribed immediately after I watched this video, and I want to be a part of whatever services you offer.

if I've never really done any IT stuff aside from excel/word/etc, whats the best first certification I should obtain if I want to eventually be cisco certified? My step dad makes 500k being a network security engineer... I am 30 thanks
@danieltene20486 жыл бұрын
500k? is this for real?
@artyomarty3916 жыл бұрын
yeah. He worked at target for like 10 years getting min wage. Then got into this field after getting his bachelors and some certificates (degree was paid by the navy where he served). When he left target he started getting about a 6 digit salary and when he was 50+ it started being half a mil( he's now 60 or something). He is a contractor for the government with a team and he is the head of the team along with some other guy who makes even more. So he has a clearance. He does some stuff for airport security, not sure what exactly. I think he may have had some CISCO certifications a while ago but nothing big. Its mostly just experience for him, he is very clever and a hands-on guy, but not in any way intelligent. I would say he's more like just an expert electrician. Doesnt really know much about computers except the basics. I think he gets paid so much because he has his team and the government trusts him due to all the experience when I asked him how can I make as much money as you, he handed me an old book about switches/routers/etc one thing to note is his salary drastically increased when he became the head of the team. The people who work for him make like 70-150k as I understand. I cant say for sure but i think he started this field after he was 35
@danieltene20486 жыл бұрын
From what you said he sounds pretty clever, especially if he started after 35 when most people don t even think about starting new careers or so. I also think he read the right book that got him the success. Could you tell me the name and the author of the book? I am a starter in the field and it would be really useful. Regarding your question i found a very useful KZbin channel about how to start in Network engineering. This is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHjYhICrnpiinrM This guy is a college dropout and in very short amount of time he started making more than 100k, i am his subscriber.
@artyomarty3916 жыл бұрын
i dont talk with him very much and see him maybe once a year so cant tell you the name of the book. But it was a very complicated book. It was essentially same thing as cisco's routing and switches, but it was just explained at an alot more technically difficult level and it assumed the person reading it already has a basic understanding.

My ccna will expire this month. I am looking into getting the ccna security but will take about 3 to 4 months of study before taking it. If I take and pass ccna security after my ccna expires, will my ccna get renewed? Or since the ccna is required for the ccna security certification, will I have to re-take the ccna even after I pass the ccna security test to receive the ccna security certification?
@NotAMystery8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, if your CCNA expires this month, that would mean your ICND1 also expires, making you ineligible to take the CCNA Security. You will have to take the ICND1 first and then CCNA Security.

I took the CCNA Security exam today and failed. Now my old CCNA will expire before I am allowed to attempt a retake. In my understanding, I can take the ICND1 and then take CCNA Security. Is that correct?
@NotAMystery8 жыл бұрын
1. Candidates who fail an Associate, Professional, or Specialist exam must wait a period of five (5) calendar days, beginning the day after the failed attempt, before they may retest for the same exam. - www.cisco.com/c/en/us/training-events/training-certifications/exams/policies.html#retaking_exams 2. Yes, ICND1 and then CCNA Security.
