As long as one ends up with a presentable product for someone, mystery quilts will teach you a lot and add to your understanding of how other quilts are constructed. Learning something is never a bad thing.

Kris, I'm like you in that I like more contrast in my quilts. All those browns didn't really seem to have much between each one and so the quilt ended up kind of blasé. It's a lovely quilt but I think it could be much lovelier with more contrast. So you go, girl!🥰

HI Kris. I'm doing my first PMQ with Cotton Cuts, it's the Tree of Life in the purple mist colorway. I didn't read the fine print on the colorway because the fabrics are batiks which I've ever worked with before. I'm learning a lot and striving to get the seams just right. Thanks for sharing your Carnival quilt. ~~ Lynne

My pleasure! Happy to help! Oh, nice! Some people really love batiks! It's great that you can use either side. It is a beautiful colorway. Happy Quilting!

I haven't received my Clue #10 package yet, but I'll watch this video again when I get ready to complete my quilt, and that's okay because my machine is being serviced right now. A couple of thoughts: I love the colors on your quilt - mine are completely different, so I'll be anxious to see how it turns out (I used "Sky Diver"). Of course I loved your scrappy version too. I have signed up for the Tree of LIfe and I'll complete that, but I'm not going to go for the next one - I find that mystery quilts are not really my thing either. Cotton Cuts is great, though. My only complaint through this whole process, is I'm not in love with some of their pressing instructions, but like you, I've just trusted the process. I've enjoyed every one of your videos, they all have been a really big help!

I am in the process of getting mine started, I'm way behind on it. I picked the Cotton Candy colorway, I like the fabrics but originally I wanted the tula pink fabric which Ian had. I noticed that my colorway wasn't in the big reveal but excited to see how it goes. This is my first mystery quilt so we'll see. I do have two other BOM'S to complete from other companies and will be starting a new one this month. Yes your colorway isn't something I would have liked but you did make the scrappy one that turned out nice.❤

I'm working on mine. I've discovered some blocks that I had to unpick and turn the hst around because evidently I wasn't paying enough attention. I did candy apple and it's lovely but I'm still having some issues so there is more unpicking but I love how it is looking. My d pieces were longer and the top and bottom were about a 3/4 " to short too. I love doing the mystery quilts but I have a couple I did in the past that I'm not real fond of. It's all about the right fabric choices for the mystery quilts. It's amazing how different fabrics look in the same pattern. Love how your's have turned out. Thanks for sharing.
@SewtheDistance6 ай бұрын
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching! Oh wow! I can see how that can happen with the HSTs. It can get confusing for sure. I am so sorry some of your pieces are wrong. That stinks! I hope it all has worked out.

So pleased that you liked at least one of the quilts - I'm guessing that it's partly because the scrappy one came from your own stash and you had more control over the overall feel. I could almost feel your anxiety coming through the screen - I'd have been exactly the same with a mystery quilt, having been caught badly by mystery shawl knits before that I ended up hating!

YES! I just mentioned that to another creator--I could also feel the anxiety in the video. Never again! 😆 I really didn't like the process at all, but the company is great.
