This project is so much fun! I will show you how to make this reusable holiday gift bag using only four fat quarters.

Here are the supplies needed for this cute reusable gift bag:
Four Fat Quarters
From Fat Quarter 1:
Appliqué: (1) *8.5" x 9.5" *depends on the template you are using
From Fat Quarter 2:
Side Strips of Front: (2) 1.5" x 10"
Top of Front: (1) 4" x 10.5"
Botton of Front: (1) 2.5" x 10.5"
From Fat Quarter 3:
Backing: (1) 10.5" x 15.5"
From Fat Quarter 4:
Lining: (2) 10.5" x 15.5"
Other supplies:
Neutral Background Fabric: Appliqué Background: 8.5" x 10"
Fusible Fleece or Batting: (2) 10.5" x 15.5"
Ribbon (Optional): (1) 30" Long
Interfacing for Background of Appliqué: 8.5" x 10"
Fusible Rion On Adhesive: Size of Appliqué

When bias tape ravels as it did in this video, my solution is to trim it, fold in under once the a second time on the skinny end and either top stitch, hand stitch or glue the folded area in place. It might be worth a try. Darling project, thanks for tutorial.

I used freezer paper for stabilizer when I sold decorated T-shirts, it works well for appliqué. Enjoyed this great video, maybe I need to get busy and make some gift bags! 👍😃💖

Use No Fray on the ends of the bias tape you used for the ribbon. It will not fray and is clear. TFS. Cute bags

If you think the recipient won’t reuse the bag, you could also embroider the To/From names on it and tell them to give the bag back for next year 😂

Parchment paper has a right and wrong side?? I’ve never heard that before.

It doesn’t normally but this Reynolds parchment has writing on one side which is why I like it.

Freezer paper has a waxed side and will adhere to the back of your project to stabilize for sewing.

I love freezer paper for that purpose. For protecting the iron when using fusible interfacing, it doesn't work, however. The fusible won't adhere well with the wax side down and will cause the fabric to stick and if you flip it over, you will get wax all over your iron.
