dont leave search mode on auto. this will allow AFMF to be turned off during high movement in games, which leads to a perception of choppyness or stutter because of the wild fps fluctuations when AFMF gets automatically disabled. Using high will stop this from happening keeping your fps consistent with mimimal artifacting.

If Im not mistake, if you use Radeon Super Resolution turned on via driver, you dont need to use Radeon Imagem Sharpening, cuz this feature is already part of the super resolution function, it will be used automatically, both of them, everytime you run a game at a resolution inferior to 1080p.

I'm not using RSR though, I'm using FSR within the game. Generally speaking, using upscalers that are available in game will perform better than driver based upscalers. If the game doesn't support upscaling then RSR is the best option. Of course I'm sure there's some exceptions!

Difficult, new chips are coming next year but whether ASUS will do an upgraded model is yet to be seen. They've previously said they don't want to push a new model yearly and the new chips are only incremental upgrades from RDNA 3.0 to 3.5, 2026 we'll see RDNA 4.0 and that'll be a worthy upgrade.

For a horror game i would keep it 30fps locked. Which worked with just use of performance TDP, at 900p this would be great for games I can keep locked 30fps! Extend my battery on. I can't wait to experiment with it on tekken 8, that game is 60fps locked internally in the game. It had awful drops

It's not overly complicated, I may have made it seem so as I was doing comparisons between native, upscaled & frame generated. Really, you just need to enable AFMF2, enable AMD overlay, ensure full screen, turn off vsync, you're good to go. Sadly, in my testing, those quick settings do not work currently. It is a bug.

I struggled between buying either the Ally X or the Steam Deck(I’m new to PC gaming) and I found an Ally X open Box at $650 plus an old switch trade in that gave me $90 off so I practically got it for the price of a steam deck.. anyway I love this thing! I do think all the windows setup in the beginning sucks and I did struggle with figuring things out in the beginning especially with the long install times but now it runs amazing and I love playing it! What games do you recommend on this thing I’m currently playing Cyber Punk, Forza, and Brotato 😄

Yeah, as far as I'm aware side loading is still necessary for eGPUs. That's why I went Nvidia for my eGPU, so I didn't need to sideload drivers.

For some odd reason my AMD overlay never shows me the info of Frame Gen Lag on the top right corner. It always says N/A even when I turn on AFMF2 and FSR. How did you manage to fix that? I’m on my ROG Ally X btw.

Make sure the game is fullscreen & vsync off. Some games, like Forza Horizon 5 won't work with AFMF2, AMD have disabled it for certain games that it won't work well in

Tried path of exile 2 with afmf2 and it is like afmf2 keeps turning on and off? Extreme stutter. Something in the game must be placing an overlay or something as the amd minitor and fps keeps tanking. In general as well I find lossless scaling way easier to setup and use with better results.

No need to rollback, ASUS have commented saying it's a bug, get it all set up then turn off your overlay and enjoy the game. It's the overlay bug that's causing the stuttering

I have both tested AFMF2 and Lossless Scaling and I can see a big difference in smoothness. For example even though I have like 70+ fps on AFMF2 It feels not smooth, it doesnt even feel 60fps. But with Lossless Scaling its far smoother, like a through 60 fps experience. I dont know why this is happening.

@@e.d.v.8202 I never thought other people would notice. I have been using Lossless Scaling in very heavy games on the ROG Ally X. From Space Marine 2, RDR2 and Helldivers 2. I just feel that Lossless Scaling is way smoother and better overall. At first I thought it the input LAG with be bad but I have managed to finish a match on Helldivers 2 on the hardest difficulty fighting bots which means it worked like charm.

In the limited tests I've done of AFMF2 I haven't noticed any non-smooth gameplay, providing the base FPS is at least 35+ FPS. Lossless scaling is a great option but of course that's a paid app and this is a free driver.

How? It's a driver level feature. Providing you have the correct driver installed, have it enabled in AMD adrenaline software, have the AMD overlay enabled, running the game in full screen and vsync off, it should work on anything.

whenever I enable it, I get the error saying the game isn't supported and I should use it in opengl, vulkan, dx11 or dx12 yet it is running on one of them. And when I do get it working it doesn't even give me more fps it just makes the game looks a little weird and performs worse. The other games like game pass games just refuse to even turn it on, constantly just turns it off immediately as I load the game.

After using both, I’ve had better experiences with lossless scaling on steam for most my games. It’s still better than afmf 2 imo right now especially with the release of lsfg 2.3. Just cap your frame rate at half or a third of what your scaling is and you’re good to go. Both are game changing!

I think 3x lossless scaling can generate more frames than afmf 2 though and is smoother in most scenarios that I play which is heavy modded games. With it still being a tech preview afmf 2 will probably surpass it for me soon enough.

I loved it when I first discovered it and used it for that dumpster fire of optimization called dragons dogma 2 hahaha it was butter smooth..but if you go higher than 2x it makes ur characters head be all glitchy when you turn..shit was annoying especially in horizon forbidden west. high is for resolutions above 1440p, standard is below 1440p. It does say high can be used at lower resolutions but I haven't tested that yet. Auto has been fine. Performance is of course the one to choose but auto would automatically select that as it wouldn't detect a discrete GPU.

And it will tell you high is for 1440 OR higher, not just above 1440p… the word for word reading is “high is recommended for gaming at a resolution of 2560x1440p and greater, however, this can be enabled at lower resolutions to improve smoothness”

AFMF 2 is awesome. I loved it on my Rx 6800 it was a game changer in fallout London. But since upgraded to a 4080 super which blows the 6800 out the water but I now get less fps in fallout London with a 4080 super than i did with my Rx 6800 using AFMF 2. Not a lot less but less. I miss AFMF2. I will get another AMD Gpu when they nail RT and path tracing. Mainly RT and image quality in upscaling and I will go back to AMD. I was always AMD see AMD is the best, screw Nvidia. But do like my 4080 super but hate the software it sucks. and it has nothing like AFMF2. Installing it on my ROG ally now. But it's stuck in a restart loop atm. oh there it goes finally lol TBH I never play my steamdeck or ROG Ally anyway lol

Wow we are finally able to run games in 720p at 80fps with lag, finally we achieved the ultimate technology in 2024. Is not that bad to play games at their lowest graphics quality and 720p resolution and some lag, i dont see anything wrong about it, do you guys see anything wrong? Lets all get hyped about this, hold hands and dance. Dont worry, iphones cant play Assassin's Creed Mirage better then the Rog Ally X, neh, they would never.. they dont have fans, they are smaller, there is no way an iphone could play a game better then a handheld made esspecially for gaming
