No please, I have enough projects going on! I have a similar ship, USS Constellation, where I had finished the hull and deck. I never finished the rigging because I was living in Italy at the time and I would need to get it back to the states in one piece. This was my first and only model ship and it's still in the box I shipped it back in. The story of my life, I picked an easy one...LOL. When I opened the box i was surprised by the number of wood strips and small pieces. The kit requires thinking ahead 2 to 3 steps, to be successful. It's like putting a puzzle together. You just have to make the pieces. That was 20 years ago...lol. Thank you :)

Olha, I just finished a total restoration of a 1957 tractor. Every nut and bolt. Now I can spend time on my ships again. Which brought me back to you. Please tell me why you consider this ship difficult? Your skill set is vast. Wood is wood. Not being negative! Want to understand. I do not have this kit. Yet. Added: now I remember this kit! It is Admiralty! Many parts. Model Shipways.
@OlhaBatchvarov3 жыл бұрын
I can imagine how many nuts you have to tighten ... This model is very large and quite heavy - so the difficulty depends not only on the number of parts, but also on the difficult manipulation of the model. It takes a lot of time to turn from the left side to the right side or vice versa and it should be done very carefully so as not to touch or break anything - especially the stern parts...
@killerkane19573 жыл бұрын
@@OlhaBatchvarov - not just tighten but organized, bead-blast, prime, paint. And of course each bolt is original and head stamped. Every seal and bearing. Total disassemble. As challenging as an auto restoration. I realizes that when done! Thank you for your reply. Your work is so beautiful, organized, and efficient! Despite my decades of work, I always see a better way while watching your efforts! Amazing! God Bless.

You probably already know this, but I'd like to give you this tip. The best invention I've come across in recent years. Bicarbonate of soda and super glue. Hard as stone, but sandable. Dry in 1.5 seconds. Pour more bicarb add another drop... endlessly adaptable
@OlhaBatchvarov3 жыл бұрын
Yes I know this trick! I use it only in cases where PVA does not work. For example, glue metal to wood, etc. If you use only CA on such a big hull - cataracts will be guaranteed! This is a very toxic glue, but it is also impossible to build without it completely, especially when installing the rigging...

@OlhaBatchvarov3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was Titebond II! At this stage it will not be visible that the glue is yellow after drying - so it is perfect here. CA - definitely not for such an important stage of construction! It is not suitable for work at high temperatures - and I will use a soldering iron when bending the planks directly on the hull... CA can not withstand the load the joint and the surfaces are hard to clean from it! (this video has an example of removing a part without damaging adjacent parts, which cannot be done with CA). I am using CA but not at this stage...

Thank you very much! In Europe it is a sport and therefore I am a retired athlete in my country))) I studied with the best coaches and won the highest title in Ship Modeling. But I got bored in the United States without my own students, so I created this channel. To share all my knowledge with everyone and help beginners master this hobby...

Could you recommend a beginner model. I have built several models from kits (Matchitecture, Ugears) etc. but never a ship like these.
@OlhaBatchvarov3 жыл бұрын
This is a completely different type of kits where you need to work with glue and cut and sand wooden parts even if they are laser cut! This building process is much longer, so choose the ship that you will be interested to building! And remember that the smallest model does not mean the ieasiest. Here it is rather the opposite!

@@OlhaBatchvarov Thank you for the quick reply! I am currently building a 1:12 scale model of my home so am familiar with cutting, sanding and fitting to scale. I am just looking to expand my modeling. You make it look very interesting, so am looking for a starter model as I don't want to get in over my head to start with and end up frustrated. Thank you again for such a wonderful channel.

When you buy these kits, do the parts come already cut-up and shaped to size? What kind of glue is used
@OlhaBatchvarov2 жыл бұрын
"Yes" and "No". Here are all the laser-cut parts, but each still needs to be "held in the hands" before gluing because there is no angle of 90 degrees on the ship. Everything should be shaped and sanded. This is definitely not a LEGO constructor...

Hello Olha Yes, I have also made history USS Constitution Santísima Trinidad US Constellation Cutty SarkHMS Victory. etc etc and many more all on a large scale but now I'm with this black pearl, you know that those of us who make models look for new challenges Greetings Rafe

This is something personally mine - while I am building a model, I am studying the history of this ship and it becomes my main inspiration... PS Pirates of the Caribbean - my favorite movie...

Does the kit come with all the little clamps...or is that an added expense?
@OlhaBatchvarov3 жыл бұрын
This is an additional expenses! There are no tools in this kit, only ship parts...
