That's the drawer I bought for myself. Due to it not having a foam insert, and not being able to fit foam inside plus the pastel, it destroyed my Sennelier. 😢 I now use it for my blenders, colored pencils, erasers etc... Jackson's makes a proprietary box for pastels that has foam and folds open. It's beautiful and the least expensive one I have found of it's kind... Even with shipping. ❤'s

Jackson's is Horrible shipping price-wise for me. I don't know that I Can order from them. I'm going to probably put some of my pastels in without foam and see how they do for a few weeks. Maybe if I am not moving it around very much they will be okay? SO sorry to hear about your Senneliers! That is so disappointing!

I take washi tape and mark the pencils that aren't lightfast that way so I know if they get mixed up that one isn't lightfast.

I don’t know if you’ve resolved the sticky drawers but a light sanding and a candle rubbed along the runners will solve it xx

Great haul! I can’t believe you got all for around $150 that’s awesome. I would love to see you explain the proportional divider thingy more, that sounds really helpful for portraits

The second half of the video wasn't included in the $!50. I wasn't going to include it when I filmed the first half, but then I thought "What the heck, I might as well!" The second half was funded partially by some super thanks and partially by myself!

I got rid of all the tins I have, they just take up space and are harder to use when they're all stacked together. I just chucked all my pencils together! Just put all similar colours together

Ha ha! Yep. They're out of the tins and in the drawers already! I did it the same day they came! They're organized by brand for now, but I don't know if they will stay that way!

Oooooo such fun. I’ll be excited to see how you use them all. I’ve also been on a colored pencil and watercolor kick and am trying to loosen up for a more illustrative style and have been so enjoying that in my journals! Your wooden box if it is not sealed will expand or shrink based on the moisture or humidity in the environment. I use a bar of soap rubbed on the sides to help the drawers slide.

I personally love colours that dance across the page or are unusual but if you’re looking for a professional watercolour that layers is exceptionally well then the best one is Senniler for Glazing, and the colours are quite vibrant, but they don’t have the beauty of much granulation or colour separation at all.

I love granulating colors too and use them a lot for certain things, but I also use nice, clear colors for glazing as well, depending on what I am painting! Thank you for watching!

Great haul, thanks for sharing. Would love to see a follow-up after you've organized your supplies into your drawers. I thought it was an interesting concept to separate the 25-50 yr lightfast pencils and the 50-100 years. If you can't blend the colors you're looking for then you can dip into the 25-50 year colors. I like to buy complete sets when possible, so for something like Derwent's Procolour set, the lower lightfast colors make it possible to experiment with different techniques and experience the quality of the pencil without sacrificing the higher quality colors that would be used for finished pieces. Hullo Amy, I have completely stopped using ANY Dan Smith art products. I have been completely taken over by DaVinci Paints of California. It is a smaller company that still cares about their customers! I hope you try one of their curated palettes. I have purchased several of Denise Soden's palettes I enjoy her wildlife set and her newest Embrace Opaque watercolors is fast becoming a go to palette! If you want a more accessible brand (Available more places) I can recommend M. Graham paints too. You can avoid those tariffs on foreign made paints if you are trying to stay within a budget.

A great haul with a nice mix of the traditional (tubes of paint etc) and the unusual (proportional dividers). Part way through I had this vision of a future video that starts with a scene of scattered Amazon/Blick boxes filling the whole screen and a faint, little voice saying "Help me, help me, I can't find my way out" 🙂 Definitely looking forward to seeing you put these items through their paces over the next few months; I hope all the new acquisitions give you much pleasure. ❤😊 Great art haul and thank you for sharing. People told they weren’t using the form pads so the manufacturers stopped including the form. So a few no soft pastels users ruined it for those that needed the form. Also, in drawers higher quality than available now, the dividers used to be removable, now their fixed, so that took space needed for product. 😢

Qor watercolors have the best dispersion I have ever seen in a watercolor. It moves faster across your paper wet on wet. Because of this a lot of people have said they don't recommend it for beginners who are just learning to control the water in their paintings. I used it and loved it.

instead of taking labels off, you can just scribble on them with a sharpie. It's a lot less time consuming!

I've tried it but there is some sort of coating on some of the labels and it beads up and smears and gets all over my hands. Has that happened to you?

Amy, just a quick note but WAX can allow your draws to slide much easier, ask your husband, sanding might be the next option? I would store your pastels on the lower drawers as the dust will filter down onto your other supplies. I gave up on my drawers and went to boxes. I built my own based on the Heilman pastel boxes as I did not have the money to buy a Heilman box! There are other options, but I had wood so all I had to buy was some hinges, knobs and screws small enough to put them together!

I made the mistake of buying a "knock off" box like yours from amazon (not from US Art Supply) and the drawers are so small in height that they definitely don't hold any kind of pastel except nupastels. It's sitting unused on my desk because it would cost $10 to ship back and it was $30- so if anyone reads this- don't buy the knockoff! Buy what Amy bought. I guess I'll use mine as a jewelry box of some sort.

@@winterwoodsstudio I started a channel even though I'm a beginner and have no ability to teach or "inspire" in the traditional sense just because I wanted to make use of getting so many boxes. And also, then I can rewatch my videos and remember how excited I was to buy those supplies in the first place and remember to use them. At least you use your supplies and then make tutorials for your audience! I'm excited to see what you make. And by the way, I love pastel and I love your pastel videos. I do notice pastel does not get the same attention as watercolor in the social media world and I'm not sure why (because it's dusty?) but I am obsessed with the look and feel of soft pastel so I would love to see more of your pastel work.

Oh! I forgot to tell you in your Sketchbox video, but I know you had to have heard about Domestika. There's an excellent course on there that teaches you how to draw Manga characters from scratch (since the proportions are obviously different from the usual human body. The way men, women, and children and proportioned are.very specific). I'm sure there's some on Skill Share too, but I use Domestika so that's just what I know. You should take a course! If for no other reason than they're SO fun! But also, I want to see you win!😂😂

Very nice art haul! I have several of those wooden drawers and they come in very handy for storing chalk pastels, colored pencils, erasers, charcoal, and even small watercolor tubes!
