I clicked on the video thinking "Who even needs such a huge bouldering gym?" But by the time the video ended I wanted to hug Simon. The gym was clearly made by people with SO much passion for climbing and even kids and just people and life I would say. Einstein's Rope to call it simply (handmade!!) is a great example. I wonder how much that weighs! I loved the comparison to wandering in the woods. This is amazing, I would never want to leave.

I feel like i might be one of the few who prefer a smaller gym cause I find it easier to make friends climbing the same problems as others rather than finding a little hole to hide myself in. Of course not too small though I like being friendly, but I dont need to feel you behind me either lol

The fact that you’re able to invest 8-9 million euros just to open a climbing gym exclusively for bouldering and it probably will pay off is pure insanity. Who would’ve predicted this 5-10 years ago? Crazy how fast our sport is growing and evolving. I never was and never will be a big fan of this evolution but it for sure brings us insane climbing temples like this one, worth a visit. Although I wouldn’t want to make this my daily gym.

I agree completely, this would be cool to visit but too much as a regular gym. Also seems like the hold density is really low. I like when the walls are more packed with holds to create make-ups. I know a big spray wall does the same but its nice to do on the actual walls too. Some of the funnest sessions I've had have been make ups my buddies and I rage on
@sightreader25072 жыл бұрын
@@1c3M0nk3y From my experience, hold density is always low when a gym opens, it's not worth the time setting everything for the launch as everything will be new to customers. Typically becomes denser in the first months

There are already some big Climbing gyms nearby, such as DAV, which is 15 minutes by bicycle from this Blockhelden gym. You can actually choose what to do.
@just_me_10442 жыл бұрын
there are a lot of people here (Franconia) who mostly go bouldering in the gym or climbing outside on rock. Climbing indoors is not as popular in this area. For bouldering you just need your shoes, chalk and you're ready. Meet up with your friends or go by yourself - all much more convenient for an evening session then needing a belaying partner, gear, etc. or if you do have the time, then climbing on real rock beats the gym by far

Dear fellow climbers, this gym truly looks amazing but sadly there is a dark, dark story behind the blockhelden company. They really did criminal shit, that i am very embarassed of as a climber. While they built this new huge gym, they were already running another gym nearby in a building they rented. But since opening the new gym delayed, they did not move out of the rented building as planned, still had their gym open for the public but did not pay rent and refused to close and move out. Finally when they moved out they left the place dirty and with a lot of rubbish. They only care about money and are a shame for the climbing community. What a shame. There are court proceedings running but what they did, is truly criminal
