Thing with Young is that people saw Steph 2.0 and was riding this wave while loosing his identity in the process. He was gaining fans and gaining confidence but the this wave ended and haters appeared. Now he can’t escape this shoot-deep-3-even-when-15-seconds on the clock mentality.

I think Tatum’s biggest dilemma is his inability to finish around the rim in playoffs. I know he is a great finisher in regular season based on %, but the paintzone packing defense in playoffs literally make him shoot horrible at the rim. He needs to develop strength to finish with a contact

@tim.noonan
@tim.noonan Жыл бұрын
They play more basketball than ever before they get to college, and no one who’s responsible for their care (coaches, parents etc) puts any effort into maximizing their health. They all capitalize on their youth to play as much ball as possible and put as many miles on their growing bodies as possible. That creates poor habits and a weak foundation. Tendons, ligaments and joints are worn out before they ever make it to the league, and they end up paying for it in the pros. No one cares about making this sort of lifestyle sustainable for the kids trying to make it. Rest, repair and healthy movement patterns aren’t on anyone’s radar until it’s too late.

Celtics' fan. So I've managed to watch majority of the games this season and it's really much of the same with Tatum. Big shooting nights to be gone the next night, a lot of jacking up shots he doesn't need to take, late game turnovers, not giving up the ball when he is having a bad night(which can be blamed on the coaching staff for not recognizing it. It isn't taking away his confidence. If he wants to win, he has to be more self aware), layups, and a few more, but I'm not trying to pick apart everything. It's all things he can change. But I wonder if he's willing to co-exist like Jaylen has said he's able to take a step back behind Jayson, but I think it needs to go both ways. It's an opinion, so you all will not agree.

I believe new players are hand held their way to the NBA. None of them try the same way the old gen tried. From a young age these players have been coached and told they were on their way to the NBA. It’s the belief they are better then other players that I think leads to a lack of improvement. It’s common now to see good players in high school not try in practice and find trouble outside of the court. Before however, their was no game to count on. Basketball has never been this big and players from the 1900’s had to really work to make it a game. We see this trend also with over seas players. All the players we talk about today who don’t complain and show up to every game and no controversy outside of the court are over seas players. Luka, Jokic, Giannas. Kids in the US who are born with height and athletic ability are too comfortable and it is very rare to find one with that work ethic.

Jaren Jackson didn't play for the first ~20 games of the season, and we've been missing Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke due to injury for what feels like over a month now. Even in the face of all this we are still same seed as last year and only 1 game behind last years record. AND last year's Grizzlies record was the second best year in Franchise history, beaten only be the 2012-13 season conference Finals appearance; that's a hard act to follow but we damn near are to a T.

Why is everyone considered a superstar? You guys need to start using proper terms when addressing players like Rising Star, Star,and Superstar. Watering down the term when you apply it to everyone, thus leading to people calling everything a Superteam, and drawing comparisons that never should’ve existed. Superstar is reserved for the top 10 players in the league, superstars are always voted in to the all star game.

Trae Young thinks he's Steph Curry wayyyy too much. Bro doesn't nearly have Curry's game. Curry sprints from end to end non-stop allowing him to get open shots and opens up his teammates. A superstar is willing to constantly move off the ball just to give his teammates the opportunity to get open. Trae is a 15 dribble jack-up a deep three shot guy. Again this comes back to what Austin Rivers was talking about. Highlight culture is killing the game. We have new guys coming in thinking they're in House of Highlights all the time and just jacking up deep contested threes or bad contested shots. Refusal to improve on the basics of the game and improve themselves every season is not helpful at all. Yes, the new generation has immense talent but their fundamentals in basketball are very bad. Guys like Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. Not flashy, but incredibly sound in fundamentals allowed them to dominate the game. Hope the new generation of players work more on their game

You talking like you have watched Trae this season. He had a hard first month getting used to playing with DJ. He’s been great all year since then. And under Quinn Snyder so far we would have a top 5 offense and a top 10 defense. So, when he shows you, keep this same energy alright?

It's a really small sample size to start talking about top 5 offense and top 10 defense, but yes, you're right. I feel like people just cling onto the same tired false narratives when it comes to Trae and they don't actually watch the Hawks and see the improvements he's made. He still has his flaws, which I'm sure Hawks fans wouldn't even deny, but he's young still and hopefully Quin Snyder will help to bring out the best in him.
@Spencetenor
@Spencetenor Жыл бұрын
@@ant4613 he definitely does have flaws but one of my least favorite things people say is “that he tries to play like Steph”… no he doesn’t. Yes he’s not the same shooter curry is, but curry will never be the same level passer Trae is. They are different players, and unless you have watched every game he’s ever played (which I have) I wouldn’t be talking about his game or trying to act like you know anything about it.
@ant4613
@ant4613 Жыл бұрын
@@Spencetenor I agree with you. That's what I mean, people push the same narratives from like 5 years ago or years ago that just aren't true today. Trae got Curry comparisons coming into the draft and they stuck, in reality, they're only similar because they're small guards that shoot long threes. In 2023, they play nothing alike.

@@duffal0 that’s quite the praise. Especially considering OKC has had 3 eventual mvps on their roster. I think the issue that that there isn't a player that truly breaks through world wide popularity. I think the NBA is going to be in trouble when LeBron retires because there's no one to pass the torch to. There's no LeBron, Jordan, Kobe etc that even non-basketball fans know and recognize. that's the problem with the young stars.

I just don’t understand why Cuban can’t just find good pieces around his star players, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Kyrie is a good pick up in my opinion though, someone who can shoot from any end of the court, it’s the other pieces that are just…why? Why are they so keen on Dwight Powell and Reggie Bullock when they have done fuck all for the team, give up on them already.
