The good news we have never been closer to nuclear war in the middle east and russia. We have never had such political rhetoric in the USA. Soon the race for much of us, the race might end. Truthfully, I am ready, take me first. The world without us, the planet will do better.

I appreciate this video, thanks! It helped me make sense of some of the UI stuff I’m seeing as a new/occasional player. I’m still learning what addons and UI elements I can use in lower difficulty content like low mythics and new dungeons and stuff, when I have a hard time navigating or keeping track of fights without experience.

I tried to check the stream but was really confused not ever having played WoW before. Your video was exactly what I needed, thank you! If there's a follow-up, there a few terms from the broadcast which would be really interesting to understand, like Pulls and the percentages that show up for each guild on the leaderboard.
@dglynch222
@dglynch222 3 ай бұрын
A "pull" is an attempt to kill the boss, either successful or unsuccessful. So the pull number you see on the broadcast is the number of attempts that guild has made against that boss. For example, Liquid killed Nexus-Princess on the 303rd attempt. Very brief abortive attempts are not counted. The percentage you see next to each guild is the boss' ending HP from their current best attempt against the boss they are currently working on. So right now, Liquid is shown as 61.72% because that's the lowest HP level they've ever managed to get Queen Ansurek: it's not necessarily their most recent attempt, but their best one so far.

Hot take: why don’t they make tournament realms for RWF. Realms are open until top 10 guilds beat the pinnacle boss. Heroic loot is on vendors, realms go live globally Why would this be remotely better? Removes splits being a thing, allows more people to get involved from competing teams and watchers heroic week/splits sucks to watch Removing the RNG and time investment removes a lot of barriers But does create this weird “do I even play my live characters” for the actual people in the race and any not racing feel like they playing a different game Would make a more level playing field and funner to watch. But brings some weird social problems
@KingJerbear
@KingJerbear 3 ай бұрын
I think the aspect of doing splits and farming gear, renown, etc. is a huge part of the race. One team could get extremely lucky and get a huge head start, or the opposite. The amount of people involved besides the 30 in the raid is an enormous factor, and all of these people have to come together at a high level to be the best. On top of that, as you mentioned there's the whole point of not playing your own characters, competition of people vying for the highest gear score and biggest drops. Global Release of course seems like a no-brainer, I would assume the only reason it hasn't been implemented is that Blizzard doesn't think they can pull it off smoothly enough.

Oh come on, NA absolutely has an advantage. There is no "wasted time on a boss". They got extra time to practice the mechanics on that boss regardless of whether that boss was killable at that point or not.
@Br3576

No one really argues that NA generally has the advantage overall. It’s just not as significant of an advantage as it looks at a surface level

There are no prize pools but the race brings in literally millions of dollars. There are no losers because they both make boat loads of money. The privatization of the race means the players make a lot more money than if blizzard took it under its banner. But with this privatization comes it being a closed club that brings in basically no new players. You also get predatory and dangerous sponsorships - no one, and certainly no WoW players at our grown age - should be encouraged to down 4+ energy drinks. That’s another reason blizzard will never take the race over - it’s dangerous for the players (aging) health. The race also forces the narrative that only these players can do this because they are the best in the world. While they are the best, the race is a closed club and that is why only they can do it. The barrier of entry for mythic raiding is astronomically high - the barrier for entry for this level is raiding is basically impossible. The race is detrimental to the health of the game - game balance always suffers because of raid balance. Big fan tho!
@Alric79
@Alric79 3 ай бұрын
I have a hard time seeing that the RWF would be better under a Blizzard umbrella from a player (participant) perspective, they don't have a stellar e-sports reputation when it comes to rewarding the teams that put the effort in.
@bobbythememe
@bobbythememe 3 ай бұрын
@@Alric79 that’s what I’m saying. The players would get pennies compared to what they make now. The players definitely make more, but at the cost of the health of the game and a better competition. The narrative that only these players in the world can do this is wrong. There are many skilled players (not me) who will never be able to do this because the barrier of entry is astronomically high. There is no path to pro. There is hardly new blood. There is also no real stakes in the race. Who cares if you win when you make boat loads of money anyway. Again, the race is a million dollar event - it is extremely profitable. And that’s what the race will be so as long as it is privatized - a way to make money hidden under the guise of a community event. If they did a survey, I am very positive most RWF viewers don’t even play the game anymore. I like the race - but I’d love for people to acknowledge it for what it is.

Yeah a lot of people who don't do raiding and are on casual content or just M+ players are very interested in the event. Especially since it is seen as NA vs EU even if you aren't a raider you will still be interested. Overall, you need to see things from the bigger picture as I am just a casual player but still get hyped whenever I see a team kill a boss in Mythic for the very first time.

Ppl should stop over-inflating the importance of damn race to world first. That's what hurts wow the most. Honestly, they should delete mythic raids from wow completely imo. It's stupid to balance the game around 0,5% top players. Or... on the other hand bottom of the player base. Bring back 1-2 difficulties max.
