This was great stuff. Can easily see this channel growing. Also wanted to make a shoutout to Rosenborg as one of the more recent sleeping giants. From 1988 to 2006 they did not win the league in 89, 91 and 2005. Was dominating some in the mid to late 2010s again, but won their last title in 2018 and has been surpassed financially by other clubs after being a domestic financial powerhouse for all my life

Your video is a masterpiece! Thank you for this rather rich account of fallen giants. I also think that good football does not end at the borders of Germany and Poland - especially having in mind that I am on the eastern side of it. My favourite club, Polonia Warszawa, is somewhat a Phoenix club too - even though we haven`t produced that much of silverware trough history, it is indeed a very popular and well supported club. We have been champions of Poland for the last time in 2000, but suffered an administrative relegation to the fifth tier of Polish football in 2013. Since then, we were able to go all the way up to the second tier, where we`ve been struggling this season.

@@he_football yes and no. they needed a new stadium for a very long time, but hard to do if you are not allowed to build one by the governement. Aside from that they suffer from the same fate as other great clubs like ajax, psv, celtic, ... . In that they were forced into becoming a selling club. Only a handful of clubs that are buying clubs. (Man city, Man Utd, Chelsea, Real, Barca, Bayern). They can't keep their good players cause they can't keep up with the salary given by other clubs. If they could line up with say dendoncker - lukebakio - saelemaekers - bornauw - praet - duranville - lukaku - lokonga - tielemans - doku (i think youth products all) alongside their current squad they be able to at least somewhat compete. But they can't hold on their players cause of money. Not that some blame does not fall on them. some bad decision were made. but some was just lack of financial clout.

Dukla won a lot because it was propt up by the communist regime, also at the start or communism players had to work for the company the team was assigned to (army for Dukla) and the regime forced a lot o players to change teams to make Dukla or Sparta win (they made them the best teams ect.), after the fall the club was no longer supported by the regime and fell. Slavia was concidered a capitalist merchant class club by the party so it was supperesed, thats why the only won 1 czechoslovak cup during communism.

@he_football well one really mental irony of the Berlin situation is that in the old days before the wall came down Hertha fans were very tight with Union fans thus sharing a joint contempt of Dynamo. Even after the collapse of socialism and of course both sets of fans were freely able to mingle with no restrictions the close ties continued for many years. Over the more recent past as Union hasn't just become a close rival but has actually overtaken Hertha on the pitch the fan friendship has deteriorated. The Ultras of both clubs actually hate each other now which would have been unthinkable 30 years ago. From what I understand the younger generation at Hertha have even formed a friendship with the youth at BFC Dynamo in a sort of 'anti Union alliance'. Whilst the older BFC Dynamo lads from the DDR Oberliga times are pretty tight with Magdeburg nowadays.
