It’s not just awareness of autism. As we have gone through each iteration of the DSM, the criteria for who qualifies for a diagnosis has broadened. The primary reason we have “more autism” is we have changed the defining criteria to include more people.

My youngest brother was diagnosed with Asperger's in the early '90s when he was still quite young. I remember my grandma being surprised there was a diagnosis, saying that boys like my brother just used to be called "little professors" (she was born in 1925 and remembered that phrase being used for her peers as well as kids the same age as her own children). Autism spectrum has always existed, and people were aware of it a lot of the time, it just wasn't understood the way it is now. People acting like it's some startling new development have not been paying attention.

Teens are also more likely to not know they have a sexually transmitted infection (STI).” Women 35+ may have higher risk this doesn’t translate to actual outcomes as most are healthy.

As someone who is autistic, this case always infuriated me. The amount of damage this false study has done and is still doing to this day. Think of the amount of kids who’ve gotten sick from these preventable diseases after their parents were tricked into thinking these vaccines were dangerous. Think of the parents with autistic children who falsely believe that them vaccinating caused them to be autistic, feeling guilt over something that was never caused by them. And I’ll even go as far as to say that this fear culture that vaccines cause autism unintentionally caused people to see autism as this boogeyman who would ruin your perfect little child. If a child is autistic, it’s basically over for them. A fate worst than death for some. While instead, we should’ve been focusing on how to actually help out these autistic children and even autistic adults. To provide acceptance and help rather than misinformed awareness. It’s disgusting what people would do for a quick buck, careless about the damage they caused. Thank you for this video, so many people are clueless about this study years after it’s been debunked.

This channel is uncritical, and dogmatic. Appealing to authority is the only thing it does well. In that case I'll reference some of people who are actually on the inside. Richard Horton, editor of the Lancet, expressed the opinion that “much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue” [1]. A similar sentiment was expressed by John Ioannidis, professor of medicine, epidemiology, and population health at Stanford, who stated, “There is increasing concern that in modern research, false findings may be the majority or even the vast majority of published research” [2]. Marcia Angell, former editor of The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), disclosed, “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines”

I can tell you why the rate of autism rose, it's really simple, it was being diagnosed. I wasn't diagnosed as a child, not was my hypermobility, the medical community just weren't aware of them as they are now. I went into teaching and in the early days it was thought autism didn't affect girls, we now know that's untrue, girls and women are just better as masking (hiding) it to fit in with peers. If I was a child now there's a high probability it would be spotted and diagnosed. Many years ago it was named different things and people severely affected were out into institutions. My parents were told to put me into a school for special needs & they refused. I have a high IQ so I think I would have been bored, on other aspects of school.life it may have been easier for me.

This was a good video. As far as what else you might cover, why not study how many people eventually come down with Rheumatoid Arthritis or other autoimmune diseases when they are adults who have received the MMR vaccines as children versus a group of adults who never had received the MMR vaccine. I know such prospective studies are very difficult to do. Some diseases take a long time to develop.

But as for vaccines & medicine in general well it runs on that the pros outweigh the cons. We just aren't advanced enough yet as a species in both medicine/technology...

My best friend's son is 35 and Autistic. 5 more friends from school have children with autism. We did our research, saw all the doctors and snake oil salesmen. We both concluded it's probably genetic and is over diagnosed. We found that "true" autism has physical characteristics not just developmental. Low muscle development, extra large genitalia, eczema, lactose intolerance and a few more. I could tell when my son was 4 months but I had twins so I had a control and it was easier to see. You've now convinced me Wakefield was not merely incorrect, but motivated by horrible financial incentives (both on the lawsuit side and the patent side) and maybe even altered his data, etc., or at least your video shows that side of it, and I don't know what other narrative would convince me otherwise at this point. What I'd like to know is whether you feel the same way about Judy Mikovits or not. I don't know why someone would do a dime when she could have recanted unless she really thought she was right. It could be that, indeed, Wakefield had HIS perverse incentives and behavior, but perhaps Big Pharma does as well, as I think we saw during COVID-19. Judy got out from the inside in 2018 and I heard her side of things about a year before COVID-19 hit, and her side seemed compelling, much more so (at least at this point) than Wakefield.

Fascinating! Something interesting to cover on autism perhaps: the link between hormones and autism, and overlap between autism and transgender folk. I was googling a bit back to find a study I recall reading about about some sort of fetal exposure resulted in more transgender folk in a population (parent exposed while pregnant, when those fetuses were adult, they were more likely to identify as lgbt including trans). I wasn't able to find the specific study, but did find a similar one around an endocrine disrupter possibly causing more lgbt folk, and when googling that, stumbled on some folk trying to see if autism was linked to endocrine disrupters. Scishow did a video on the possible link between hormones in fetal development and autism, which was fascinating. Then, there's the emerging thing that that autistic people are more likely to be trans, and trans people and more likely to be autistic. It makes a lot of sense that hormones issue during fetal development could cause transgender folk (as gender and sexual identity is likely formed during fetal development), and that also contributing to autism would explain some of the overlap (tho there's other social reasons for it -- being rejected from parts of society already likely makes it easier to come out). It'd be interesting to see someone dive into the research on this who's more informed on medical research. This also means there may actually be more (or less) lgbt folk and autistic folk percentage wise due to increased (or decreased) exposures.
