Both the vocalists and the lip sync guys had terms in their contracts that made it so if they spoke the company could sue them into oblivion. Told them one thing handed contracts that was somthing diffrent.

I wiil not tolerate Milli Vanilli slander. I haven't watched the video yet. Rob and Fab were taken advantage off. I think people blame them because they were the face of the scam, but when they were originally signed they thought they'd be singing but the contract it said they were actually gonna lip sync some songs at the start of their career to get some buzz in their native Germany, thinking it was temporary they went along with it, but ended up blowing up quicker than expected. Watched the video, pretty much said same thing.
@han-dellАй бұрын
Lip sync acts were also very commonplace in Germany and the rest of Europe around then too! Americans essentially took it too hard when they found out what the deal was (AND JUST ASSUMED IT WAS FRAUD because it's different to how the US music industry works) ((the album cover thing, Xevi mentions was actual fraud according to US law courts, but I disagree))

Frank Farian's previous group was disco group Boney M. He hired Bobby Farrell to lip-sync his own vocals live, and people were fine with that too. I honestly feel like Frank should be able to be charged with manslaughter or similar (depraved indifference?) for what happened to Rob. After the truth came out and the whole debacle imploded, Sony had anybody that owned a CD or album wanted a refund, send the back sleeve of the CD. The one that had the track listings on it. They then returned the cost on average album/CD to each customer that you sent in the back cover, I remember getting nine dollars But, since I had gotten the CD from Columbia house, I never paid for it anyway.
