+ProgPalace Hangouts is an embarrassment. I'm sure Google wants to move on swiftly so people forget about it, but they are too proud to remove Hangouts completely and admit defeat (either that, or they don't want inconvenience the few people who do use Hangouts. The same goes for Google+). However, I think Allo and Duo could be integrated into a single app. Not sure why they aren't, unless it'll be too large/bloatsome.

+ProgPalace Home is a copy of Echo, they even acknowledged Amazon's roll. With that said, I have no doubt it'll be a better device. Google has better voice recognition and better search results. Also it will be able to converse with you (meaning you can ask follow up questions), not just answer questions one by one.

So this I/O has just been Google playing catch up with current technologies: Google Home = Amazon Echo (Alexa) Allo = Microsoft's Skype bots & WhatsApp & Facebook's Messenger Duo = Skype & FaceTime Vulkan = Metal on iOS and MacOS Notifications Reply = iOS Notification Center's reply feature DayDream = Gear VR Android Wear 2.0 = WatchOS 2 So to all those people who complain that Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, and others just steal ideas from each other, so does Google. And as for me, I'm glad these features are being innovated on.. Makes the customer's experience better on each platform.

+Paul Joseph the idea behind duo is that it's supposedly to be fast and single-use. They did this on purpose. That said, I wish they would make Allo into the default SMS app and make it into an iMessage clone.

Runal Patel Haa bhai, allo could make a great default app, but a mashup of both the apps could still work out well if the transition between various functions is seamless and easy to use. But having said that it's their decision to create two apps, let's see how it pans out....

Android Studio has come such a long way!!! I remember hours installing Android plugins for eclipse and praying that it wouldn't crash when I ran the code. Android Studio now feels much more snappy and the layout is very clean.The C++ support is a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work on Android Google!

Google Talk was amazing, clean and simple, and then Hangouts ruined it... whatever was then good Hangouts will be removed in Allo. Chrome had vertical tabs support and they removed it. Google Reader was killed, Google Currents are not current any more, Google Moderator is killed, Google Desktop also, Picasa... and so many more that I did not use: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Google_products#Discontinued_products_and_services

Wow this is the first Google I/O I've seen in literally YEARS that has not impressed me with anything. Further fragmentation of its ecosystem, Allo and Duo are horrendous names, the Assistant is kinda cool I guess but it didn't have the wow factor of the Now On Tap demo last year. Android Wear well I don't have smart watch and won't be getting on anytime soon sooooo... Instant reply to messages? T extra has had this for years and even Apple built this in a couple of years ago too. Very uncompelling stuff from google this year surprisingly.

I was combining the comments and I kept seeing people complain about the whole "fragmented" ecosystem Google is creating, but it seems a lot of people are failing to recognize how huge this company is. Things will be fragmented before they become unified. You can see Microsoft Windows working on unifying there ecosystem today, Google and Apple will soon jump on board. On another note, I'm a huge apple user, but damn, this is tempting. Google is getting very, very appealing. Still can't leave my AppStore though.
