This was such an unbelievable performance by dog. I totally agree with Scout that this was the best performance in CTM history (and really Tetris history simply by the consistency of the high scores). This reminded me of when TOMMY NTG won challengers and then won Masters a week later, it was THAT amazing. This community never disappoints, glad to be a part of it!

The kids a freak man for reals. Amazing champion/competitor the Dog is!. Il be rooting for Joseph and Nenu to win CTWC this year in the end, but my gut says its likely gonna come down to Dog again and almost certainly his bro Andy who is also just ridiculous and one of the most consistent players in the world as well in his own right....or Huff who was already like top 7-10 in the world this time last year and then now has or is on the verge of already mastering this frickin rolling technique which just makes him that much better and more dangerous, but despite that for now Dog is the man to beat and the man period!. I dont know if ya saw the one after this I believe it was for August I believe it was? but Sidnev was just on fire and had a similar run of elite opposition faced...until the end anyways but yeah. I really miss Richard aka Bereny I hope he's just taking an extended vacation and not retired, and Batfoy and them, but thankful to have players like Nenu,Sidnev,Hydrant Dog, Huff,Cheeze, and them around and very active in competitions at least ya know.

And it is still always a treat when Koryan is able to make or chooses to play and or qualify for a Monthly tournament which he's only done few times this year actually but I'm sure thats because of having other things going on and etc more so then him not being able to consistently qualify ya know, I still truly believe he can on e day pick up his what would it be 12th or 13th CTM title one day! I really believe he can, it'd take like a perfect combination of him being at his absolute best on that particular day, as well as some luck admittedly but I really do believe he can do it again one day!.

He got like 870+ k on a fricking level 29 start on Pal like last week I think it was! I have heard that sort of surprisingly but I guess not really these days someone actually has officially maxed out on Pal Tetris sometime in 2021? I haven't seen it but thats what I hear anyways. And as recently as a year and a half ago or less Almost everyone believed that was simply impossible , the big difference with Pal well one of them is of course how level 29 speeds are still blazingly fast and absurd but still what say 10-15 percent or so slower then NTCS level 29+ speeds, point is just 2 years ago even getting to 700k+ on PAL Tetris was like one of the rarest known feats probably in all of video gaming the world over! something like what 6-7 players had gotten 700k or more on Pal up to then....but now not only is a maxout possible and doable on PAL but now they are on the verge of scoring a fricking Max out on PAL....with a fricking level 29 start! lol and thats bloody ridiculous.....I'm sure like Huff and someone else prob already got PAL maxouts but I mean now and this is Sidnev who as of now does not use rolling I'm pretty sure and he got fricking 850+ k on PAL level 29 start! so imagine what like Hydrant or Huff or couple others can do on PAL with rolling ya know.....a maxout period is impressive enough...but now these guys are literally capable of level 29 start max outs on PAL! and capable of 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 + on NTSC Tetris level 18-19 starts, and are also capable of scoring well above 500k now on level 29 start as well!.
@danielhicks4826
@danielhicks4826 2 жыл бұрын
its awesome and amazing for sure, but at the same time I actually dont think itl be entirely great for main events like CTWC down the road...because what will inevitably happen and sooner rather then later is that like say an elite Hyper Tapper like Joseph or Richard or Nenu ,Koryan etc are playing a match against a future master tapper/roller elite player right...and lets say at the "end" of a particular match the Tapper is winning right at "kill screen" aka level 29 by say like 950k or 1 million to the other tapper/rollers 800 or even 700 ish k or so.....and essentially the tapper is able to at best get a few lines maybe a Tetris maybe 2 but extremely rarely at the "kill screen" then thats a top out.....but the tapper/roller could and eventually will be able to make that entire 200-300k+ deficit entirely on kill screen/post level 29 play to take the game in the end, so part of me is worried that if/ or when this time comes itl suck the drama out of the matches in the end, but at the same time this would be 100 percent fair and valid and if anyone does pull that off then they will have earned it and its not there fault of the other players aren't able to keep up with there increasingly dominant and absurd lvl 29+ kill screen play ya know, but its gonna be at least a minor dilemma when that time comes though...especially if it starts happening like all the time then I think itl actually become a sort of complicated potential issue in need of addressing potentially, but hopefully it does not get that bad or anything and also in major tournaments like that the nerves and drama and adrenaline of the moment also means that its less likely someone like say Huff or Cheeze or Hydrant even will literally be able to just score 500+ k on killscreen and go for 5 minutes+ post 29 every single time ya know....that is unlikely to get to that point soon, but it is on the table though and will be an interesting issue if/when that becomes not a problem because I mean its 100 percent just fair and legal itl just drastically change the dynamic of the game and it in the most extreme potential outcome could even essentially force all elite tappers to basically at least become moderately good /great/ master rolling to some extent or simply risk falling behind considerably in the end.....And I do think this is a bigger issue/concern then how it was with Das vs HyperTapping....because I mean Rolling is just a whole new ball game/door basically...I mean eventually the best rollers are going to be able to score somewhat consistent fricking max outs on level 29 start on NTSC version for bloody sakes ya know and if they can do that consistently in tournament p-lay to? then I mean damn what happens next ya know lol, guess will find out sooner then later most likely. I really never thought it'd come to something like this potentially...but in the end end maybe it really would be for the best to have essentially separate events....like one even has any and all styles welcome....one for just Das players....and one for just Das and Hyper tappers with no rolling? but thats controversial and if that were to happen it'd be wrong to make that official for like major tournaments such as CTWC of course...but eventually ther mght need to at least be like certain tournaments or major tournaments within tournaments where things like that might need to be considered down the line!.
@danielhicks4826
@danielhicks4826 2 жыл бұрын
Which isn't crazy though Vandweller once compared it to like Olympic swimming ya know 100 meter 200 meter 500 meter etc. Or diving/ and etc. Maybe it'd be like that Das only events/tournaments/ Tapping/Das only tournaments, and then the main one Das/Tapping/Rolling all allowed welcome tournaments/matches....but will see how it goes this will only be a legit valid potential concern if a time comes when like great/elite Rollers are basically able to score like 500+ or more on kill screen/lvl 29 play maybe not literally every single time of course but lets say pretty damn consistently enough to take matches they would otherwise be behind in at the start of level 29 like say at least 1-2 times a match for example then this could become a issue and totally change or at least usher in new dynamics/rules/separate events down the road...but I'm probably just over thinking/worrying is all lol.

Thanks so much for this recap! Question: do you think you will be doing much coverage of the Tetris Effect Connected portions of the championship? I feel like TEC's classic mode is a much more accessible entry point for people who may be interested in trying classic Tetris but don't want to / can't yet invest in the whole NES setup, yet I've seen very little coverage of the event in comparison to the NES brackets. I think a lot of new players could be wooed into eventually competing in the NES version of the CTWC if they knew there was a similar championship with a more accessible version of the game for them to begin honing their skills on. I know there are some differences between NES Tetris and TEC's "Classic" Tetris mode, but from what I've seen on your own channel (and a bit of my own playing, though I'm not that great), the similarities seem strong enough for new players to get a feel for whether or not this might be for them. Just a thought... more coverage of the CTWC TEC event might just bring more NES players in the end.

Now that they can play above 29, they can practically go indefinitely, so it's only a matter of time before we start seeing 1.5M scores and eventually someone breaking 2M score. While streaming some rollers are already putting 300k scores after Level 29 so if they manage to reach 1.2M by 29 and then pile 300k and 1.5M is possible. Now that level 29 has been breached and folks are working through it, there's no upper ceiling really. Records will be broken.

Respect to Cheez and Dog of course but with retrospect the biggest heavyweight matchup has to be Jonas v. Joseph 2018 CTWC final, yes these guys are getting more points and higher levels and rolling etc. but Jonas vs. Joseph were heavyweights in the true definition of the phrase - we all know for years no one could touch Jonas and following this final Joseph dominated classic Tetris for nearly 2 years
