I've got a 99 jaguar vanden plas I'm going to try to restore mine has severe rust in front frame rails I've got to fix that and I'm going to construct a full perimeter chassis to make it stronger. They are beautiful cars.

nice to see you still have the jag, we spoke a few years ago, I have a 2002 XJR in the UK. I think jaguar put a sell by date on those sensors as i just had to change the downstream sensors on mine, it didn't lose power I just had the check engine light come on. My XJR has only done 55,000 miles so I can't complain as apart from changing the head linear last month and general services every year, This is the first repair I needed to do in 15 years of owning the car, I've been talking about selling it for a few years now but these cars just attach themselves to your soul.

recently bought a 2003 xjr black on black with 67k miles. They are basically the same as your 2002 because the manual inside is from an 02, I believe they just sold the leftover 02's as 03's. dad had a 98' xj8L for 18 years since new and always wanted an xjr. Your video on the oil was really helpful. All its needed so far was a fuel filter, mass airflow sensor, and the oil change. Its running great right now, come spring im going to see which idler pulley is squeaking and get to that and or the belt, and do the spark plugs.

I have driven the XJR since 2018 and this is the only big repair big in 5 years. Unlike my BMW M6 that kept breaking once a year.

Dude, you do not use just any diagnostics for a Jag. You go to Jag authorized service and scan it. It will show so much more and so much more correctly, that you will be astounded. You can also repair quite a dew things at the spot. So at the end it can cost you even less.

I got a mid-range Innova ODBC reader for my XJR. So far, I haven't had to fix much and with the ODBC reader, it got me to do the correct fixes. I go see a very good jag indie shop also for the more complicated repairs.

Not yet, it is very hard because it is in the fuel tank.

It's not that hard. Yes, harder than older Jags that had the external fuel pump, but the trick is to disconnect the sending fuel line only and carefully move the tank out enough to access the top hatch. A couple hours work at max. Plenty videos for diy-ers on YT to be found.

not really for a part that has lasted 21 years, divide $2000 by 21 years and you'll see it's pretty cheap, wait until EV owners get a price for a new battery cell when the car hits 5 years old and is down to 80% capacity, now that's a bill.
