You got shafted on that single wheel bearing... I think I paid 700$ Canadian to replace both wheel bearings on the front of my 957. Always call around and get quotes. But I guess not much you can do if they isn't a lot of options.

This doesn't address whether a person should purchase a VW if they have a limited budget or if they need a second car. The question is, will a VW be reliable after 100k miles or after the 3rd owner? I love VWs, but sadly they don't hold up after significant use. They need consistent maintenance. And that's something you don't get from a lot of owners. Especially the 10k mile oil change interval that leased cars get. I advise non-car people (who can't do their own maintenance) to stay away from anything German, unless it has low miles.

@@ejsgarage was there a trick to getting the gears lined up? Running into same initial problem you had. Motor just grinds when you press button. Also looking for salvage parts for sun roof 1995-2003. Do you know of any places, I live in Tennessee.

The stock Jaguar lug nuts won’t fit. The wheel shop sent me a whole set with the wheels. Not sure which one but they are smaller than the Jaguar factory lug nuts

Early S-type had issues, none deal-breakers. Later car is EXCELLENT. They should be considered different cars.

I was a kid when these cars came out and I saw one that had a placard placed on the driver's door that warned the community that the car was a lemon and that they should not buy it to this day it was the only vehicle I ever saw that had a warning on the driver's door that you should not purchase a Pontiac fiero due to the problems

I’ve got a 05 3.0 s type and it’s got 213k on it still runs smooth like butter. If I read correctly wasn’t jag bought out by ford in 99 to like 08? If so makes sense why these things are pretty reliable, not saying I’m a ford guy but old fords were definitely built tough💯
