I have a confusion. I did a simple lift and opponent keeps me a smash but I am ready to take the smash but shuttle the it goes to end of the court because the shuttle is feather it doesn't stop so how would I pick up the shuttle
@boliusabol8222 жыл бұрын
@@Senselessbrothers Well, play with feather more and you will better understand their trajectory.. If playing with plastic then try yonex 600 they have a trajectory that is closer to feather than yonex 300, as the yonex 600 drops more steeply than the yonex 300 after they are high, whereas the yonex 300 is more horizontal on the way down. A lot of good players will only play with feather. Different shuttles change things. Even a different hall can change things. Practise some rallying and particular shots with the shuttle before the game.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video and found it quite informative. Watching other amatuer player's mistakes is a great way to learn organically, as these errors really are common throughout all amatuers. Your video editing, and camera presence has also been getting better every time, well done. My favourite parts are always any dramatic tantrum after demonstating an error (slap in the forehead, throwing a racket etc haha). Also, I'm from Australia and my name is Steyn, pronounced Steen. Hearing "Stijn" was trippy, very rarely do I ever hear my name in other contexts :) Thanks for the video!

I have found that changing the speed of the shuttle will help/coerce you to change your play. It's something we do playing with fast medium and slow shuttles. Slow shuttle absolutely nullifies your rear court smash, medium shuttle forces you to read you game better (as more shots are on so looking for nuances) and fast shuttle forces your footwork as low power can still perform a clear. It's quite funny you mention about the shot prep too early. I hadn't played in a while (6 months) and I was wondering why I couldn't generate any power for clears and was falling over my feet. It was because I was off balance/tense from prepping faaaaaar to early. Nice to see it in action, although a good variation of shot prep can you be used to offer disguises to shot selection :) I've learned so much just watching you two play to a point I can start figuring things out now. If in doubt, what would Greg and Jenny say?! :D

Hey guys another great video, would love to see more of this content from you. On the topic of mistakes I wanted to ask a question regarding a couple of shots. As someone whose never had any coaching snd just picked up tips from various club players, I’ve heard contradictory information on smashed and clears when playing doubles. A few people say lift to the middle and depending where you are on court, smash to the middle as you’re less likely to hit the shuttle out. Others say aim for the rear corners on lifts and aim for sidelines on smashes as they are better quality shots. Wanted to ask which is correct, or if it depends mostly on the individual situation. TIA for any response
@BadmintonInsight2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ethan! We would generally say: lift to the sides (to make your opponents move) and then vary your smash placement (some to the middle, some to the sides) to keep your opponents guessing! There’s not many benefits of lifting to the middle, hence why we suggest lifting to the sides! Hope this helps :)
always love your advices , really helpful to step up my game

Glad I found this video. Quick question, I’m doing exactly what the guy in the first clip does when I play overhead shots (preparing too early) and I notice that after my games my shoulder pain almost always flares up. Do you think having this habit can significantly contribute to shoulder injury? - as you guys mentioned that this faulty method mostly uses shoulder only. Thank you for these helpful videos btw!
@jenyanglim65892 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same problem as you, watched in another video that smashes shouldn't involve the shoulder too much, as it loses strength and is less fluid, instead we should bring our hands up, and use our arms, wrist and fingers for smashes.
