A bluff is when you get a better hand to fold. A bad bluff is when you get a better hand to call and then you catch. Thats when he gets mad. Because he isn't trapped.
@meanmutton

@golfpro827 He gets mad when he has a clear 2nd best hand and someone who has a clear top hand goes hard with their tip hand. In nearly all of these, he is playing like an amateur going hard with 2nd pair against people who had strong bets pre-flop. He is playing horrible, losing poker getting taken out by people who have better hands.

Phil was being ironic, because everyone knows he plays tight and wouldn't raise with Q 10. The guy on the other hand had a Q 10 to add more to the joke and he called Phil's raise. The guy called the raise because even if Phil had Q 10, it would be a tie. So Phil "bluffing" proably backfired there lol. Anyway, since Phil plays tight, the reason he got so mad is because the guy should've folded on the flop and not pray for a straight to come out on the turn or the river because that was very unlikely.

Poker is also a mind game. Helmuth wants everyone to play the way he wants. Its not poker anymore If your opponent knows your move.

Phil says "I think you have AQ" and puts in a raise, and then says "I hope you don't have AA". 100% telling everyone that he has AK. Easiest read ever. Why would you not play against someone who tells what he's got?

As someone who just started to play a year ago, I watch these clips and keep thinking, “These guys are literally making standard plays. Why does Helmuth keep blowing up.” Then I keep realizing that this was all new school stuff to them. Old school players didn’t understand how to actually play poker. It wasn’t just waiting for premium hands. Position became a big part of play at this time.

You can play 1,000 but you will only win with an all round understanding of the game, making key folds, sensing weakness, tells etc. Phil has been winning for years and years because he can play he struggles with variance, which is more present in new players and large field tourneys.
