As a Madrid fan, when Kroos declared he will be retiring, that worried me since he is the orchestrator. Now, my worry is now being a reality. So I am not really surprised since this is a transition period just like what happened when CR7 left. I mean, it took almost 2 years to figure out how they will play without the CR7's 60 goal per year contribution. Same with now, we are just months removed from Kroos retirement. Since we don't have a direct replacement, the team learning how to play without Kroos, the growing pains is there and I already expected this. It is not also helping that Courtois, Alaba and Carvajal are injured and Mendy(Fran Garcia should be starting) and Militao are off form. Ancelotti should figure out a system that will make the current players co-exist and the players should step-up.

4-4-2. Have vini on the left wing where he has to run back and play defense (cause mbappe ain’t running back) Mbappe and Jude up top with Jude doing the hold up play and traditional No.9 role. Valverde as the right midfielder. It’s not ideal but that’s as good as it’s gonna get. Vini will have to play more defense but it will allow vini to make deadly passes from a deeper position to Jude and mbappe on the counter and will allow mbappe to occupy the left wing slightly more with Bellingham in the role he played last year. Basically the lineup against Man City but replace rodrygo with Mbappe. .

I think Real will play well again, as the season moves on, they are too experienced not to. But all of this bad play should be unnecessary, exactly because of their experience. I also think mbappe has a big chance of becoming a new unfulfilled potential, as we have seen in Neymar, Hazard and the likes. Mbappe used to have blinding speed at time strokes of genius. Beautiful cutting in and great assists. But now he just looks lost and he creates no pressure no runs and his finishing has become atrocious. Out of his last 20 1on 1s He's scored less than a quarter of his clear chances. I'm trying to be hopeful for him but he is starting to smell like one of the biggest flops in history.
