The V65 Magna was my very first dream bike as a kid. Mid 80's 5th grade me had pictures of the mighty Magna and its awesome sibling, the V65 Sabre, had pictures from magazines plastered all over his bedroom walls. It was like this bike was sent from the old gods as a new test to enter into manhood. Or at least that 10 year old kid thought so. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to own one over the years, so thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through you, and thank you for waking up some old memories.

Mid to late eighties my gpa rode a venture royale. It was awesome he had it loaded with cb and every option. Hand pinstriped. GMA had a regular venture, decked out. She rode until she got old where she couldn't hold up at a stop anymore. He rode another five years or so. We all loved that bike. They should've made a venture max.

Yamaha venture is still made. The 2023 model is out. I have the Royal Star Venture 1300 and it still pulls like a freight train. 👍. 6:10

Every rotor I seen had blue locktite on 12:26 tip for getting stuck brake disc star bolts off. Give each one a tap with metal hammer. The brake disc helps to make a vibration that acts sorta like a tuning fork & somehow makes em vibrate loose. Old man at a junkyard showed me. I didn't think it'd make any difference. They refused to budge, but after I gave em a love tap. They came off without risk of stripping star bit or bolt.

It's really good to see you working on the Magna, getting so close to riding it in is FULL KAIJU GLORY. I don't think it's going to give the VMax much of a run for its money, but it should still be a hell of a good time. I got my Brapstar package in the mail. Watching your videos often brings back childhood memories of briefly living in Tampa. Next door to Kojak's house of ribs on Gandy. Was the Tampete Motel. Behind the front desk/office area, was a 2bdrm apartment living area for the manager. Who was my dad & step mom for a while. She managed the motel & he was a lineman for the phone company. Not sure if I was technically a SOG or not since I lived on Gandy 😂

The Royal Star Venture ('99-'13) is fully water cooled, the fins are cosmetic. My '08 runs like a champ. The newer Venture failed due to the air cooled v-twin, it lost it's fan base.

The v max is a insane bike. I only ride sportbikes and my brother had one and made me ride it. I just remember handling like a 3 wheeler and stupid fast. It was fun.

I almost bought a V-max once but I'm 6"3 which made the seating position horrible. My knees were at chest height when I sat on it. 😂

my experience is that all manufactures have their unique power curve, pretty much no matter what form. Yamaha has a balance between power and smoothness. Honda has a strong but less aggressive power curve. Kawasaki has a consistently powerful, more aggressive power curve. There's exceptions here and there, but anything I've ridden, owned, or even read about seems to have that same theme. I owned a Magna but never got to ride it. I had a CB750 and rode it just up the road and its still consistent with what I've experienced. So I'd say what you're feeling is true. Magna probably feels quicker but the Vmax would take the win on top end. Awesome video as always my friend. Have fun on your trip!

You should test ride a Busa some day. I daileyed a highly modded busa until I turned it into a race bike. The busa was crazy fast, but it was a nice sport touring motorcycle. I took a few long trips on my busa, and it was nice, comortable, and quite in stock form.

If those rotors bolts are alloy not stainless steel, the red locktight will guarantee stripping the bolt head out the next time it needs to be removed. Stick with the blue lock tight!

I ride a M109R and I love it don't get me wrong. But that V65 and that VMax and that Goldwing. All awesome bikes and I wish I had a garage and the money to keep all of them and ride them according to my mood that day.

Actually the flat 6 came from making sense. The flat motor kept the weight low slung, add cylinders for power because you make more power with more cylinders (and low end torque is better with more cylinders) honda increased displacement on the flat 4 twice, and played with gearing, looking for the sweet spot between pulses and vibrations for rider comfort. They eventually went to 6 cylinders because they balance them self, no vibrations, and even better low end torque. It all came from leaving heritage behind and going for pure performance
