the main issue on arcane odyssey is that whenever you open your inventory, all the icons render once but they never actually leave your cache, so the more icons you render throughout a session, the worse your ping is, and the worse your fps get. The way to avoid any performance issues is to literally never open your inventory or a trade menu unless absolutely necessary. This is basically a memory leak issue and he might need to redesign the way the inventory system works to fix that, mostly because some people have upwards of 80k items in their inventory.

Game developer with 8 years of experience on roblox studio here. Believe it or not roughly 70% and likely more of the lag a game has is due to bad scripting. Now the video gets one thing right that roblox is pretty garbage in terms of optimization and developers don’t have the tools to do further optimizations like running code through the gpu or an easy way to make their game multithreaded. HOWEVER, and a very big however here, the BIGGEST source of client lag (bad fps) and server lag (bad ping) is from bad scripting. Things like rendering effects or collision data aren’t nearly as costly as you think they’d be. For example roblox is surprisingly pretty good about particles, they’re all handled on the gpu and throttle if the count is too high or the particle emitter base is too far away. I've always been curious about how much of the gpu roblox actually utilizes. Since Ive heard many people (I believe it too) say that roblox uses like 150% cpu and 1% gpu (exaggeration but u get my point)

⁠@@CindersGDThe things the roblox engine itself render such as parts, materials, particles blah blah blah are on the gpu. All code in a game is ran exclusively on the cpu. Bad code maxes out your cpu which causes low fps. Roblox doesn’t have shaders or any code on the gpu so bad framerate is a direct result of code and not rendering.

Renown needs to be fixed too no more quintillion bounty I personally like grinding renown to like 100k on my slots mostly by pve meanwhile I don’t wanna anymore when ppl are running around with hacked bounty

in the original arcane adventures lore, there were some people that had more than 1 sea curse. The king or something from the first kingdom island in the third sea (I forgot the name) has 7 sea curses iirc. So yeah it's possible to have multiple ones. I just don't remember if you need to touch them all at the same time or you can grab them one by one. And idk how it gonna be in game. I don't think sea curses will be added to the game. We'll have ancient magics and etc.

Also the sea curses stack. With a sea curse, it's hard for you to stay in the water. That dude with 7 sea curses could literally cause tsunamis and storms just by getting near the water because of how many sea curses he had.

I’m not a game developer, but I assume you can, but that would mean remaking your entire game again, like finding new models, coding, etc which can take a long time Vetex took about a year or more to finish the early access version of AO, so put yourself in his shoes; would you transfer the game you worked on for over a year in another different engine?

While I do believe Roblox isn’t up to par compared to other game engines, I still have to say about 90% of the issue is still from Vetex’s scripts itself. It just feels like there’s too much memory leak going around inside of his game. I can’t M1 with thermo fist without having my FPS get dropped into oblivion
