This is exactly how I feel. People nowadays playing videogames, (not just Destiny), because they fear of missing out- FOMO. People play videogames because they HAVE to, not because they WANT to. I HAVE to get that Godroll before it disappears. I HAVE to get the weekly quest done so I can get that item before it resets. I HAVE to grind so I can be ready for this event. People never WANT to game, they MUST. People used to hop on games because they felt like it, back when games were designed for the people. Videogames were made to be fun, not to function as a secondary job. I play videogames for enjoyment, (I know crazy. Call me old I guess). I have on vesper of radius and Helion so I can spam my solar soul. It’s not effective at all, but I love it and it makes me happy. I don’t care how good it is, because when I play Destiny, I don’t think about all of the negative stuff that people have said about my favorite sub classes. I just play the things I like. And that’s how people should feel about videogames in general.

You have a very valid point here. People talk about vanilla D2, but the game felt MUCH more fun back then. I still miss the Leviathan Raid and all the preparation for it back then. Destiny 2 failed when they pissed off its playerbase. It all started with the vaulting of content, making purchased content inaccessible, making the game feel like a bloody chore, and overall poor QoL features. No option to view past custscenes. Unable to play old missions similar to Destiny 1. Adding a Tag number system with numbers people don't like, FOMO. As a once Destiny player I quit cold turkey when they f'ed up after forsaken . Poor executive decisions lead to the failure of the IP, much like Overwatch. I regret buying content towards live service if it will turn out to be garbage like this. What a waste. I like how strong we are. My biggest issue is that nothing feels worth doing. A big Part of that comes with being an endgame player. You just know how everything works and have all the good stuff. Beyond min-maxing your gear there isn’t much stuff left for you to do that’ll spice things up. That just comes with the territory. I don’t want them to nerf how strong we are or to raise the skill floor as that doesn’t do anything for endgame players, and just makes things more annoying for regular players and needlessly more difficult for less skilled or newer players.
@heinzbruno1Ай бұрын
Exactly, in this world, there are skilled, end game players, and there are casual players. These are left out of the game, because it offers no choice in a menue to get to play "easy" or "expert", etc. We casual players have no choice, so we must play the hard core. FRUSTRATING

It’s been a chore since Shadowkeep. There’s a reason I quit after Forsaken. And I know so many people stuck with it, but the way yall feel about the game now is how I’ve felt for like 4 years. It’s always been like this, yall were just distracted by the FOMO and the dangling carrot of “oh this dlc is gonna come out and be the greatest thing ever.” Which it never was btw. And now that there is nothing on the horizon, you’re realizing that you’re not even having fun. Everytime I ever tried to get back into the game, I would do a couple quests, see how the game had just become a chore simulator and instantly feel bored to keep playing. That never was a problem in Destiny 1. I feel bad for the people that never actually got to experience that game and buy all the “rose-tinted glasses” nonsense that D2 players always throw around.

Yeah. The immersion has been broken for a long time. That's, i think, the underlining reason as to why no one cares the way you described. It's sad but it happened. No one thinks for themselves anymore and the community not only advertises but encourage cheesing/exploiting/cheating and click bait "must haves/must do" every chance they get. The community compromised itself. Toxic, impatient, and uncaring. The management of the game is for sure to blame for the game's low point here, but the community is not innocent in contributing to broken immersion and negative sentiment.

Same for me. Today 16.10.24, the next day after the Tuesday reset (yesterday) I feel it has become even harder. I am in this game since the beginning years ago and you are right, it was fun and beautiful. Now it is a woke chore, hard to play, nerved weapons (since yesterday my Sunshot does no damage as before). Played Vanguard Strikes yesterday night, had to quit as I was furious that I could not do damage with my "older" weapons (exotics included) other than stasis. As a casual player, like MOST! I never got to be as lucky as to get 2 or 3 100% stats distribution. I could only have 1 at 100% Resilience and 70 Recovery as maximum, through all these years. It is a chore and it proves with the "bottle Lady", this childish invention to get the bottles and essences, is nauseating. You have to do many of the same to get the "powders". Everything is so repetitive, like the nauseating repetitions of Encore, till you get herpes. This game must be played as bungie wants. But not for me. I play as I WANT! Therefore I am quitting this s.h.i.t. and play now Cyberpunk/First Descendant/Warframe. A pity, after so many years loyalty (and paying for all DLCs!). Finally i am just fed up with the woke, unplayable contents. (BTW, try, as a casual player to do the new dungeon Vesper Host. You will nag your fingers off! It is not doable for casual players and it is very hard for so called expert players. Bye Bye bungie, you broke a beautiful and almost perfect game. (I want my money back)!

I disagree with some of the points you made in the video. First of all, a "universe ending" story has nothing to do with how good the story is or how it's not. You could tell a story that's not "universe ending" and be better than the story that is. Also almost every single villain in Marvel and DC is a threat to the entire universe, Ultron, Thanos, Darkseid and many others. Or another counter example is Joker. He didn't wanna end the universe or anything he just had a point or philosophy to prove and the writing for it was good and it paid off. So in conclusion, the level of threat that a villain proposes has very little to do with how good the story is. The second point which I disagree with you on, is how nowadays we try to mid-max everything in Destiny and get the best gear and stats and it became like a chore. I honestly don't know to what extent that's Bungie's fault more so it's the fault of the game being an MMO and being an 8 year old game. Look at a game like WoW, it suffers from the same thing Destiny does, people try to mid-max every thing and the game is basically a chore at this point or ESO the same thing. The only way this problem gets solved in my opinion is either a Destiny 3, which unfortunately we know it's not coming, or a hard reset and a restructuring of the entire game.

I think it's just unnatural what we've done to games where they have to be 'endless' experiences - AKA turning them into esports and/or live service games. Best thing I did with games recently - is to just let the experiences end. Just stop and move on, like in the old days. Leave the best memories where they are and not let these things become chores. With Destiny, I do all the new stuff, dip and move on, come back when there's major new content and never pressure myself to keep playing. Also, I'll just go ahead and say it - no amount of fixing and sandbox changes and system changes will make D2 'NEW', Destiny needs a long break and come back with D3. Thats it.
@jackburkel41193 ай бұрын
I don't think the live service model on paper is the issue, but moreso the greed of companies nowadays. It's so easy to slap a battle pass and have seasons in everything And we have Fortnite to thank for it. Live service is supposed to be more than that. Destiny has such a phenomenal foundation and everyone can see it but instead Bungie doesn't want to innovate, they want to monetize. They give the bare minimum so as to keep as many people as possible from leaving without putting in more effort than needed. It just sucks.

The problem is its old. The game is probably at one of the best states its been, but if you've been playinjg it the whole time its just stale. Same raids, same dungeons, no improvements to open world, honestly, planets are boring as well. The episodes and seasonal events before that were tedious after a point. Meanwhile, core playlists have died, and very little has released that's super exciting.. they nailed Final Shape, but not the actual long term gameplay loop. I feel like i've got so many god rolls, why am I mindlessly griding out loot that is essentially the same? The game needs a reboot imo

Its the only game that i actually play for the gameplay. I cant really find a game thay comes close to the gameplay with weapons and elemental properties with the action. Its just been hard to find a game. These style of games always run into the maxing of stats once you hit end game, this game surprised me for hiw long they adjusted end game content, cant lie about that, as much as i hate live service games, theres something to be said about that part, but yeah thays the end goal of all these games, theres always an end to every story and games arent infinite exploring and story missions. You eventually transition to grinding for the possible best for end game content. I dont understand why people get frustrated at that. Modern video games feel foreign to me now and I haven't bought a game this year. Im waiting for Vroken Arrow to drop but thays the only game im looking forward. I think gaming right now, sucks. D2 is terrible if you play it consistently because all the game is built around is tedious, busy work outside of new expansions and dungeons. Even the events have been turned into this, along with another source of income with the event pass.

Destiny went the wrong route with Raid designs. Raid's should be places where enemy AI is it's absolute smartest, and new enemy types both exist and hit harder than anywhere else in the game, combined with ticked up spawn rates, thus requiring 6 people to clear. Instead everything is stand of these plates and memorize these symbols in separate rooms mechanics. Which is the lazy way to artifically create challenge. It has less of a team sport and more of a try to vote in a gerrymandered district as a marginalized demographic feel 😂

I completely agree but I blame the fanbase, I said this from day 1 when everyone argued to make exotics available to everyone ruining the idea of exotics. Somethings should be so difficult to get that it is possible you never get it. The game should be extremely difficult if its was designed to be endless (aka 10yrs), it can also be viewed as this is the end of the 10 yr journey as well. However, I do feel that the Destiny has a way forward in moving away from separate light /dark classes and leaning into prismatic tying that into the story and making us the main villain and breaking away from the vanguard and traveler but eh if its over it was a good run.

Hi Mate. In November people were saying Bungie killed destiny because Lightfall let them down, now you’re arguing Bungie shot themselves in the foot because Final Shape was too good. There’s no answer other than maybe take breaks from Destiny from time to time? Just hours after every reset/launch of any new content streamers share all the puzzle solutions, god rolls, cheeses, meta builds so new content becomes old so quickly. There’s no thrill of discovery anymore because of streamers and players like me watching them. The biggest problem IMO is the D2 player base is aging and falling off. Bungie should’ve worked harder to attract new players instead of trying to appease whining old grumps like me.

This is just the effect of the seasonal model. There will never be secrets under a drip fed model because you can't hide a secret in a drop worth of content. Destiny was always at it's best when expansions were dropped in full every year. Unfortunate feeling that the crowd that loves the game turned it into this drip feed experience by being constantly hungry for content. When there was new Destiny, I want to grind it til I'm done with everything and then let it rest for a few months. Instead it's been at an awkward in-between where there's nothing interesting enough to grind out, which is bad, but at least I don't feel like I'll miss out if I go play other games.
