its interesting how songs like last nights by Morgan Wallen and the Bar song spend so many weeks at number 1 on the Billboard yet makes so little noise in the global sphere
@RoxyWeasley121932 күн бұрын
Because country is a genre which doesn't have any appealing on an international level. Nothing wrong with it, it's just that most countries have their own traditions of pop/rock bands or singer-songwriters who make similar music with lyrics in the local language so there's no need to import these sounds from the US.

Majority of these songs weren't as much decade defining as those mentioned in the video, and most of them didn't have any longevity
@fadingnebulous2 күн бұрын
@@marcinmakara9600I understand where are you coming from, but your stance is arguably subjective. Especially because this video mostly highlighted chart success and streams and a chunk of the songs selected would also fit your criteria your criteria of not being era-defining. If we are strictly talking about charts, then sure, some of my choices aren’t up to snuff. But if we include critical darlings, viral sensations, songs that represent what’s happening in the zeitgeist, songs that shifted or challenged the shape of pop/R&B/rock music to come in the 2020s, or songs that appeared in commercials or were promotions/needle drops in film & TV… then, yes, absolutely all of these should be included. Pop music and pop culture are just as significant as a song charting. It’s literally why Beyoncé earned her spot over Taylor Swift on Billboard’s Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century list. If you just go by statistics and sales, you miss a whole range of what is happening elsewhere.

"Nasty", "Cool", "Houdini", "yes end? ", "Hiss", "360", "Apple", "Babylon", "Break My Soul", "Get Him Back"?😂 These songs weren't even hits
@fadingnebulousКүн бұрын
@ilyailya1535 “Break My Soul” and “Yes, and?” topped Billboard Hot 100, “Hiss” topped the Billboard Global 200, “Nasty” was a viral sensation and was a Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Apple” was a viral hit and peaked at No. 12 on the Pop Airplay chart, "Get Him Back!" landed in the Top 10 and Top 20 of most pop and rock charts around the world, “Cool” was on various movie soundtracks and commercials, “Houdini” peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 17 Weeks and “Babylon” was a club hit with DJs and drag artists (which, by and large, affect pop culture). Google and Bing are free, and trolls are best left in fairytales and make-believe.
