For the Battledamaged plating there are actually historical examples that could work well for inspiration and scale moddelers have worked with theese for a while: ironclad ships where iron plates were added to wooden ships and zimmerit on german WWII tanks, which was a spacer coating to prevent magnetic mines from sticking. The technikes used to moddel theese two could work well for you.

@@Zorpazorp I am verry gratefull for the entusiastic response. I allways viewed scale modeling and wargaming as one thing. And for realism there is a lot of experiance in the historical moddeling comunity. For Zimmerit specificly there is a youtuber caled "night shift" who has a few different tutorials, he also has some grat battledamage tutorials. For twisted metal diorama moddeling I recomend the youtuber "Plasmo" he has lots of post apocalyptic dioramas with burned/destroyed armor and vehicels. While theese are way too detailed to replicate on the scale you are working on, I think that there are some Ideas that could be adopted.

I had a similar idea years ago with the release of aeronatica imperialis and that on a small board you’d use the aircraft and if they target a ground unit you’d apply it to the 28mm board but they would not have to worry about flying big air models in a very packed urban board or around small ground units.

I did a 10x10 board for Star Wars Legion and X Wing for a few weeks. I am currently working on a 40k list for the 10x10 once my space becomes available again but I am trying to scratch build every part of it. really cool to see form worked like this I have the pink kind I am not sure if they cut any differently

i love how you stay true to the original stories and artworks and other source material and mix it with your style and different building techniques to make absolutely everything modular (crazy task!!) - i dont have the ability to support you financially atm, but boy oh boy do i want to, bc i need this in my life. The imperial palace was vaguely the size of europe at that time. Even rounding to a slightly smaller scale of 1:32, wouldnt that mean you need to build a palace of approx 318 meters square?

Yeah there’s no way he can build the whole thing even at Epic scale. I think he actually just means he’s going to build a modular siege board that could represent any area of the palace from the outskirts to the middle.

Glyn has got it! A big modular setup, which can be used to represent every different part of the palace for linked campaign games :)

The fact that GW asked you to do this, means it not only condones but endorses this. But then for some reason in the same breath prohibits fan films. GW probably can't claim to own the models so people are free to make battle reports and boards for gaming; so their focus is on the images they own. This is a strange distinction for them to draw since they benefit from all warhammer content on youtube.
