I do like that the sergeants feel able to take the Micky out of Conway to his face, shows that they feel comfy around him and that he actually has there respect

Funny how the robbery was at the fictional Allied Mutual Building Society when Carver was clearly taking money out of a very real National Westminster Bank (NatWest) Servicetill @ 8:46. 🤭

i enjoyed watching this episode, i do feel the senior officers at sun hill spent too much time behind the desk, one of the reasons conway got the axe early in the soap era

It's silver. It's black for inspectors and chief inspectors, silver for superintendents and chief superintendents, then the design changes to silver oak leaf braiding for more senior officers.

Allied Mutual build society. Where do they get these names from?
@workonesabs2 жыл бұрын
Well they can't use real names, like the street names, shops, estates are all fictional. You can notice when you see a street sign the sign is put over the original sign as it's looks newer.
@Trek0012 жыл бұрын
@@workonesabs They do, of course, use real names when they go to a easily known location such as Victoria, Kings Cross and so on
@eatmywords2 жыл бұрын
because it's probably based on real building societies. building societies did actually stem from mutual societies, like the victorian friendly societies, which helped the working classes find housing, and cheap food. from the 1830s onward, these societies came under increasing regulation, due to the vast sums they held. these growing capital societies then developed into specific building societies that underpinned the developing owner-occupier attitude towards housing; that was spurred by Lloyd George's determination to build 'homes for heroes' after WWI. they have become far less significant since the 1990s, as most of the building societies became banks, or were bought out by banks.

It's a reasonable fake name for a building society. I imagine the writers come up with those names.
