This video made me pick up the book again. I was still in part 1 and was going to give up reading it. I guess it staggered a bit for me in part 1, but I'm glad that I continued. It is such a beautiful story of love.

I loved parts one and two of this book but was disappointed by part three. SPOILERS In part one, we were learning about the memory taking, which was intriguing. Then part two was beautiful with the romance even with that horrible thing that happened at the end of the romance. Then part three changed perspective and it felt like we went backwards. The character perspective in part three took us back to them not understanding what was going on, like part one, but we knew what was going on and it felt like a retread. I also wanted part three to be from the same perspective as the first two parts. I kept wanting to skip the parts with the new perspective to find out what happened to the other character. I would also love to have a sequel to explore what happened to all those people who got their memories back when the library burned.

I would recommend the audiobook on Hoopla... omg so well done 😊 if anyone does not know, that’s the free app that gives you access to books and audiobooks through your library card number.

Now I'm very interested in the book, thanks🥰. Also, if you want a book/book series where giving away your memories and its consequences are more deeply explored, read Liveship Traders. It's one of the major themes of those books and beyond in what I read so far of the Realm of the Elderlings (I finished Tawny Man)

That makes me SO excited since that’s one series I plan to pick up this year!

The books are quite different, I would imagine, but "The Binding" kind of reminded me of Robert Cormier. He is one of my favorite YA authors. His books have a dark side as well, which I think is interesting for YA books. Probably my favorite of his is "I am the Cheese".

I was really disappointed with the ending. I too felt it was rushed. The ending seems like 2 selfish brats who destroyed countless lives by burning the books unnecessarily. All emmet had to do was tell him of their life before (what was in lucians book). It's not like it would have been a big shock to him as they had slept together again since but they burnt all the books releasing everyone's memories for their own selfish reasons. I loved the book but hated the ending
@Gamling-The-Old2 жыл бұрын
I agree about disliking the ending. But they do mention several times that you can't tell a bound person the memories they've forgetten, it simply won't stick.

Yeah, breathy narrators can start to grate on the nerves, after a while. I've narrated many of my own books, and I make sure to do what I can to minimize such things.

After the raving reviews this book got, I went in with HUGE expectations and was severely disappointed. The characters were unbelievably badly written. How did they change throughout the story? Homophobia? What is done to curb it? A pedophile/rapist is on the loose. What's done to send him behind the bars? A man is murdered. Why does no want to talk about it? How is the MC so good at Binding and what makes him special? If the world of Binding is THIS bad and corrupted, why do we not see anything happening that stops this evil practice (the Trade, I mean). The characters were unlikable. I've read better books on Wattpad. And that's setting the bar too low.
