Free devil deals can still be shit. Just because you don't see it or whatever doesn't mean it's not the case. The Lost is inherently difficult, no matter how you hash it.

Tear, if you are having trouble playing with the Keeper, try to avoid devil deals in order to get Angel Rooms. Even if a devil deal would result in being free because of an HP up boss drop, Angel Rooms have very good free items like Sacred Heart and Godhead (in fact, getting Godhead with Tech X was the build that carried me into beating Mega Satan, and 100%ing the game.
